Luna immediately flipped into a series of parries as the attack continued, alternating between blocks, and just flat out dodging the strikes. The pressure was beginning to wear on her though, as she noted that he seemed to have the higher raw speed, though for now, she at least had the reflexes to keep up. Keeping such thoughts in mind, she stepped into the dancing blade yet again. She blinked away from the sword strikes, this time advancing down from his back horizontally, to aim a strike there.

Copper brought his sword to parry the blow, but he also kept it there for three attacks: A spinning roundhouse kick, an uppercut, and a punch, all powerful and aimed at the face, and the rib in case of the roundhouse. He then took his sword to his side and retreated back, looking at Luna calmly.

Terra took a small breath, before dipping down into the portal.

When she re-emerged, the first thing that tipped at the edges of her realization was how cold it was. It seemed to be in the dead of winter, from what she could tell, as there was already snow littering the ground, at least a half inch deep. With even more, gently falling down from the sky. An almost endless expanse of white, covering the area from the flat field they had emerged in to the horizon, near as far as she could see.

The sole exception seemed to be the splash of brown, off in the distance. A large series of crudely built houses seemed to litter the background, forming what appeared to be a small town. And it was, as she could remember this all. Home. She stared distantly, as she waited for the others to arrive.

*************

When Trixie emerged, the first thing she realized was how blasted cold it was. And that somehow, she had managed to land herself in one of the few snowdrifts in this entire flat, barren area. She sighed, pulling herself out with some difficulty, before conjuring a scarf, to at least bite back some of the cold, though it did little, all things considered. She caught onto the small town a little after Terra did, and stared at it. How far back had they gone, again?

With a thud on the ground, Rhetoric dazedly picked himself up off the ground. His landing hadn't been so soft and it took him a moment to remember what exactly they were doing here again, or where exactly they were. Standing up, holding his head with his front hoof he too saw the small hamlet off in the horizon. The site of which recalled their purpose for time travel

"Is that the place?... Where it happened I mean, kinda cold...." he couldn't help but adding as the snow and the wind settled into his senses.

Starlight lowered onto the surface, the snow crunching beneath her hooves, and the portal quickly closed into nothingness once the whole group was out. A shiver shot through her body at the cold, and she went cross-eyed as a snowflake landed right on her snout.

"This must be the Era of the Founders," She deduced, and grunted as a dull pain suddenly made itself known in her head. Using two powerful spells at once had taken a toll on her. She raised a hoof to her forehead and rubbed it in an attempt to soothe the ache.

Trixie noticed Starlight, and walked over to her. Her horn sparked with a light blue magic. "Here. I wasn't the best at healing magic when I was at Celestia's school, but I do know enough to get by." She pressed her horn to a spot just under Starlight's brow, releasing the magic that would temporarily dull the pain of the targeted area.

"This is a little before the founders, actually." Terra looked Starlight over, confident that Trixie was taken care of her, and looked back, towards the town. "During this time, all of the tribes were completely separate, and interacted rarely, if ever. For some, the other races are either extremely rare, or a myth. This particular town holds to the former."

@DwhitetheGamer

Luna dodged the first two strikes as she weaved in between them, but the third slipped her guard, connecting with a crack. Finding herself being forced downwards towards the ground, she flipped out her wings, cutting most of the speed. The impact was transitioned into a short backwards skid, before she came to a stop, a few feet away from where she had started. She looked up coolly, towards Copper Strikes.

Quite the interesting expression. She drew her blade into the by now familiar stance yet again. I wonder if he realizes... With a single underhand flick, she launched her blade, sending its point directly at him as she charged right behind it. Moments before impact, she teleported it behind him to come strafing down his side, while at the same time, she launched a kick towards his front, with enough strength to level a small building. Maybe two.

As soon as Luna launched the sword, Copper recognized the trick that she was doing.  Without hesitation, he flew upwards, taking his sword with him, both attacks just scraping him in the process.

He landed a few feet from Luna, and grinned, copying her stance.  "Let's see if I got this down right."  He had already set the teleporting coordinates, and started the same type of movement as Luna did the last two times, as he went for a strike.

Luna had already teleported downward to catch her sword, when she caught sight of the familiar stance up above her. A technique that had taken her a year, adopted in minutes by this pony. Interesting. Still falling, she teleported herself to the floor, dodging the incoming strike. Immediately afterwards, she formed a barrier spell around herself, the solid black shield at the least preventing the ensuing teleportations in. It also concealed her from further sight, for the moment.

Copper saw Luna teleport, and saw the shield being brought up.  Thankfully he still had the ability to see with his body, so he looked straight at Luna, waiting for her to strike...

...

...If only the super form lasted longer, that is.  The aura completely faded from view, Copper returned to a normal Earth Pony, and the result is his sword dropped to the floor.  Even worse, he groaned in pain, sitting his flank down, with veins threatening to come out of his body.  His whole body was like this now.

He strained, saying to Luna weakly, "My body can't handle being an alicorn.  This is why I said I was in big trouble if my form ran out."

With a simple thought, Luna dispelled the barrier, watching it crumble into flecks of darkness around her. She dispersed her sword in a similar matter, passing it behind her back to watch it disappear with a flash, before she made her way over to Copper Strikes.

"A very interesting battle, indeed." Her horn began to glow again, as she cast a simple medical spell over Copper Strikes, designed to target most minor medical anomalies, and fix them. "Certainly the most unique I have seen, in quite some time."

Copper closed his eyes as the healing spell washed over him, healing the pain going through his body.  He sighed, looked up at Luna and said, "Thank you, Princess Luna.  And yeah, I guess I'll have to give up this battle, because it'll take a half hour before I can turn super again."  He got up and bowed to her.  "It was an honor to fight you, your highness."

Wilhelm raised an eyebrow. "And here I was thinking it was the other way around." His eyes traveled upwards, to where Heartthrob still perched in his mane. "Why, Heartthrob thinks I'm a chair!" He adopted a playful tone. "Or maybe she thinks she's a hat. Well, I'll tell her right now, she's certainly a pony..."

With the edge of one of his wings' primary feathers, Wilhelm ruffled Heartthrob's mane. "And nearly as beautiful as you, Anette." He smiled. "So... what kind of fun do you have planned?" Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the waiter coming towards their table, bearing menus. "Or we could order first. Your choice."

(YO-KAY, I AM FINALLY BACK AT MY HOUSE, I WILL BE POSTING REGULARLY, SORRY FOR THE DELAYS. XD)

Diamond Rustscythe stood up and slowly walked to Zenru with a scouting expression on his face. He looked over the pony and was surprised to say the least that the bell was not for use. "Well, that's a small mistake. l am Diamond Rustscythe, high captain of the royal guard and honorary advisor of the princesses and l came here to get intel on what happens around here. Reports have shown that ponies were being seriously injured and, in name of the royal princess, l am here to find answer to said reports". Rustscythe made a point to remain calm in his voice, but he did sound his authority, as befitting his rank and station.

"Ah, of course. Well, it's nice to see another captain. I am Zenru Swiftwing, the high captain of the guard, here in Bangcolt. Well...To be fair, I'm the only guard here. Besides the two at the gates. But I manage to keep crime to a minimum."

His attention seemed to drift for a moment, muttering something along the lines of '...I wonder if Jake is doing okay...', before redirecting his focus back on Diamond.

"As for the ponies being injured--we have some of the highest-quality, healing-magic specialists here in Bangcolt, to heal the damaged once their fights are over. As long as the combatants inside the Arena don't go overboard, and continue fighting once a winner has been declared, then odds of a casualty are astronomical. The ponies going into the Arena, are fully aware of the consequences, of combat, so they each sign a waver. No permanete injuries have been documented, since near the time when the city was first founded. Even the Princesses themselves have approved the efficiency of the hospitable, here. I do appreciate your concern, but unless the pony in question is torn beyond recognition, then odds are he or she wont die."

He offered a smile, "do you have other business, here?"

(this is going off the headcanon that each town has it's own system of guards, and ranks. Canterlot being the most famous, but every town thats under the protection of the princesses, likely has their own set of guards, to go with a Captain, to look over it. Assuming the town is big enough, then sections of the town will have their own individual Captain, who in turn report to a 'High Captain'. who in turn report to the princesses, every half-year or so. Zenru is the high-captain/captain, for Bangcolt--is this acceptable?)

Noticing that Yrel was talking about the sword, Raze brought it out again.

"Looks like you know a bit about swords," he said. "It's neither, actually. It's made out of a steel they only produce there, known as Tamahagane steel. And yes, they did fold it, for metal purification purposes."

She studied it for a long moment, before looking at him with an extremely intrigued expression. Upon hearing the material, it seemed to confirm something...

"...Can I take the hilt off, Mr.?" She asked, already absentmindedly taking apart the handle of the blade. "I'm curious, about something..."

"Uhh..." Raze put a hoof to the handle of the blade to stop her from unsheathing it all the way.

She's way too invested into this... he thought. Should I let her? She seems to know a few things about blades, but what if she hurts herself...?

After thinking it over, he sighed, then let go of the handle. "Sure. Knock yourself out, kid."

She beamed, before taking the cap off the bottom, and unscrewing the nut holding the hilt there. She worked fast, with experience most fillies didn't have...Before the rest of the blade was revealed.

The sword ran from the blade itself, all the way into the hilt, where it thickened for balance. Yrel was examining this piece of the alloy, before her wings flexed.

"...This is Farrier's work, isn't it...?" She muttered, more so to herself, then to Raze.

Raze looked at her in confusion. "Eh?" he said. "I never met the one who made the blade, they just gave it to me..." He looked at Yrel with narrow eyes, the precision and speed she used to take apart the blade was reminiscent to that of a skilled craftsman. How could a filly know how to do such a thing?

"You know a lot about this stuff, don't you?" he asked. "Is this what your uncle taught you, or is this something more...?"

"...Oh, um...Zenny taught me a lot about Farrier..." She explained, pointing at a small symbol inscribed in the thicker part of the metal. It looked like an F, that had a circle around it.

"He told me lots of stories, about what Farrier's made...I thought this sword might've been one of the three, but...Guess not." She smiled at him, "but it's still amazing to see one of his blades, present-day."

"Huh..." Raze looked at Yrel interestingly, then took the blade and handle and put it back together. "So this... Farrier, person... made my katana, is that right...?" he asked. "I've never really heard of a blacksmith like that living in the Far East, and his name doesn't sound like he's from there either... and what do you mean by 'one of the three'"?

She broke off, at that last bit.

"...You don't know about Eos, Selene, and Helios?" She asked, looking actually surprised. "The three swords Farrier considered his masterpieces?"

She frowned. "Um...My memory is getting fuzzy, but...Oh, wait! Zenny gave me a book, on it, to read!"

She beamed at him, as if the fact that she had brought along that book was pure, unbridled genius. Pulling her backpack out, in front (which happened to be teddybear shaped) of her, she rustled through it, before pulling out what looked like an ancient book.

She handed it to him, to read the chapter on the blades.

Inside the book, the following text would be seen:

"Farrier, the blacksmith of ages, created many blades during his lifetime. Along with various renowned equipment. Aegis, and Anaklusmos, being a few to name. But his prized creations, were three blades of legend. Helios, the blade of the day, Eos, the blade of the twilight, and Selene, the blade of the night..."

"Farrier was quoted, to creating these blades, out of fear that the ponies would not be able to protect themselves from threats, without it. He entrusted one blade each, to the Tribes. The Pegasi obtained Helios. The Earth Ponies obtained Eos. And...The Unicorns, obtained Selene. The Tribes, in turn, each produced a hero, to weild the swords. A pegasus named Apollo, used Helios. An earth pony named Abel, used Eos. A unicorn named Hiero, used Selene."

"For a long while, the ponies lived in safety, for the three hero's were called to deal with any major threats. With the power that Farrier had given them, they remained so strong, that some began to suspect that they were demigods..."

"...Until one day, Apollo disappeared, leaving behind his blade. This in turn, brought disharmony amongst the pegasi, who began to quarrel over who should get to inherit Helios. All year long, the scuffling began to grow into fighting. And in turn, bloodshed. Hiero, acting with Farrier, stole the blade from the pegasi, as to prevent further fighting over the sword."

"Hiero claimed that either a new pegasus must inherit the blade, or the blade itself must become mundane, to stop quarrels over it. Farrier agreed, and decided to seal the power Helios held, inside itself. The blade Helios, was the first to fall from grace...To ensure that no-one would find a way to unlock it's power, Farrier encased the sword in stone, to hide from the pegasi..."

"Hiero disagreed with Farrier's wisdom, claiming that one must inherit the blade, to keep protecting ponykind. But Farrier had foreseen saviors, coming to unite the ponies, to lead them into a new age of prosperity. And as a result, refused...And then asked Hiero, for his blade."

"Abel had trusted Farrier enough, to forfeit his blade, to be rendered mundane, alongside Helios. Eos joined it's sibling, in stone. Hiero, outraged, turned his back on those he had called his friends. Too concerned with the protection of ponykind, he refused to give his blade, claiming to continue his duties to the world. Farrier, although greatly saddened, chose to let him go. He had faith, that Hiero would use the blade for good. And when the time came, to pass the blade along, Hiero would make the right choice."

"After that, the blades faded from legend, as the Alicorn Princesses came to be. Farrier passed on, along with Abel, both of which who were also nearly forgotten. No-one knows of what became of Hiero, however. Some claim he died, and Selene was buried with him. Some claim he returned to Farrier, and returned the blade. While a few...Think that he is still traveling the world, looking for the one to inherit his blade."

"While Helios, and Eos, remain hidden in stone, somewhere in the world..."

Yrel smiled. "I was just...Excited, to see if you had...Well...One of the swords." She said, with a faint air of disappointment. "But it's still amazing to see that Farrier was real, he actually made your sword!"

Luna simply gave a small smile. "You may stand, Copper Strikes."

"Attention, ponies! The winner of the match between Princess Luna and Copper Strikes is..."

"Regality is a long lost art. Some of us appreciate it that way. Besides..."

"PRINCESS LUNAAAAAAAA!!!!!"

Luna ignored the sounds of ecstatic cheering outside, too focused to pay real attention. "I believe both of us have learned quite a bit from this match. Correct?"

@Orion Caelum

Heartthrob flushed, graduating into a slow blush, as her mane was ruffled.

Anette nearly mimicked her, though it was a much lighter shade of red staining her cheeks. "Well... it is hard to have fun on an empty stomach..." She smiled at the waiter as he came, and took the menus, magically floating one over to Wilhelm, and keeping the other for herself. She peered at it intently. "The king's salad..." A very large, slightly expensive, three tiered salad, mysteriously combined with both fruits and vegetables, while somehow still looking appetizing. Even more so; it looked exquisite enough to practically jump off the page at her.

"This looks incredible." She put the menu down, and grinned up at Wilhelm. "Looks like I know what I want."

Copper stood up from his bowed stance and smiled at Luna.  He then put his hoof to his chin and pondered a bit about what he learned from the battle.  He said, "Yeah.  I think what I learned is that I need to control my power more, and that aggression is not a good strategy against experienced ponies like you."

He smiled again.  "So what did you learn, your highness?"

Raze nodded after reading what Yrel gave him.

"Interesting..." he said, handing her back the book. "So he was a legendary blacksmith of some sort... who created three legendary blades; two of which are buried somewhere, and one that's still probably out there." He looked at his katana. "You probably thought this was Selene or something, huh...?" He smiled at her, then looked at the TV screens. He saw that Copper had just lost to Princess Luna in a fight...

Wait. he thought. Luna... His smile quickly turned into a stone cold expression. He stood up.

"Well... as much as I enjoy chatting about this, I'm afraid I've gotta go," he said to Yrel. "Don't worry though. If I see you again, we'll definitely continue this conversation. It's got my interest piqued!" He waved good-bye to Yrel, then turned to exit the lobby, making his way outside.

So the princesses are here... one of them, at least... he thought. Looks like my plans have changed a bit... He looked up. Time to regain the honor I've lost...

Diamond Rustscythe listened as Zenru told him about what happened in Bangcolt and was especially glad to hear he was dealing with another captain. What also made him happy was that the princess had already evaluated everything about this competition herself, so that wouldn't be necessary for him anymore. everything seemed in order, but there were a few things he wanted to ask in addition to this.
