Refund chuckled when Dapper gave the impression that he was talking too much. "Don't worry, you're not a bother," Refund told him. "I can maybe talk your ear off about accounting and finances but it would bore you out of your coat. I can't resist the occasional crossword puzzle when I have time off." The two stopped when they came to the end of the path marked by a door with a deck of cards dropping from the ceiling. Refund tried to door with his hoof but it wouldn't budge. He then walked back to where the deck of cards lay on the floor. "Is this part of the puzzle?" he asked, hoping to confirm his thinking with Dapper.

Dapper looked at the cards quizzically. "It might be part of the puzzle," Said Dapper as he picked up the deck of cards, "then again it could just be a plain old pack of playing cards," Dapper thought for a moment. He shrugged and looked over at Refund, "know any good card tricks?"

The monster looked like it was some sort of variation on Discord himself. It was curled up. It wouldn't be a good idea to wake it...because unlike Discord...this monster had a short temper. But, if the two ponies looked up...there was an analog timer with crooked hands...

Cresent raked his brian trying to figer out a safe soluction towards getting around this thing. He tried listening to its blood beat and found out that it indeed was in a heavy sleep. Then he noticed the taile of this beast. closely looking like discord but yet more dragon....dragon.....cresent blinked twice

no discord wouldn't have a pet dragon lying around as chaotic and as they scared the furr of the batpony he keept telling himself to breath slowly and the dr-no the beast, yes he thought

'its a beast not a dragon, a beast not a dragon'

 

Once he felt calmer he gave a look around the chamber to see what looked like an, clock?

he kept his voice low trying not to wake the beast "ether that's an alarm clock, or we possibly have found something discord wants to hide" he said to the mare behind him. They had to find out what type of clock this was, without waking the beast....but how cresent was running out of ideas.

They could turn back, but something told him that would set something off like walking into an different room in which they started out as to find another trap...no

he turned around towards  Hydragon

whispering "if you had a pet beast like that what would you need it to guard?" he asked

Only one of the deck of cards worked. If they pulled the joker, it would give them a clue as to which card it would be. The two could shuffle the deck, which gives them more chances that the joker would be at the top half of the deck. Little did they know that they had a number of draws before something else happened...

"You might be on to something," Said Dapper to Refund. He stood and thought for a while. It had been ages since he had played hearts. All he really remembered was that getting heart cards were bad. In fact the only thing worse was getting... It suddenly hit him. "What about the Queen of Spades. In hearts the Queen of Spades is probably the most important card, albeit for the wrong reasons. Maybe, and this is a long shot, that's the card that opens the door."

The two kept walking throw this and that way getting more, less and slightly changed rooms but when they thought they were close it never was "I'm sick of this crap, do you have any idea? or do we just have to keep walking until we get to another color/pattern change to ask you again" she said rudely looking at the eight ways that surrounded them "this is getting to me big time"

It all came back to Refund as Dapper mentioned the Queen of Spades' importance in the game of Hearts. He shuffled through the deck and pulled that card out, passing the Joker. "Good thinking," he told Dapper as he put the deck back down. "It's only one card for now and I don't think we have much to lose. If our reasoning is sound, why don't we try to unlock the door with the Queen of Spades first?"

He then saw the amount of gold the beast was laying on. specificly one pice of gold did stick out, he was debating if it was his mind playing ticks or there was in fact a key with an crest of some sort on it.

He felt the beasts massive blood beat drumming like an volcano inches behind him. he shoved the key into the door as fast as he could. The key fit perfectly now it was time to-

He herd something crack he followed his instinct and bit down hard on the giant hand tasting the monsters blood flood the bat ponys mouth. There was another Roar as the best let go he fell hard on his side as the beast retreated for a moment

She had noticed what had happened and saw that cresent got hurt pretty bad, the door was unlocked and the monster is distracted, so she ran as fast as she could to cresent picked him up and ran to the door hoping that the monster doesn't fallow them, but unfortunately it did, so she was trying to open and close the door as fast as possible then started running down the hall, hoping that the door would distract the monster long enough for them to escape.
