Ezynell 2,037 November 17, 2011 Share November 17, 2011 A Synchtube marathon would be great, if we could somehow tie donations into it. Don't like the idea of $1/per like, though - it'll sound like a ploy to get more likes on your profile. That would be a pretty pathetic ploy though. Who would pay a dollar to get a like on there profile? I thought it would be more like that donation thing that alot of people do on YouTube: GAK
Fghik 360 November 17, 2011 Share November 17, 2011 Why not throw a contest between ALL the pony fan-sites? Whoever gets the most money donated wins complete and total bragging rights to being 20% cooler than everypony else! All we'd have to do is get in contact with some of the admins on the various pony sites. And then have a live tally of some sort to count the money. I'm sure the bigger sites will win (EqD...) But charity is charity, and I think we could raise the most money this way. Think of it, tons of bronies competing to have the official title of being 20% cooler? We'd have a World War 3 going on. Perhaps a possible solution to this would be based on the number of users? So sites with more active users need a higher donation count? Besides... EqD will probably mention the contest and all the participants anyway, so we'd still be getting some site traffic. 1 But what do I know? I'm just a stupid kid. ҉ .Eternal ¸.•'´¯Chaos¯´'•.¸Comes¸.•'´¯With¯´'•.¸Chocolate¸.•'´¯Rain ҉
Grendo 174 November 17, 2011 Share November 17, 2011 Offering perks to donors sounds nice, but completely defeats the point of the charitable event to begin with. We'll be doing this for a hospital, and although I expect us to gain some media exposure as a site, it's not about us - it's about them. So contributors to the event will get absolutely no special recognition here. If you want donor status and perks here, make a donation to us, not a hospital. Eh....... not exactly what I was looking for. We want to put a physical package together to deliver to a children's hospital. A project like yours sounds like a fun fan project and I'd let you upload it to our gallery if you'd like, but I can't see it tying into a charitable event. Yes. Toys would be awesome. Everything we do with this project will benefit a single organization, which will most likely be a children's hospital (I practically live beside one, and it's quite well known). I like the idea of commissioning art and having all the proceeds go towards the organization. That way, the more art you produce, the more money AND posters there will be to give (not to mention some money will also be needed to cover printing costs). Don't start any commission threads yet, though. There's still a lot left to organize first before we get anything going. A Synchtube marathon would be great, if we could somehow tie donations into it. Don't like the idea of $1/per like, though - it'll sound like a ploy to get more likes on your profile. Perhaps, but I'm not sure if a hospital would be interested in a poem. You could provide artwork. I shall indeed do that. Would take a TON of cross-organization and planning but it could be epic. Each fansite could have its own charity/hospital/shelter/etc they're representing. Feather Spiral 1,892 November 17, 2011 Share November 17, 2011 (edited) How about a poem? One group of ponies can provide some artwork, while another spices up a poem to go along with it. If this is accepted, I'll enter the poetry group. I find it way better than just sending art and/or money with nothing on the side. I mean, sure, it's nice to help financially and give them some visual stimuli. But why miss the occasion to put some food for the soul on top? AppleShy Sparkle 312 November 17, 2011 Share November 17, 2011 (edited) I would gladly help if i could. If my dad knew i was part of this forum and wanted to use Paypal, (there was a virus on our computer the last time he used it, drained his entire account, so i don't whink he wants to use it anymore) i would gladly give some money. Since i can't however, i would happily try to make some artwork or similiar. Edited November 17, 2011 by AppleShy Sparkle Better run, run, run, run, run. Founder Twilight Sparkle ✨ 8,526 November 18, 2011 Founder Share November 18, 2011 All right, I think we've got a decent idea of what people are willing to contribute. Now, it's time to start thinking specifics. How would you all feel about running this event for the BC Children's Hospital? It's quite well known, and I live within driving distance of it, so I can deliver a package to them personally. What's more, on their website, they have a list of donor items they're looking for, and they specifically listed My Little Pony toys as a franchise that was in demand. See their full wishlist here: http://www.bcchildre...ishList2011.doc If you're all OK with supporting this particular hospital with our event, I can give them a call tomorrow to tell them about what we plan to do and ask a few questions. 3 Avatar credit: robinrain8 Signature credit: Kyoshi

So what about poetry? I've already stated why I think it's better than visual art alone. Even if I can't donate money, that'll be at least one thing I can freely give. Also, if I know the address (the hospital's or Peter's), I could send a few toys or board games of mine that we haven't played in ages. Not to mention color markers/pastels I haven't touched since my childhood. And even a few Wii games I've never played more than once or twice. LOL my parents (especially dad) would have a heart attack, if they knew I would send gifts to anyone I don't know. I think my mother would approve of going that distance for less fortunate children though. Edited November 18, 2011 by Feather Spiral I take writing commissions. European Wii games won't work on Canadian Wiis, either. I'll ask them about poetry. So, any movement on the charity front? Sorry - with the full release of Minecraft yesterday, I procrastinated a bit with making that phone call. -_- I'm not sure if their department for that takes phone calls on weekends, so I'll try on Monday. However, I did have a chat with one of my martial arts instructors and found out that their organization sometimes supports non-profit fundraisers and charity events, so we might get some corporate support out of that! Gotcha - wasn't sure if the support would be something more along the lines of just having information posted than outright cash donations. At any rate, if that manages to come through, it could be quite helpful.

Josh 108 November 20, 2011 Share November 20, 2011 A games marathon sounds good. What about baking rainbow cupcakes and 'ponifying' them somehow and having some sort of brony bake-sale. Perhaps some skilled bronies could make some plushies and sell/auction them for charity. Not really great ideas. But I want to participate in this somehow. Maybe by sending some pictures / get well cards as well as trying to fundraise.
