You did pretty good!

 

The lighting and shading is well spot on. I like how the muzzle looks like a bit it's popping outgiving it a 3D effect! And the hair texture is not bad!

I also like how the eyes look! Quite shiny too. ^.^

The texturing in the hair is probably the weakest part of this attempt now that I look at it, I'm going to take a look at some tutorials to better my abilities in that area.
