Spikey-Wikey 378 October 10, 2015 Share October 10, 2015 (edited) Oh god, no!!!! Regular Spike episodes are bad enough, don't ruin an important episode with him! That seems like a little bit of an overreaction. Are you saying that the episode would be bad simply because it would focus on him? They usually are bad all right, but they don't have to be. They just never write him well in spotlights, but he has potential. I for one wouldn't be opposed to a Spike-central two-parter, but it would have to be done reeeeaaally well done. (And I kinda don't see it happening, unfortunately.) I think they should do a movie where he finds his parents. So many amazing story opportunities there.

No, but I don't trust the writers to be able to do it right 1 Check out my channel for awesome video reviews and analysis! https://www.youtube.com/c/LZRDWZRD
Unlikeable Pony 2,698 October 10, 2015 Share October 10, 2015 Look, the other 5 besides twilight are lucky if they even get to feature heavily in the episode instead of being booted to the background for finales and premiers, and you want to give Spike an episode focused solely on him?I'd like one of the other mane six to get a turn first before spike :/ (And we only have 2 two parters left for the show anyways in S6, with it being highly plausible that'll be the end)
Rocky 68 October 10, 2015 Share October 10, 2015 (edited) I've been on record saying that maybe they should write Spike out all of Season 6 and bring him back in the end a different character that's easier to write. One who's wiser, not as much as the comic relief, and one who knows a lot about two worlds: The pony world and the dragon world. Then you can spend the season after that in his episode of him using what he's learned offscreen to help the mane six with their problems. It's a little weak to have his development off screen but I feel it's the only way. Though if you're going to do that, give him a legit reason for going out on his own again. Have him feel he has to give going out to find out who he is another shot. The other manes offer to help him but he ends up sneaking out to protect them from harm. Saying in a note that Equestria needs them. Throughout Season 6, you could show how much Spike being gone is affecting their lives, especially Twilight since he's always been by her side every step of the way. Want to do some episodes of him on his journey, well have the setting also help with world building and have Spike write letters to Twilight asking for friendship advice if he ever comes across a friendship issue. Basically what I'm trying to say is that Spike can be developed. He just may need to be surrounded by new characters and a different setting for that to happen. Lessons ponies learn may not matter for dragons in the long run. Edited October 10, 2015 by Rocky
Unlikeable Pony 2,698 October 10, 2015 Share October 10, 2015 I would like to point out, to all the people saying spike episodes are terrible, that Power ponies was a great episode AND focused on spike as the central character who learned a lesson.

Lessons ponies learn may not matter for dragons in the long run. Honestly I think this could be one of the better ideas when it comes to Spike getting a open two parter and an ending two patter. Adding with the girls going around Equestria because of map, we could check in once and a while with his own journey overlapping with the girl. It would allow his arc and all of the girls arcs to flow seamlessly without clunky letters. The arc could conclude with everyone coming back and as you said, with Spike as a changed character and one that has grown so the writers no longer have to deal with the issue of balancing out him as side kick child and he can be written more as a proper teen adviser to Twilight and co. Wind Chaser 4,768 October 11, 2015 Share October 11, 2015 We need a good Spike episode period, and it would be highly preferable that it be a regular episode and not a two-parter. "The Crystal Empire", to add to that contrived episode's list of plot problems, ironically gave Spike too much credit at the expense of Twilight, Shining Armor, and Cadance. I highly doubt Spike has exactly what it takes to carry a two-parter, even if he was a better-written character.
