Sidral Mundet 1,666 March 28, 2015 Share March 28, 2015 From what I can tell, Equestria, the planet/plane of existence where the show takes place, seems to be the only thing that exists in the MLP universe, very much so like old geocentric models of the universe, where the whole of creation was just the solar system up to Saturn and nothing more, the star just being points of light and a backdrop like this: My reasoning is that Celestia and Luna control the Sun and Moon, indicating that Equestria stands still while the celestial objects move, which is further supported by Twilight's Kingdom when Twilight did it with questionable results. So basically the MLP universe in my view is quite small, but what do you think? Does MLP exist in a regular universe like ours or is it something else entirely? 1 Logic is the beginning of wisdom, not the end.
TheJLeeTeam 914 March 28, 2015 Share March 28, 2015 Considering Equestria doesn't have as many cities or landmarks compared to real world countries, I am betting as big as the Hokkaido region of Japan. Like you can go from east Equestria all the way to the west in about 5 or 6 hours. Fluttershutter 2,668 March 29, 2015 Share March 29, 2015 Even if the sun and moon orbit the plant that doesn't mean that there aren't planets orbiting other stars or vice versa farther out in the universe. They just have nothing to do with the show so far.
MysticShine 529 March 29, 2015 Share March 29, 2015 I would say it is relatively the same size as our own universe.
sweetolebob18 728 April 2, 2015 Share April 2, 2015 Season 4 Princess Twilight has both the sun & moon in the sky at the same time. If the moon just orbited the Earth, then it wouldn't have freaked everyone out. Plus, Sidral Mundet pointed out that T raised the sun in Twilight's Kingdom. So, it seems fairly sure a Geocentric Universe model prevails in EQ with the sun & moon being very much smaller than the world. How big? Uncertain. They have mentioned meteors on several occasions, but no other planets I can recall. The ancient Greeks believed the stars to be merely points of light on a crystal sphere -sort of God's disco ball. Plus, there is a great deal of EQ that hasn't been covered in the show. At the least, the homelands of Zebras, Griffons, & Minotaurs.

SunflowerPrincess 345 April 2, 2015 Share April 2, 2015 I think I've seen that drawing before...Dante's Paradiso (Is it "Paradiso" in English or do you call it "Heaven" or "Paradise"?) Anyway, I think that the MLP universe is as big as ours, and Equestria is as big as Earth (if it is a planet, of course, I still think that EQ itself might be just a continent, and not a very big one, around the same size as Europe, and that there are other continents.) RivkaBobble 110 April 2, 2015 Share April 2, 2015 I don't think the Equestrian world has any orbit at all. Our orbit is when the sun and moon rotate in the sky in the same direction everyday as you know. But, here Celestia and Luna control the sun and moon, so how can there be an orbit? The sun and moon don't move on their own. About how big, I'd say Equestria is an about the size of Europe too. Also, just to throw it out there, if we're looking at what Equestria is based off of, I'd say the U.S.A. It has the eastern cities and the southern farm-like lands just like the real U.S.A.
