Why are game industries to blame?

On account of censorship, why are video games getting the boot instead of media like television, movies,  magazines, or music? What makes them the easy target?

I want to think that they are possibly an easy target because children are around them the most....but that really doesn't excuse other sources.

It's easy, really. Compared to movies, which has been around since the 1920's, television since the 1950's, magazines since the 1660's and music since humanity first was a thing, video games are a relatively new medium, having come to fruition in the late 1970s after a relatively unsuccessful introduction in 1972 and then never truly solidifying itself as another entertainment medium for a decade (I think the North American console market crash of 1983 is a sign of gaming's early struggles in the mainstream market) and video games are often heavily marketed, with most games being marketed at children (except M-rated ones, that's an outright lie). This and the fact that they're now taking over from prime time TV as the primary source of entertainment for millions of people worldwide make them an easy target for more well-established mediums. They, particularly TV, want to keep their viewers, and to do so they are trying to demonize the medium, make it look terrible and everyone who plays them are horrible people.

It's disgusting, really. "We don't like the way how things are going, so let's make sure that everyone hates this new thing that's taking over from us!"

It is simply because video games are a new medium which is not understood by everyone are an easy scapegoat for people who are censor happy. They did the same thing with comic books back in the 50's, people seriously suggested that comics contributed to childhood deliquency and were part of the Communist plot to corrupt to youth. Other forms of media still sometimes get censored but once video games mature a bit more than this will hopefully happen a bit less.

Because people are idiots >.<
Many parents still associate games with children, rather than it being a medium enjoyed by people of all age groups.
Added to that it also seems to be suffering from the same issue rock and roll was back when it came out, where people would exploit those who didn't know about it, in order to make it sound far worse than it actually was ("Oh yes games/rock and roll/whatever is causing this generation to go to hell)
Also a new media, and parents are parnoid that an interactive media has more effects on the brain than non interactive media, but tbh I don't buy that as a reason for censorship.

Tl;dr: General derpyness.
And honestly gamers are responsible for it as well [Looking at peoples reaction to hatred >.<]

Daring and Black Adam pretty much got it down. Since it's a fairly new medium, it's basically "The Cool Thing To Hate"

Heck I still remember when it was "violent" television(AKA Looney Tunes and Tom&Jerry) and Heavy Metal

I've noticed that its mostly online users who uploads videos who gets the boot mostly. If you think back when internet wasn't that huge, games were a fun hobby that you could come home and relax too. So of course now that social media has sorta made big shots on the net, with unfiltered subjective claims, its huge that its trying to push its views on people. Or reviewers as one might call it.

So in that sense, it has become more than ever a necessary job for some i feel.
