Better plans for MLP Villains

Any big or small changes in MLP villains strategies that would've resulted in the villain getting what they wanted. Just two off the top of my head: 

 

For Sunset Shimmer, she should have just broken into/ joined a dog kennel, then released all of them through the mirror at once. The Crystal Empire becomes flooded with hundreds of dragons overnight, and, one moon cycle later, she strolls in to take over the now presumably charred and burning Equestria.

 

For Nightmare Moon, she should've just refused to bring up the moon when it was time for the sun to come down. Everypony, including her sister, would've much more likely to sympathize with her (since it points more towards depression than aggression), and it would have also made them realize how destructive Celestia's Sun can be, since eternal day is just as bad as eternal night.

 

Any more retoolings or significant errors you guys can think of? (If talking about Starlight Glimmer's plan, be sure to wrap it in spoilers!)

Discord should have just hidden the elements on the moon, or seal the maze so they could never escape.

I don't think either of those would have worked well, like who wants to take over a burning wasteland full of dead ponies and where most of the survivers have fled to find a safer place to live? who wants to rule over scorched earth with no subjects? and not only that but she would have to DEFEAT THE DRAGONS she unleashed to make the place habitable again! you think sunset could take out hundreds of dragons when celestia and luna couldn't?

Chrysalis should've never revealed herself. She finally had the lone skeptic convinced and she ruins it by imprisoning her, and outright taunting; leading her to discover the real Cadence.

 

As for Sombra...I don't think he could've done anything better. His traps and his overall stategy was well thought out, and he didn't let his ego get the better of him. He was just beat. Period.

Maniac could have done so many things better.

NMM should have been way better. Maybe kidnap them instead of trying to break them. 

Discord should have locked Twilight up.

Nightmare Moon/Luna wanted recognition, not the destruction of Equestria. Even refusing to raise the moon for as little as a day would've gotten more ponies to pay attention to her, without the side effect of looking like a tyrant.

 

For Sunset Shimmer, if she worked at the dog kennel, presumably they'd be loyal to her(if not, she could have brainwashed them like she did the teenagers). I'd still rate it better than the alternative; a fight with the Mane Six and three alicorns who just realized Twilight had to have been killed. Even if she had won, Equestria would've wound up a crater.

I always thought her plan was to get Twilight to kill the real Cadence.

 

You're right though, in that revealing herself was her biggest mistake. She should've at least tried to frame Cadence as the Changeling when she showed up at the wedding.

With NMM, I agree with Corona: refusing to raise the moon would've been more pragmatic, more sympathetic, and a pretty original angle for the pilot.

Tirek should have done something to the mane 6, like killing them or imprisoning them just like the other alicorns.

Discord could have done so much more, but the thing is, he doesn't want to hurt anypony.. he just wants to have fun.
