Have the haters gone too far?

Probably going to get a lot of hate for this but, whatever: my experience with the brony fandom has been mostly negative. In fact, insanely so. This is more or less the only place I visit now it's so bad. I have been bullied, harassed, treated like garbage and even seen bronies use their "love and tolerate" motto as a justification to behave so poorly. Not only myself, but my friends too have had negative experiences. So I can totally see what people are talking about.

 

The brony fandom likes to act like it's "special" and some even believe it'll change the world. It's a show. That's all it is. I can see legitimately why the "haters" don't like the fandom, it's full of people who DO in fact kind of take the whole pony thing too far. A lot of these people feel the need to call being a brony a "lifestyle" and you see lots of terrible crap about bronies all the time. The insane amounts of porn, the guy who married a Twilight plushie, etc. etc. Then what's irritating the most to these people and possibly the worst defense you can mount is when people who are legitimately criticizing the fandom as a whole you get the following line:

 

"Well, that's the vocal minority."

 

This is possibly the worst thing you can say to a "hater" because it's little more than a cop-out. A lot of other fandoms admit which parts of their fandoms suck, but bronies have a tendency to defend the fandom and the people who are generating the negative stereotype they dislike so much. Hell, there are users on this very site who have gone after users for not wanting to call themselves bronies, myself included claiming we are encouraging these negative stereotypes because we don't want to be associated with the rest of the group (which totally isn't even the reason why I'm not a brony). Instead of going after the REAL problem, bronies tend to adopt the motto of "love and tolerate" when it comes to people doing insanely stupid things.

 

I'm sorry, but as time goes on, the "vocal minority" seems to be getting bigger. Pony porn is like the second biggest tag on Rule 34, people are collectively starting to view this fandom as "worse" than furries, which is an achievement in itself. Perhaps it's time to stop excusing everything as the "vocal minority" and start chastising these people? I know people who defend artists who draw piss art. I.e. Scat pony porn in this fandom. If even 1 or 2 sane people go to them and tell them that it's gross, they get a mob defending them.

 

Being a brony is not a "lifestyle" it's liking a cartoon, accept that. Stand up to people doing stupid crap in your fandom, and don't excuse them to outsiders. When an outsider says "Man bronies suck for X reason" if their reason is valid, don't try to brush it under the rug. Just be like "Yeah, those people do suck, lol." Trolls and haters get bored telling a fandom that knows it's bad that it's bad. Homestuck fans are despised but you rarely see the hate on them because Homestuck fans ADMIT their fandom sucks. It's no fun to troll them.

I see few posts here mentions what I would post about but about the haters, I haven't seen much of it but less in 2015. Maybe I'm not finding them at the wrong places but they aren't my concern right now. If I see one I make sure they will stay blocked immediately, and along with sending a report if I feel ticked off.

 

That's the haters though but I do see things why they getting out of control like everything must be ponified or making similar fan pony games like Fighting is Magic is similar to Marvel vs Capcom 3 or some mods like Final Fantasy that has ponies, or even games like Ponymon that's a lot like Pokemon. I'm sure they're more reason than this on why the haters just hate the bronies but that's on them though.

 

To wrap this up. I'm a half brony and like MLP every once a while but the moment they first introduced Equestria Girls, all my loves and likes for MLP went there. I prefer humans in my life than ponies and I hope they understand that. If I got a crush on animated/cartoon characters, it'll be off from Equestria Girls instead...but yeah. It's best to simply ignore the haters as there is nothing to gain from them. Haters will be the reason why MLP will get more attention and rack in more people into actually liking the show after seeing it.

I am writing this post sort of as a vent, but I want to see people's opinions on this subject. I have never personally encountered a true hater who looked down upon me for liking MLP. However, all I see on Youtube is people saying, "Burn in hell, Bronies" or "The reason I don't like bronies is because they shove stuff in people's faces." What are they talking about? Before I became interested in the show, I have never noticed this. Sure, it may have happened when the trend first began, but now I think things have settled down... Except for the haters. The reason there are so many haters is because they claim we "shove stuff down their throats." I think it has gone as far as them believing this is true because of how many people accept the idea that it is what we do. These people just assume that's what we do because it has become a recognized concept. It just makes me so angry because I have no evidence of bronies actually doing this as much as they say (except maybe on Pony videos where haters make intentional comments).

 

Also, if someone comments on something and has a Pony profile picture but says nothing related to ponies, some smart-ass has to say, "DIE BRONY." Is it really the bronies that are shoving stuff down the people's throats? Or is it the haters who keep pulling the fandom into everyday life? 

 

For the most part, I have noticed that bronies generally keep to themselves, except for a select few, that is.

Oh, just ignore those pointless comments and if you can, delete them. They just do it because they don't understand Friendship is Magic or they just do it to cause trouble.

My Little Hater: Ignoring Is Magic. 

 

In that little name is hidden a thing that should be done, when You encounter hater. Trying to reason with them is pointless when they use this utterly outdated argument that they have MLP shoved down their throats. I use YouTube daily and only ponies I see are in avatars. And if someone is acting like that because of a stupid avatar then I think it's a brain check time. I dislike some stuff too and I don't go around whining, because someone likes it and shows it by, for example avatar on his profile. 

 

Besides I mentioned it few times in past - some haters like seeing us as lesser beings and do all this crap just to boost their own ego. You know "hey, I am not that bad, because there's always that scum, brony, who is worse than me!" and other ridiculous nonsense like that. 

 

Fun fact is that some of those people may be closet bronies, because of famous rule "You don't want people to know You like something? Pretend You hate it!". It is working with many things, even homosexuality lol

 

 

And have they gone too far? They have long ago. But it's partially our fault, because we give them attention. Don't forget some haters do all this stuff only to troll us and have fun while nomming popcorn in their basements.

Have haters gone too far? Often yes but this isn't anything new for internet has many undesirables.

 

Is true that, at least in recent years, Bronies are falsely acused of forcing MLPFIM onto others. Double standard is noted; Bronies are accused of forcing MLPFIM simply from having pony avatar yet people say nothing when anime, furry, comic characters, etc. are present. That is based from my observation anyway.

Honestly, I don't see why I should care if someone hates me for liking My Little Pony. If they want to get that upset/angry over me watching a show then that's their problem, not mine. 

 

Besides, I don't see people attacking bronies as much as I used to. I think it has calmed down a bit.
