request Equestria map morphing into U.S?

I'm working on a project, and for it I'd like to have a visual of the map of Equestria morphing into a map of North America.

 

I tried doing it on my own using Gimp and some plugins, but it looks pretty terrible. It was mostly just fading from one image to the other with some parts moving around here and there all weird. Anyway, I'd like something to show how Equestria might be based on the U.S. The biomes seem to match, with the swampy area being northern Florida and the badlands and deserts being the southwest. 

 

If someone could make a decent looking morph using photoshop or something, I would really appreciate it!
