Sigma, who had just checked out a book from the school's library, was rushing to physical education before coming across three pegasi who were in his previous class. It seemed as though they were all talking to each other about P.E related activities. Maybe they they were going to the gym as well; maybe Sigma should stop and talk.

 

Sigma walked up to the three pegasi, opened his mouth, and then closed it again when he realized he had nothing to say. The group wasn't given any tasks to perform, so there wasn't anything he could collaborate with them on, but as the same time, he had to say something.

 

"Uhh... hi." the white unicorn feebly said.

Skylar nodded approvingly. "Boxing and racing, huh? Seems like we all will get along just dandy!" And even though Lightning didn't seem to be interested in a Pegasus-Master-Race club, she wasn't worried. She would befriend him and then peer pressure him into it.

 

She watched the white unicorn from earlier approach. She stared at him as he stood there, a little bit ridiculously, mouth opening and closing-- rather like her friend Meg's codfish, she reflected.

 

 

 

"Uhh... hi." the white unicorn feebly said.

 

She stared at him. Suddenly, everything clicked-- the unicorn was flirting with her! Why else would he look so awkward? He had been taking command in that last class because he wanted to show off! He wanted to show her what a good leader he was..! He was alright, she would give him that. And now, he was finally building up the courage to approach her.. and he just couldn't find the words upon being face to face with her, the beautiful pegasus!

 

Not that she was beautiful or anything, she thought, very modestly, running a hoof through her hair. But he thought so... what a romantic..! He wasn't so bad looking himself. He would probably look better when they went on their first date. Come on, a tall, white unicorn stallion like him... how jealous her friends would be back home..!

 

She went right up to his face and batted her eyelashes. "Hello," she purred. It didn't quite come out as she wanted it to, but hey, it was probably still attractive to someone as love-struck as he was.

Lighting turned.

"Hey ma-"

He stopped as Skylar rushed past him, nearly sending him flying, to stand too close for comfort to the white stallion.

He opened his eyes wide, she was batting her eyelashes and talking weirdly.

He turned to Sketchy.

"What exactly just happened?"

Sigma, who couldn't take a romantic hint if it smacked him on the head and yelled 'Marry me!', completely disregarded the mare and addressed the pegasi as a whole.

 

"Are you all heading to the gym?" he asked. "I opted out of my P.E classes when I was going to school back in Mustangia, but that option doesn't seem to be available at this school unless you're physically disabled. If I'm given the option, I'll probably just read on the sidelines the entire time."

Sketchy turned towards the Unicorn who had greeted the "hey wasuuh-" he was cut off by Skylar, sketchy made a dumb confused look as Skylar began to act all strange when the Unicorn showed up *dis jus got weird*

Sketchy turned his head toward Lightning "I ain't got no clue man..." He replied quietly, chuckling a bit at Skylar's Awkwardness "she hittin' on him" he whispered, almost laughing.

"...Are you all just going to stand there?" Sigma asked confusedly. The two stallions were giving him strange looks, whispering to each other while the mare was up to her nonsensical shenanigans. He was starting to feel a bit out of place, and was wondering if he should just leave.

Skylar sighed. Oh well. He was going to pretend as though he wasn't interested. She would get him to admit his interest in her eventually, though, with her dazzling flirting capabilities.

 

"Yeah..." she said, frowning slightly. "Where is the P.E. teacher? Seriously..." the bell hadn't rung yet, but she decided to get mad at him anyway, because getting angry at teachers for no reason was always fun.

Lightning dropped his board on the ground and stepped onto it.

"Hm, well class hasn't started. So I guess we gotta wait."

He turned and pushed open the doors, revealing the massive gymnasium. There were punching bags, even a basketball hoop.

"Woah.."

He stared. He broke out of his trance and sped in on his board. Fresh ground for him to shred. He noticed the rude pony sitting on one of the benches.

Sigma walked in after Lightning. "I forgot to bring a pen and a sheet of paper with me. Ah well, maybe the coach has a black board and chalk he uses to discuss game plans to hoofball players that I can use." Sigma thought for a moment. "It would also help if he has a slide rule stashed somewhere."

 

The white unicorn then took a seat on the nearest bench (unknowingly, right across from the pony last class who was making rude remarks), cracked open his book, and began to read.

 

(In case you're wondering, this is what a slide rule is. I didn't think it would be reasonable to say Equestria had calculators.)

Fascinating. Truly fascinating. "You're a mecha-pone (cyborg), with magitanium integrated in your body in such a way that adding more would make it effectively grow with you as the metal is absorbed and distributed. And physically blind. Can you tell me about your parents? I'm sure my parents would be interested in meeting them. We don't have a division that makes Magitek for the disabled, so this could be great for them if they'd be interested in having Bolt Solutions bring this to market."

 

I was still scanning her, for science of course. I was sure we had a lot in common, so picking her brain might be fun. "Don't you have class now, um?" Then I suddenly realized since I'd marked everyone present and didn't take roll, I didn't know her name. "Well this is embrarassing. You know my name but I don't know yours, heh." I hoped I wasn't red in the face right now.

Aurora nods and says, "As fir that first onr you'll have to talk to my parents. My name is Quantum Aurora, but please call me Aurora. My parents are researchers for the advanced Magiteck division of the canterlot arcane society. They work directly with the ministry of magic and arcane sciences.

 

As for what I am. You could say that. Mom surgically replaced my Nervus system with Magitanium Wireing to stem off the effects of neurological decay. She then had to replace much of my skeleton with Magitanium to prevent further decay of it. The sight receptors of my nervous system are decayed beyond repair and are to close to me brain to surgically replace. Besides I was born blind.

 

I possess a mana flux matrix core around my heart to help keep me from decaying further.

 

I have what's known as total shutdown syndrome. It is a very rare condition that causes death by the age of five.

 

If it wasn't for my parents at age three I wouldn't have been able to walk or learn to fly. They designed my wings and legs so I could have as normal of a life as possible. It wasn't until I was bullied for the first time I realized I could see everything around me. I had sight again.

 

Now I have developed a similar technical understanding to my parents and help when I don't have school. Next period is P.E. and being Physically disabled means I don't have to do that class. So yea I have a free period and my lunch period as well. Do you have any mana stones? I could use a snack."

 

Dang is this filly smart. She even has the support of the ministry of magic and arcane sciences. No wonder she got into this school.

Sketchy trotted into the gym and his mouth dropped to the floor "ho-ly sh*t..." He said still looking around with his mouth wide open "this is truly Impressive for a school gym!" He stated looking around at the big basketball court with tall bleachers on each side.

 

 

Then through the front door barges in the P.E. Teacher who was looking at a clipboard with the attendance sheet. he was a tall light brown stallion wearing a t-shirt saying 'Canterlot High Hoofball' and a necklace with a whistle on it. He looks up and blows the whistle "Will everyone Please take a seat on the bleachers, and I will introduce myself." He commanded pointing a hoof to the right.

Sigma looked up for a brief moment, and continued to read his book while getting up and finding a seat on the first row of the bleachers.

 

"Ugh, please don't require us to do anything." the stallion thought to himself. "I just want to sit down and read this book."

Lightning looked towards the authority in the room.

"It's about time."

He slowly rolled over to the bleachers, taking a seat near Sigma.

He watched Sketchy look around in awe at the whole gym, he chuckled to himself, his reaction was too funny, he too was amazed.

Skylar was examining a basketball pole. She flew up to the rim of the hoop and slowly stuck her hoof through one of the holes in the string, giggling slightly. She suddenly wondered whether she could fit through the hoop...

 

Without any other prompting needed, she proceeded to fly through the top of the hoop. She suddenly noticed how... skinny it was. She couldn't... get... her... hind legs... through!

 

She panted, pushing against the hoop furiously. She was stuck! Buck! Her head was miserably trapped at the bottom of the net. She groaned as she saw the teacher enter. Her wings flapped vaguely.

 

Oh boy, this was embarrassing. Well, maybe if she convinced everyone she'd done it on purpose...

 

She backed out of the hoop. Her head was still trapped in the net. She began flapping furiously and dragged the entire pole over to the bleachers. She landed on the rim of the hoop which creaked.

 

"Present," she said, cheerfully as always.

Sigma glanced over at the crazy mare's situation, yelled "Try removing the net from the rim!", and continued to read. Moments later, his eyes widened, his head jerked towards the mare, and he thought to himself "What the-... Why!?"

 

Sigma took a deep breath and waited a moment to regain his composure. "I don't want any part of this." he then thought to himself before continuing to read.

sketchy sat on the bleachers next to Lightning. He stared at Slylar who was messing around with a basketball hoop, sketchy grinned, he found it to be a somewhat adorable. "Smooth move" He said jokingly.

 

The P.E. Teacher glared at the mare "What on earth were you thinking?!" He trotted towards her and removed the net from her head.

"If you're going to use the equipment, don't be doing crap like that." He said to her. He steps back and looks at the class "welcome to physical education! Let me introduce myself, I am Mr. Horseshoe, you can call me Mr. H, and I will be your P.E. Teacher for the year. I used to be a Drill Sergeant in the Equestrian Armed Forces." He had a loud voice that echoed through the court, you could probably hear him from a mile away if he was whispering. "Today we are going down to the track, where you will receive further instruction."

Skylar sat proudly on the bench next to Lightning and Sketchy, though inwardly she was wilting. Keep your head up! Pretend like your not as embarrassed as you actually are! She puffed out her chest.

 

Mr. H, huh? He seemed okay. She beamed at the mention of the track. "Oh, yeah!" She said ecstatically, previous incident with the hoop already forgotten.

Aurora says, "I see. I can always pull them from my lunch. As for the geek out and lunch with the teachers I am more then happy to."

 

Aurora hugs Lektra. She then asks, "I think a student may be missing P.E. The student is still asleep at the desk. Should we wake her before talking?"

Sigma, who was sitting next to Lightning in the gym, said nothing as he turned a page in his book.

 

"Let's see, if the conjecture holds for n=0, and it holds for n+1 when it holds for n, then..."  Sigma had completely tuned out the gym coach, and was instead trying to see if he could prove a conjecture in the book he was reading with mathematical induction.

Lightning sighed. Track? He was tired, so he doubted he was gonna go well in anything they're gonna do.

"And what exactly are we going to be doing at the track?" He said looking at Mr H.

He lazily looked at his teacher, he looked as if he'd served in the army, he looked tough, but nothing to be afraid of.

Tranq stirred after what seemed like a much longer time than the class should have run to find herself alone in a dark classroom. I guess I kinda did tell them to leave me alone, she thought to herself shrugging. She sighed, pushing her sunglasses up onto her forehead and squinted at her schedule. She hated that she had refer to the thing, it made her feel completely loser-ish. She scoffed. PE? I don't freakin' think so. Close enough to the end of the day, I'm going the hell home. Letting her sunglasses slide back into place, she walked to the door of the otherwise empty room and peeked around.  Listening briefly and hearing no hooves, she slunk out of the classroom.

Beguiling Blush was feeling a little lost. Unsure what to do, she decided to patrol for roaming students. She was about to round a corner when she saw a young dark blue mare sidle from a dark classroom. She cocked her head and stepped back to watch what the girl would do.

Mr. H looked up at the stallion who asked the question "we will be going to the track where you guys will do a 400 yard run, and I will time you, so that I have an somewhat of an idea of your running abilities.". He explained "Now let's head out!" He shouted to the class as he walked towards the door, and held it open for the students.

 

Sketchy sighed "man, I hate running... It's so boring." He groaned "I wish we could do, like, pull-ups, or push-ups, or somethin'..."

Sigma book marked his page, closed his book, put it down, and then proceeded to slowly walk towards the door. While he stopped reading the book, he was still thinking about the contents that it had, and was hardly any more attentive now than he was before.

400 Yards? At this point of exhaustion he'd never make it.

He was contemplating on ditching this class.

Even though the distance wasn't long, and he could probably run it in a short time, Mr H was grading the class on running ability and he wasn't up to his usual physical prowess.

Watching the girl try to slink out of the classroom, Beguiling Blush cleared her throat. "I do hope you're trying not to get caught going to your next class, and weren't planning on trying to leave the grounds early. Truancy on your first day is not the best way to start the new year. Your schedule please, dear."

"Physical education, hmm? I think I will keep you company on your walk to your next class, lest you get lost again." The two arrived at the gym without another word between them. Luckily the gym was one of the few placed Blush knew where it was. She quickly picked out the coach, and approached him, now know much about him aside that he was in charge. "I seem to have found a straggler. She looked ready to run when I found her, so perhaps a few extra laps for this one would take some of the excess energy out of her."
