PonyHag1 591 April 18, 2012 Share April 18, 2012 The host of American Bandstand and $25,000 Pyramid passed away at the age of 82. He was also the host of Dick Clark's Rockin' New Years' Eve. "Mr. The Dragon!" - Ms. Harshwhinny

PeachPalette 1,000 April 18, 2012 Share April 18, 2012 This really does sadden me. I really thought it took guts to host New Years Eve RIGHT after his stroke. He was a good man and will be missed. 1 The Hyper,The Deviant, The Shy, The Level Headed (Multiple personality color codes)

Sight Watcher 15 April 19, 2012 Share April 19, 2012 I've never heard of this guy...what else did he do? Dick Clark hosted American Bandstand from 1956 to 1989. Over those decades Dick Clark helped bring many of pop culture's most infamous musical acts of all time to the public eye. Due to constantly introducing fresh and new acts Clark has long been referred to by the nickname "America's Oldest Teenager". In 1993 he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame due to his work in bringing so many groups/acts to the public's attention. Here's a list of all the acts that appeared on American Bandstand: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_acts_who_appeared_on_American_Bandstand As far as TV personas/faces go Dick Clark is without a doubt one of the most iconic faces in the history of television. Fox 5,330 April 19, 2012 Share April 19, 2012 I guess I was too young to actually see it on TV; since I wasn't born, but RIP Dick Clark. We thank you for your accomplishments.

Sight Watcher 15 April 19, 2012 Share April 19, 2012 (edited) I guess I was too young to actually see it on TV; since I wasn't born, but RIP Dick Clark. We thank you for your accomplishments. I was too young to see American Bandstand...I did see him as host of New Year's Rockin Eve. As for how I know about his contributions to the music industry: whenever you're looking up rock and pop music history, or even looking up the origins of a popular band/performer you may like from the 50s-80s odds are you're going to eventually stumble upon how Dick Clark and American Bandstand helped launch careers. Just lots of history of great performers. For the 50th Anniversary of the show in 2002 they featured the last live performance of Michael Jackson (not including rehearsals for This Is It). It was one of the few shows Jackson as a solo-performer would appear on frequently in the 80s. Anyways: Time for a picture R.I.P. Dick Clark - May the world continue to rock Edited April 19, 2012 by Sight Watcher My FiMFiction account http://www.fimfictio...r/Sight Watcher
