ggg-2 3,553 April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 In Bloom and Gloom, one of Applebloom's main concerns was getting a non-apple cutie mark. But why? She never once showed this concern in previous episodes. Granted, when she does get her mark, it likely will at least have an apple, if only to tie her to her family. I dunno, but this was one of the reasons i didn't really enjoy Bloom and Gloom. (That and it was a "CMC has a nightmare and Luna fixes it" plot. A plot we'd already seen before.....twice. :okiedokielokie: ) Don't be a nerd. Join the herd!
BastementSparkle 20,334 April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 (edited) Because she'd never thought of it before? She was working to a goal, but never put much thought into what achieving that goal meant, and when she did, she panicked at all the negative things she thought might happen. Also, it was the third CMC/Luna episode on purpose. They wanted to do one for each of them. It dealt with a different issue than the last two, and was set up differently, with most of the episode being in the dream and less of it in reality. Unlikeable Pony 2,700 April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 This doesn't make sense to you? Haven't you ever heard of kids being afraid of their parents or family becoming angry or ashamed of the job/path they take in life or of parents very strictly wanting kids to follow in their footsteps or into a family business? It seems incredibly logical to me, even if we (the viewer) know that the apples are loving enough that they couldn't care less about what AB does with her life or what her cutie mark is. If a kid came from a family of farmers where everyone was expected to take over running the farm when they grew older and then wanted to become a hair stylist, you could see the trouble that might cause for the kid: same deal with AB.
Anilewe 2,178 April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 Because she'd never thought of it before? She was working to a goal, but never put much thought into what achieving that goal meant, and when she did, she panicked at all the negative things she thought might happen. Exactly. The same thing happened to Rapunzel at some point in Tangled. She dreamed about seeing the lights her whole life, but when she was really close to achieving her goal, she started to worry. When you have a dream you do everything you can to fulfill it and often forget that when it will come true your life will go on and you'll have to deal with the consequences of these dreams. Apple Bloom realized that she never really thought about her life AFTER getting her cutie mark. She just assumed that everything will be better, because she won't be a blank flank anymore. And cutie mark is something more than a tattoo on your butt. It defines you and in some way represents your purpose in life. It's like with kids or teenagers when they dream about being an adult. They focus on good things and forget about responsibilities. 4 Fan of Applejack? Join us! We have the best cider from Sweet Apple Acres! ORANGESEXY IS THE BEST PONY! The Awesome One 1,315 April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 She felt that since she was an Apple family member, not having an apple themed cutie-mark would make her different from all her fellow family members or she was scared that she would be rejected because she was different as seen in her nightmare. Sugar Pea 2,683 April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 Because she's part of the "Apple" family, and she was afraid that she will get kicked out or something if she got a cutie marker not related to anything apple. ℓ٥ﻻ ﻉ√٥υ
Wind Chaser 4,768 April 21, 2015 Share April 21, 2015 Of all the things a child holds dear, the family is the most important one. Though Apple Bloom's dream may have portrayed a much more exaggerated manifestation of that fear than a realistic worst-case scenario, it is a founded fear considering that family orientation is one of the most important traits of members of the Apple family. All of the core members of the family all have talents that naturally allow them to contribute to the family, and Apple Bloom does not want to be the one to break that chain and betray their legacy (at least, in her own eyes).

I dunno, but this was one of the reasons i didn't really enjoy Bloom and Gloom. (That and it was a "CMC has a nightmare and Luna fixes it" plot. A plot we'd already seen before.....twice. :okiedokielokie: ) The last two "Luna helps a CMC member" episodes, Sleepless in Ponyville and For Whom the Sweetie Belle Tolls, actually discuss different lessons: Sleepless in Ponyville: Everyone is afraid of something, and must face their fears sooner or later. It's not the story of the Headless Horse that scares Scootaloo; it's the fear of not being cool enough for Rainbow Dash's approval. For Whom the Sweetie Belle Tolls: Being jealous could lead you to do something you'll regret! Sweetie Belle sabotages her sister's work, and Luna warns her of the potential consequences that could happen if she doesn't fix it! Luna should know, considering her history of becoming Nightmare Moon out of jealousy for her more well-known sister. And like what most of the previous posts state about Bloom and Gloom: Apple Bloom's been so focus on reaching her "Getting her cutie mark" dream that she've never considered what would be next for her once it finally happens. The lessons of "As long as you are happy with yourself, it doesn't matter who or what you are" and "Your friends and family won't hate you for being yourself" were best summed up by Applejack's lullaby: Hush now, little sister. You're loved by all you know. You'll never lose your friendship, no matter where you go. There ain't no call to worry, so don't you cry or fret. A cutie mark won't change you, no matter what you get. The idea of Luna helping the CMC is used 3 times, but each time, a great lesson for kids (and sometimes, unsure adults) to learn is presented! 1 A Dragon as big as his love for Disney and has his head in the clouds literally and figuratively Ask Will Guide | Signature by Wife of Hawks | WiiGuy2014’s OCs
