Who are "They"?

Are "They" just the general populace, or are "They" some sort of secret organization... What do you think?

It´s a really interesting thought but sadly, as far as my grammatical knowledge goes, "they" simply means the group of people that is the focus of the meaning. Like in "Two people went to school" you could instead say "they went to school". Of course, it had been much coller if it was some nasty organization, like dystopian style.

"They" is plural but "The Man" is singular. Are They working for The Man or is it all an elaborate ruse? How does The Establishment fit into all of this? Each question provokes another until it all becomes an endless trail of mystery.

I meant like, you know when people say things like: "You know, they say..." And stuff like that. Nobody can ever describe who this they category is really referring to when questioned. Isn't it a certain group? If so, who? What do they stand for?

They guide our every action, secretly working their way into debates and arguments to support the side which fits their agenda. The educated are more likely to catch their tampering, but They want to put an end to it in their endgame plan. Once They become undetected, they have the power to manipulate everything from mundane conversations to political struggles!

 

Don't listen to They-say, nor invoke their name without purpose. That is where they get their power. It's not too late to stop them and their plan for world domination!
