zenru had snickered when ticktock shouted at them. he thanked him for drying him off, and proceeded to go to thr throne room.

"celestia...?"

"oh, there you are, zenru...this time, im sending you back around a month."

"and whats special about that date...?"

"okay, heres what i want you to do..."

they continued talking about zenru's mission. a couple minutes later, a flash is seen, and zenru is no longer in the throne room.

 

Caliber POV

 

"...whats happening?" he asked, before he saw food.

 

"nevah mind!!" he said, as he dashed into the store ice was looking in. he started buying around five pies for a 'snack'

Blizzard excitedly followed Caliber inside the bakery and sat down after purchasing some pies as well, "Mmm! These are delicious! Caliber, have you ever eaten pies this good before? This is just so yum!" he said as he buried his face within his pie. And they were getting weird looks from the snobs outside.

Red wondered vaguely what had happened to the pegasus as she followed Caliber and Ice Blizzard to the throne room. She'd rather wanted to talk to him-- he'd been very skilled. Oh well, she'd ask Caliber about him.

 

She sniffed the air. The scent of baked sweets was overpowering-- and very good. She trotted in after Caliber and Ice, and stared at them. She didn't have to be rich to be appalled by their table manners. But it was more funny than anything else. Her stomach rumbled-- she decided she could forgive them for being such pigs, they must be hungry. She hadn't realized how hungry she had gotten during the balloon war.

 

She examined the insane assortment of cookies and cakes through the glass, and settled on "Lemon Tarts." Giving the storekeeper (who was staring hard at Caliber and Ice) too many bits as the goods were way overpriced, she took her prize to Caliber and Ice. Normally, she wouldn't use her little money on something like this, but... well, she deserved a treat.

 

She nibbled at one tart. It was... good. Not lemony enough, though. "Caliber, what have you been up to?" She asked, wondering how he had gotten so hungry. She would ask about the pegasus later.

Blizzard had noticed Red as she sat down when he looked up from his pie, "Hey Red. I noticed you got the Lemon Tarts, good choice. If there's one good thing I gotta say about Canterlot, is that their food is sooo goood...aha! Apple pie...." he said as his eyes literally displayed apple pies for a moment and returned normal. "Yeah, where were you brother? You missed a great water balloon fight with me and my sister Red here." he said before he ate a slice of apple pie whole.

"training." caliber said, almost bluntly, as he he ate his pie. "in the fight with scarlet, i realized i couldn't do a thing, and that was a problem."  he paused. "so, i was training. i built up an appetite, started looking for something to eat, and here i am."

 

he grinned at her. "i swear, you really caught me off guard, there. a water balloon fight with zenru? i...i dont even know what to say!"

Ticktock had been munching away at his cherry pie watching his friends have a conisation and also avoiding the odd pony now and then asking if they knew him from somewhere to which Ticktock always replied "No sorry must be someone else" In truth it was him they were thinking of but Ticktock didn't want them to know that.

Blizzard was still stuffing his face with pie as he looked around. He was happy to be with his friends, no family. He was in such trust of his companions that he considered Caliber his biological brother, Red his little sister, and Ticktock as he brother from Canterlot. "All of you are awesome."

Red smiled at Ice Blizzard. You know? Ice is right! We are awesome! At least, together. She felt a burst of confidence. She felt as though, together, they could achieve anything. That alicorn was no match for them!

 

Red glanced at Caliber sympathetically. He seemed torn up about the fact that they couldn't save Luna on their own. "We'll help each other train," she informed him. "I would be honored to spar with you sometime." She paused. "And who is Zenru?" She added.

Blizzard had wiped his face clean with a napkin before he turned to Caliber, "I'd like to know as well. Who was that guy? And do you have any idea why he'd jump in a water balloon fight with us one minute, and turn around the next minute we're in heated, deadly combat. Any comments bro?"

[P-Jay 1,987]

"well...you know how i often say im the fourth best swordspony? i got that rank in the swordspony tournament. hosted once every two years. i came in fourth, and, well, zenru came in first." his eyes glittered. "i can tell, even though he was seemingly fired up, he wasn't giving it his all."

 

he paused, and continued. "zenru is quite literally, the strongest pony iv ever met. possibly even stronger then the princesses."

Blizzard's eyes widened with shock. Was this pony they fought really and truly that strong? Was IB just able to go hoof to hoof against this guy? What did that say about their skill levels? "Damn. That's amazing dude. That was the best sword in Equestria? Awesome speed and sword skills. Very cool guy."

[Little Red 1,529]

Red stared at Caliber, eyebrow raised. Oh. That explained a lot.

 

She slowly ate her last tart, still staring at Caliber. Finally, she decided to settle on saying "Oh."

 

She tried to think of something to say. There... wasn't really much to say, though. She and Ice had just challenged one of the most powerful ponies in Equestria in a water balloon war.

 

She swallowed. She looked at the other two. After a moment, she repeated "Oh."

Blizzard had finished his last slice of pie and said, "Hm. Delicious. So guys, anywhere you wanna go next? I don't know why, but I feel like we're being watched or something." he said while there were several Canterlot ponies looking at them in disgust. "We can talk about Zenru on the way there."

[P-Jay 1,987]

"yeah, i agree with ice." caliber said, as he rose up. a few ponies were still looking at them with disgust, and one of the even scoffed. caliber reacted by drawing his sword, and flashing it around a bit.

 

they shut up, and minded their business after that.

 

"now...any questions? about zenru, or hell, about the other top five. myself included, of course."

Blizzard got up along with Caliber and put his hoof around his friend's shoulder, "Heh. We've known each other for years brother. We know almost everything about each other and we're awesome!" he said as he let Caliber go and continued, "I swear to Celestia that we are biological brothers with different mothers. Don't you agree dude? Also, let's go to that huge fountain and throw a few bits for wishes. We can talk more peacefully there. Who's with me?" Blizzard said as he began walking to the fountain.

Ticktock finished his pie and joined the others "Well I have a question in all my life I have not heard of any such swords pony tournaments where are they? Watching one or even being in one would make for great research and well I swords pony title would be pretty cool as well."

Blizzard had already made his way to the nearby fountain and had gotten a single bit ready to toss into the fountain for a wish, "Hmmm...what to wish for...?" while thinking about what he wanted to wish for, he could be seen waving to his team by the fountain to show where he is.

Red thought about it. She knew the bare basics of Zenru, she knew where Caliber had been... what else did she want to know? Other than Ticktock's question.

 

"I'll come," she said to Ice, "but I just wasted half my money on those lemon tarts, I'm not using any more right now." She trotted beside him.

Blizzard was at the fountain and was ready to toss his bit in. After a moment of thought, he finally tossed the bit into the fountain and made his wish. As he did, his face started to turn red from embarrasment of the details of the wish, "I hope that can come true. She's so generous. I love her so much..." he thought to himself as he blushed.

Red watched Ice blush as he threw his bit into the fountain. He had a crush on Rarity, right..? Red had heard of her, but didn't know much about her. Had Ice wished for something to do with Rarity? Well, it wasn't her business. She turned away, staring into the water.

 

If she had a spare bit, what would she wish for? She racked her brain. What did she want?

 

The answer came to her after several moments. She didn't really want anything. Sure, some notion in the back of her head said she wanted to be the strongest swords-pony in Equestria. Some whim suggested that she wanted money and to live for nothing with her parents. Some vague idea said she wanted friends, friends so near and dear to her heart they were family. She glanced at Ice again. She kind of had that one, already.

 

What would she wish for? She wouldn't wish for anything, she decided. She didn't have anything really to wish for-- it wasn't that she was extremely happy with her life... she was just.. content.

 

After a moment, she threw a bit into the fountain anyway. I wish that I never have to wish anything.

caliber tossed in four exact coins. he didnt say anything as he did so, just stared at the water a bit.

 

he broke the silence, grinned at the others. "so...red, how fancy are ya with that sword?" he asked. "mind if i take a look at it, since last time you responded by smashing a beer bottle on my head." he added, with a smirk.

Red jumped slightly, broken out of her reverie. She flushed slightly upon remembering the... ah... bar fight.

 

"I could be better," she responded, "I'm not nearly at the level I would like to be, yet." She unfastened her scabbard from her belt and presented it to him. The scabbard was of simple design, a simple metal holder. The sword was even simpler. But they both worked, and they were light, so Red had never decided to save up for another one.

Blizzard had begun to sweat a little and wiped his forehead as he stopped blushing. After he saw Red throw her bit, he wondered what she wished for. It probably had something to do with family or friends. But then again, they were all kind of like family members to each other.

 

After more time, he sat on a nearby bench human style with one leg crossed over the other and decided to break the ice, "So Red, what did you wish for? Wait, it doesn't come true if the wisher tells, but no one said that others couldn't guess and the wish wouldn't come true right? I have no idea what you wished for though, and I'd imagine it wouldn't be that easy to determine my wish either."

 

The talk of swords sparked something in Blizzard, "Why don't we go to the Canterlot Blacksmith and get that sword of yours an upgrade hm?"

Ticktock chuckled "Guys you know that is just all a load of make believe don't you? I mean seriously I bit in a fountain can grant a wish that is preposterous trust me I have tried many times every time the only thing I get is poorer and more disappointed."

"thats because your not supposed to shoot for deep space, ticky." caliber replied, giving red's sword a look-over, and giving it a few practice swings. "your supposed to shoot for the moon. does this make sense?"

 

he laughed a bit at ice's statement. "ice, we all know what you wished for." he said, with a knowing smirk.
