support legit has the most impact in the game. u might wanna check out RD2L next season and try and learn a thing or two. it's not the friendliest place ever though. i had to play support last season for a team that was stacked to shit, our mid player was the mid player for no earth spirit back in TI4 qualifiers. he has a legendary TA. we lost to coin flip server selection tho against an EU team who had better ping to US than 1/2 of our players because fair rules

 

The problem is that from what I've gathered, the main purpose of a support is to ensure that the carry can get sufficient farm for the late game. In 1K tier, either the carry is unable to last-hit properly (a support can't improve last-hitting), or the enemy don't know how to prevent them from farming (so the carry doesn't need a support).

 

All I have to do is pick a carry, then buy the courier and wards anyway, since in such a low tier that's all a support is good for. I also like to pick a support hero that can transition into a carry role, such as Vengeful Spirit (Who has two spells that can buff her right-clicks).

I played DOTA 2 for a while, but I found the game to be too hard for me  . It was so big and confusing for me, I would rather like to play simpler games such as LoL.

Something awesome about that video is that the person who made that also made a lot of hero cards for different heroes (CMC Techies! YAY!). I wish they would make more though. Like Double Diamond as Tusk or Lich or someone.

I really can't get into LoL at all. Buying champs feels too close to Pay2Win for my tastes. I know you can get them with in-game money, but it takes forever to grind up enough points to buy both the character and their best runes, and during that grinding period you are playing sub-optimally due to having weak runes and a character you don't like. Speaking of which, runes are just silly IMO; if you're trying to make a balanced game, why would you add an option that directly makes your character more powerful? That's literally the worst thing you can possibly do for balance.

problem with dota is, it takes a lot of time to understand the mechanics of the game and to learn all the different item interactions. i played that game for like 4 years now, but to someone who is just starting out, it must be incredibly boring if you dont have a friend that explains you that stuff.

What is it that you find hard to understand about Dota? From my experiences, it should be pretty smooth converting from one game to the other.

Everything. The items, the weird champions, their weird abilities (I find some champions to have few abilities that suit them, often have more passive/buff abilities. Mostly items though  .

That's not necessarily because of Dota, it's always confusing going into a new MOBA when you don't know what the characters and items do. If you want to try and get into Dota, I would suggest you just keep trying, and spend some time studying the characters' powers. You had to do the same thing when you started playing LoL, you should be able to do it again.

 

The items are pretty different compared to LoL's, there are a lot more active abilities. Think of them as extra ability slots for your character that you unlock with gold. Item builds are more flexible in Dota, there is not one ideal build, but in low level play you should be able to get by just following a guide (One thing I like about Dota is that you can choose from several community-made builds and have it shown on-screen every time you earn a level or open the shop, so you don't have to alt-tab in and out. I recommend Torte De Lini's guides.). Once again it takes time to learn what these items do, but that's how it goes for every other game.

I was very quick at catching up with LoL. I have been trying to play DOTA for some time now. I thought with my knowledge of LoL, I would be able to play that (I quit playing LoL because of the horrible community and hoped that I could join DOTA instead).

I'm going to be honest, I screamed like a little girl when I saw that. Good thing nobody else was home, but putting aside the obvious for a moment, that new Mirana look on the front page... Does this mean she'll be getting an update to look less like Plasticine? I mean, she could do with a texture update, but I'd prefer they do a hero who REALLY needs it like Slardar, Viper, Zeus, or even Jakrio. They still have the beta textures for crying out loud.

things like turn speed add a certain weight to ur character, in lol there is no turnspeed. there are also a lot more complex things in dota for instance if you manta to dodge ravage or smth, or manta dodge a stun. then there is also missile speed to each hero, cast points, and the way the game is played is completely different. for instance you only do jungles in comp if you have the lineup to fit it, where as in LoL u literally ahve a jungler every game cause of the way the buffs function. also dota has a legit jungle where as league has a shit jungle,cause of spawn times. trees and intractable terrain are another thing. i can't think of anything else but like from a game design perspective honestly league is better in some aspects (accessible, easy to understand hard to master etc) but imo dota is designed better

Turn speed is mainly a thing so that ranged heroes can't infallibly kite a melee hero, this is especially apparent with heroes like Ursa who could be picked at a high level if it weren't for how easy it is to kite him, since he has no natural initiation like Faceless Void or Spectre or Anti-Mage.

Unfortunately, it's still REALLY a beta. Most of the features are disabled, and the item schema isn't the same as the main client, so if you try to equip, unequip, or move around any newer items (specifically the Collector's Cache items), it'll crash your game. Plus the particle systems are messed up, you can jump off the edge of the "Demo a hero" map, it feels like more an alpha than a beta tbh.

Salt comes with the experience but I can understand not wanting to play with a complete noob.  I actually joined their group but haven't really done anything with it yet, but I do admit that I was looking for people here because also ponies.  But I will look into those links more, thank you.
