Skyrim is the only game that I got over 100 hours of gameplay in within the first 2 weeks of buying it.

It was released in late 2011 and is still to this very day, one of the best games ever created, if not the best.

But what makes Skyrim special?

Is it the vast world, the environment, or is it the lore?

I say it's all of the above.

It's a wonderful game, and I'd recommend it to any gamer out there.

So let's all talk about this masterpiece of an RPG.

My favorite build is the Illusion/Sneak/Archery High Elf I've gotten to level 44 with. There's nothing quite like sniping a dozen bandits before conjuring a frost elemental to pound the last one into the ground.

I have a love/hate relationship with this game.  ~800 hours on it, did everything, including DLCs, love it to pieces, and I would say, easily, hooves down, that it's the greatest game ever made, if not for the performance issues and bugs.  The problems weren't bad enough to turn me off to the game, just bad enough to be frustrating at times.  Given the scope of the game and what it is, I can let some of it slide.  But it's just a bummer that such a masterpiece had to be a little soured.  Comparitively, I've played every Final Fantasy and Zelda game, and never experienced one crash or bug that would inhibit gameplay.  Not even a framerate hiccup, really.  But, look at what Skyrim is compared to those.  When NPCs are basically just inert, kinematic objects, with the only interaction being speech, there's not much that can go wrong.

Anyway...the pros greatly outweigh the cons, and I still love it.  Skyrim is like Lost--should have and would have been the greatest show ever made, if not for some unfortunate souring.  But Skyrim is great.  It really is.  I played as a female Khajit named Ophelia.  I started out as an archer and destruct mage, which was the only way I could effectively survive the hardest difficulty.  By the end, of course, I was godly, and preferred to play as a duel-short sword tank.

For awhile, I played a little email game with a friend called "Skyrim is..."  Here, I'll start.  You'll get the idea real quick.

Skyrim is watching the sunrise over Lake Ilinalta from the back deck of your mansion while your family is still asleep.

Okay, now you try.

I either play as a Nord or Imperial.

This is because I have a deep passion for melee combat.

Also I prefer Heavy armour and I ALWAYS choose duel battle axes.

Battle axes because they do more damage than swords, and are more light-weight than maces.

In terms of magic, I mostly focus on restoration spells.

If you go one handed weapons I recomend Red guard, Since it's one of their best skills from start. 25 I belive :)

Ah, Skyrim.

I have played significantly more Morrowind and Oblivion, clocking about 1000 hours on the both of them over about seven years. Skyrim, I have about 300 hours on as of right now since release, and I've only played on my one character.

He is an Altmer, his name is Peter Rupert, and I love him to pieces. I'm not sure where the name or the horrible backstory I made in my head for him came from, but he's incredibly depressed and his only friends are his summoned familiars, who he has to watch explode into the abyss every 60 seconds. So he's constantly casting new ones. (There is a reason his Conjuration got really high really fast.)

Peter Rupert is basically useless in combat. He favours Conjuration and Alteration, and a little bit of Restoration, so most of his time is spent egging on his familiars to kill things for him.

He dies.

A lot.

Thinking of running another account with blunt and HA because I like the idea of smashing through everything willy-nilly. Altmer is my favourite race, so will likely continue on the path of using them.

Because I have nothing else better to do (or I'm pretending as such) here's a list of all the skill boosts for the different races, along with abilities & such.

Argonian

+10 Lockpicking

+5 Alteration, Light Armor, Pickpocket, Restoration, Sneak

ACTIVES: Histskin, 10x Health Regen for one minute, once a day

PASSIVES: 50% Disease Resistance, Underwater Breathing, +6 Unarmed Damage

Notes: Considering the skill boosts, the anthropomorphic lizard race is good as a Nightblade-style character, with more of an emphasis on stealth than magic. The Disease Resistance and Underwater Breathing are purely convenience, and don't really help much. Since - let's face it - NOBODY uses fists, the Unarmed boost is also pretty negligible. Histskin, while not incredibly useful on its own, can be... interesting if optimized right.

Breton

+10 Conjuration

+5 Alchemy, Alteration, Illusion, Restoration, Speech

ACTIVES: Dragonskin, 50% Spell Absorption for one minute, once a day

PASSIVES: 25% Magic Resistance

Starts with spell Conjure Familiar

Notes: Bretons are a really good race, in my opinion, the skill boosts directing it towards a more mage-y style. The magic resistance is pretty helpful, and Conjuration can be really useful, especially if you're not planning to use any Destruction spells. Conjure Familiar is the most basic Conjuration spell, but really helpful against tough spellcasters, i.e., Necromancer dungeon bosses or vampires.

Dark Elf

+10 Destruction

*i got bored i'll finish this later*

Skyrim is one of my favorite games and easily one of the best I've played in my life. My first character was Argonian named Velkatraz. I made the name a long ass time ago when I was still in Elementary school, so don't ask me why it's weird xD! It was given to some anthromorphic reptile character I made during the time, so seeing that's what Argonians are, I thought it seemed fitting.

Anyway, since this was my first time playing a game like this, Velkatraz had skills everywhere, but there was a basic foundation which I use on pretty much all of my characters. Max out smithing, heavy armor, one handed, destruction, conjuration, archery, and sneaking, then choose what I consider to be the best skills from those trees to use up the remaining skill points.

I still play as an Argonian, but now I typically just play as an Altmer. Both are my favorite races though, with Argonian having a slighter edge simply because they were the first race I ever played as.

I've played through the DLCs, and I'd say I enjoyed Dragonborn the most. Solstheim was a cool place to explore, with plenty of new quests and enemies to mess around with. I also enjoyed Dragonborn's new shouts more than Dawnguard's because they felt more ancient and attuned with the true nature of dragons. Dawnguard's were cool, but they felt more like dark magic than anything else.

I liked Miraak as a villain, though it's a shame we don't see much of him outside of him being a douche and stealing your dragon souls. Also, I loved how they heavily involved Hermaeus Mora into the main quest and Solstheim's history. He's easily my top Daedric Lord what with the whole forbidden knowledge and Lovecraftian vibe going on.

I fashioned my online name from the Thu'um language. I'd type about it, but it's already there on my profile anyway, so yeah :P.

(edited)

Started a new account today, and decided not to go with Altmer this time, because as much as I love them it's more interesting to try out different races as well.

I selected an Imperial, because in true fashion I'm treating this as a "run around and do stupid things" game than a "let's be serious and actually get somewhere" game. So far, I have plans for his highest skills to be Speech, Enchanting, Alchemy, Illusion, and Pickpocket.

Once more, it's time to let the NPC's do all the real work.

I miss the Oblivion skill trees. :(

Oh, his name is Pierre Ramone, by the way. I only put in "Pierre" but whatever.

Edit:

Going to start another playthrough of Oblivion. The only races I haven't tried on it are Khajit and Argonian, so I think I'll go Argonian because lizard men. :)

I like this game a lot. I used to have a level 74 Breton character a while ago but I started a new game and now I'm a 34 Orc. I also like some of the lines the guards say in the game, I have the Volendrung and guards say "What do you intend to with that hammer friend, knock down a house?" :P

In my opinion, there is no such thing as "Worst Pony". Everypony is awesome in their own way, and it is what makes them truly special. :)

I would absolutely love it if they ported Skyrim to the next gen consoles, that would be soooo good. :) I played through it on Xbox 360 and even then it was amazing. The world is really dark and dreary compared to oblivion but I love the cold, snow atmosphere of it all. Just exploring was a blast. I chose an imperial and my main method of combat was sword in one hand and spells in the other, usually healing spells to keep those on hand, literally. Some of my favorite moments were just simply walking through the snowy mountains while a small blizzard was happening, that was just serene. <3

If and when this becomes backwards compatible to the Xbox One, I will definitely be starting a new game. :3

I'd much rather just wait until the next installment in the franchise. I've got a good feeling we're going to be exploring the Aldmeri Dominion, and watching it collapse for the next one, given all the foreshadowing in Skyrim.

I suppose, I just love the world of Skyrim a lot. I love cold weather and snow and snowy mountains, things like that and Skyrim has that in full. :3 It might be my favorite Elder Scrolls world because of it and it would be cool if they could somehow port it over without comprising the sequel that we know is coming, especially since it came late into the life cycle of the last-gen consoles.
