I've had the misfortune of stumbling onto those videos, so, what do i think of Smile HD and Rainbow Factory? They're garbage to me.  :maud:

I, personally, am not a fan of horror and gore (with the exception of zombie flicks). Rainbow Factory and other MLP horror fics go right past me, unbothering.

Smile HD, on the other hoof, is genuinely disturbing. I know the point of it was to baffle and amuse, but it doesn't sit right with me. I'm sorry, I'm a wimp, but I couldn't finish the whole video. Excessive violence and gore does not amuse me in the slightest, but for those who enjoy horror and gore, have at it, hoss.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts :P

Smile HD is better, at least it's actually kinda funny.

Compared to Rainbow Factory, Smile HD's purpose to amuse and cause bewilderment among it's viewers. It's basically in a way as "dark humor". It's a complete twisted short that would surely give someone a fright and cause bafflement and twists the show truly. Fan fictions and videos like Rainbow Factory are certainly grimdark but I prefer Smile HD because it humors you in the darkest of ways and I consider it more gruesome than Rainbow Factory. (Have you seen the amount of blood in that video? Not to mention how Pinkie destories the world after RIPPING THE LIVING FLESH OFF of poor Fluttershy. (Worse is that I was 11 when I saw the video so I was traumaized for awhile and wanted Fluttershy to win. :P )

But it's fasted paced and uses the song "Smile Smile Smile". A generally postivite, warm and welcoming, happy song to truly spread some smiles around. Not to mention the flashy animation and graphic violence but with a usually cheerful and innocent song playing. Worse is that in the video Pinkie is making her friends "smile" while killing them in a gruesome matter. And also let's not forget Pinkie's facial expressions and DBZ-styled fight with Fluttershy. The video takes something postivite and blissful like the song "Smile Smile Smile" and turns it into a killer death trap! But it's used in a rather comedic way and sometimes you can't take the video seriously.

Let's also not forget the funny reactions. A friend of mine on MLPForums was watching the video and his teacher showed the class the video for being nosy and the whole class was in shock. Then my friend's teacher was like forget about it and continue your work. :P

All in all I slightly prefer Smile HD for it's use of dark humor.

But Rainbow Factory I'll give credit for story. It's interesting and it's not as graphic as Smile HD but it's still pretty grimdark and a tragic story. With Scootaloo failing the test and seeing the not-so-cheerful factory (it would have been better for her if it was Willy Wonka, for sure!) As well as the terrifying truth inside. Unlike Smile HD which isn't mean to really be taken seriously with no real story. All there is that it starts off with Rainbow Dash defeating Pinkie Pie for a bit before Pinkie goes insane. Why would Rainbow Dash be attacking her in the first place even? O_o Especially with the other Mane Six in the background treating it as normal...
