Need help creating an OC

I have been thinking of Ideas for my OC for ages and need some help. I was thinking he could be a pegasus. I have created 2 other OCs in the past.

 

• High Moon an earth pony who is a big fan of my second OC.
• Pink Lightning who is a racing pegasus.
  

 

I would like to hear your ideas.

(Also if someone can give me a tip on what is the best way of uploading pictures into a post I would be greatful(!SOLVED!))

I have created a sketch for my pony OC, it is not complete and I don not have a name or back story for him. It would be fantastic if you could give me feed back and ideas or if you don't really care anymore I understand.

 

Before you look at this image I must warn you that it is extremely bad some reasons for this is:

1 I am terrible artist

2 I didn't spend much time on it

3 I used a mouse

4 I was pretty tired at this stage

I think what he means by "don't make them perfect" is "don't make them too powerful".  I've been playing D & D since the 70s & one of the things I've learned is that a character that can solve all problems w a snap of their fingers gets boring fast. (Big problem w Discord, for instance)

 

As part of the back story, your most important remaining decision is "Does my new character know my old characters?"  If so, how? & what is their relationship?  This will give you their interests & that will give you their cutie mark. 

 

For instance, you mention having Pink Lightning as a famous racing Pegasus.  Mentor, rival, friend, or just knows of them?

I created my OC's design, he still needs a name. Also a background story that I am still thinking of.

For the backstory, I think the mane thing (see what I did there?) to keep in mind is that if you're gonna RP as that character, you need to either create him with personality traits that you also have OR at least be experienced in theatre. If you're unable to put yourself in his shoes and understand his motivations, you won't be able to really get into character and make him feel real. So, I'd start with his basic personality traits and build the backstory around that.

Big thing here is "What role do you see him playing in the group?"  If you are new to RP, I'd stick w a fighter.  They are the simplest to play (only real decision is "do I try to hit this or not?") plus every group needs fighters.  This will let you watch what the others are doing & learn how things work.

 

The group will also need stealth experts, lock & trap guys, & healers.  These are more complex but more interesting to play so if you are familiar w the basic game system, go w one of these types.  This gives you your Cutie Mark.  Your back story will be "how did he get these skills?"  & "why did he join the party?"
