Pony Merch Seems To Be Disappering From Hot Topic Stores

I don't really bother with Hot Topic for anything MLP related to be honest. That being said, when I do happen in to them from time to time I don't honestly see much product on the shelves outside of the occasional shirt or something. However, a local comic/hobby shop sells the product pretty well and has a decent influx of new stuff coming in regularly, if not in small quantities depending on the items in question, as well as offering store searches and pre-ordering on many of the items. The only real issue is they tent to be way overpriced.

 

Also I have seen quite a few interesting items at a local half price book store as well.

I haven't been to Hot Topic in a while as it's quite the drive from where I live, but when I did go, it looked like there wasn't much MLP stuff. There sure was a lot of Steven Universe, Pokemon, Stitch, FNAF, and many other fandoms I recognize.

I don't go to the Hot Topic near me because I never have a reason to go to the mall. But, yeah, sad it's disappearing.

 

Though my Hot Topic would probably do it due to space problems - the one near me is VERY small and the merch shelves makes it hard to get around.

As the CEO of Hot Topic, i must report that we only sell to the hype; not to appease fans of that artwork.

 

Jk jk although I'd imagine the CEO saying something like this. It seems Hot Topic is like Marvel Movies: they keep rebooting their image for money. My Hot Topic has gone from Hard Rock, Punk, Goth, Gangster, Pop, Anime/pop culture, and now it's going back to Punk. I asked the Store Manager what the deal was but she said it's the stores supplier that chooses what they sell there.

It makes sense as Hot Topic really only stocks things that are the current trend. Not to say MLP isn't still a trend but it has clearly lost some luster from a financial viability standpoint in terms of more niche merch.

Hot Topic is a store that sells based on what's the latest craze among teens and young adults, hence "Hot Topic". In the early 2010's, that was ponies, but now that Star Wars has moved into the public eye in a way it hasn't been since the early to mid 2000s that's what Hot Topic will be focusing on more.

Spencer's is a better store anyways. I have met nothing but rude customers and employees at my hot topics. I was there two days ago and the pony merch was gone... Even the comics were gone.
