It was a peaceful day in the Everfree Forest, the bunnies playing with the squirrels and the birds singing. Timberwolves and more strange creatures where abound in the dark wood, running and hunting as ey normally would. But something was coming, something terrible, that would annihilate all of the forced peace, and so the Everfree held its breath. Death was to come.

Blue unicorn was in his home in Everfree. Organizing potions.

''Finally I got that healing potion recipe right, it took forever.''

He started looking his potion storage.

''There is bottled spells, poisons, acids, not lethal fight potions and some medical potions, everything where they belongs''

''Oh, It seems that I need to get some more ingredients for potions from forest and buy some apples from ponyville.'' 

He walked out and started walk towards Ponyville.

''It's beautiful day''

Holy Light, great paladin of the royal guard, levitated a mostly unfinished map of the Everfree Forest in front of her. Behind her were two guards accompanying her for protection. She had FINALLY gotten a permit from her superiors to lead a raid of the Everfree in a few hours. The votes had (mostly) been cast, well, inside the castle, and it was almost unanimously agreed that the Everfree should be deforested to make better use of the resources. There was the issue of the people living in there, and the non hostile monsters (as few as there were), but she was sure her superiors would give them proper housing and education. Oddly enough, only Celestia and Luna were somewhat against the destruction of the forest; but the checks and balances system was able to turn the government into their favor. And the public liked the idea well enough.

 

She walked out of Ponyville barracks and started to do a survey of Ponyville, perhaps asking a few native Ponyvillians about the forest itself and the beings that dwelled within; she needed to be prepared to smite any and all dastardly beings that got in her way of a perfect world. She already gathered some information from that jittery yellow pegasus near the Everfree (she neglected to tell her about the forest actually being deforested, I mean, what if she reacted wrong), but some more information couldn't hurt. She headed into the marketplace, and began to scan the townspeople for any that seemed somewhat knowledgeable about the forest.

"I feel the heart of the forest, it's rhythm beating along to the song of nature"

 

"What does it sound like?"

 

"A colourful melody, carefree and wild, spiraling through the trees and each and every burrow."

 

"The everfree is singing"

 

"It continues to sing, yet, it's voice falters. It's gentle tones falter and ebb. It sees a force, one that opposes it"

 

"What does it feel? Is it scared? Does it hunger?"

 

Runes started glowing in the darkness, revealing them to be etched on the stag's horns, casting an eerie glow amidst the darkness of the grove. It was enough to reveal the horn' owner: A silver stag with a sword, the sword's tassel wrapped around his neck like a scarf.The stag, Enzo, turned to his sword.

 

"Dear Khris, the forest is never scared, nor does it ever hunger."

 

His sword replied.

 

"But it is prepared to fight."

 

"We are prepared to fight"

''Come on Demosthenes think, is there something else that I need from here or can I go back home'' Demosthenes was thinking after he has bought some apples and glass bottles from Ponyville's marketplace.

''I look through this marketplace once more and if I don't remember I just go back home and collect some ingredients for potions.''

He pulled his cape's hood over his head and started walk around in marketplace area.

The Guardian watched as the potions pony went into town. It smiled as it saw several Timberwolves hunting, and the Guardian joined in on their hunt. It's paws flew over the soft ground and then the Guardian jumped into the trees. It trailed the massive Timberwolves and slinked it's way around where the Timberwolves had caught some sort of other tree animal. The Guardian smiled, glad the Timberwolves had a successful hunt, but saddened at the death of the prey. But that was life. The Guardian jumped into another tree before coming down to the ground. And the Guardian strolled back to its hole. And he walked, the Guardian ran a paw through his ragged mane.

Holy started to scan the marketplace, and her eyes fell on a hooded pony that was carrying potion supplies. SUSPICIOUS, yes? She decided to interrogate- um, politely talk with him or her and see if she can weasel any Everfree information out of him. She gestured to her guards to not follow her, but stay in the general area and keep an eye out for any danger, and strutted towards the hooded pony.

 

"You there!" She said to gain his attention in a dignified voice. "I'm a royal guard, Holy Light, and I've been sent her to survey Ponyville and the neighboring areas for a bit. That forest over there seems rather... unwelcoming, I was wondering if you could tell me anything about it? I've only heard rumors. I need to survey that area too, and so I don't accidentally get killed, any piece of information would help." Holy attempted to look regal, commanding, but overall welcoming (...the welcoming part needed work, she needed to get better socially).

Demosthenes started head home when he saw white unicorn in armor who was taking to him.

"You there!" ''What in hay'' "I'm a royal guard, Holy Light, and I've been sent her to survey Ponyville and the neighboring areas for a bit. That forest over there seems rather... unwelcoming, I was wondering if you could tell me anything about it? I've only heard rumors. I need to survey that area too, and so I don't accidentally get killed, any piece of information would help."

''Oh, royal guard you say. Well only way to be sure not to die is stay out from forest, but if you really have to go there stay on road, there is lot of thing who don't like visitors. Can I ask why you want survey the forest?''

The Guardian was observing a conversation between the potion pony and some other pony and glowed with malice. The Guardian smiled and scratched behind his left ear. And then licked his paw. The Guardian then shook out his mane and flexed his tail. The Guardian didn't quite understand what was going on, but the white unicorn was annoyed by the potion pony. He decided he would visit the Potion pony's home tonight. He knew it wasn't wise, but the Guardian decided it would be for the best.

Holy seemed to be somewhat satisfied with that information, but still looked unimpressed. At the inquiry on why she was asking this information, Holy started to go off on a long, monotonous, lecture. "Oh, Princess Celestia's orders, actually. We're just making sure there's no threats in there that could harm fellow Equestrian citizens. We also are planning on making a few safety procedures to prevent any injuries. My superiors have a few... other ideas, and I'm supposed to get orders on how to proceed later today, but it could swerve either way depending on if I decide the forest is too dangerous. I'm fairly certain I can handle my own - I'm a light magic talent - but as I said, any information could be useful."

Holy then swerved around after her lecture, swearing she could hear a noise. She looked around, but couldn't hear anything. She decided it was just the paranoia, but looked more jumpy than before.

Demosthenes felt unpleasant. ''I have bad feeling about this'' he though.

''Well, Holy or whatever your name was, there isn't really anything else to say. I can only suggest that you don't go there.''

''And if you don't mind I'm little busy''

He took potion from his saddlepack and dropped it to the ground.

Potion made huge black smoke cloud that hid him and he ran back to the forest.

''I have really bad feeling about this, that pony is hiding something, I just know it.''

Sappy lappy flew around the everfree, His dragon wings carrying him through the sky with ease. He was holding his top hat in place with one claw, while ripping through vines with the other. He found out that his beloved home was getting destroyed, so he of course rushed to assistance. The big question was: how? He didn't know where the other members of the everfree where, and he hasn't seen any bad pony yet. Sappy landed "forbandet skov (Cursed forest)" Muttered Sappy in griffish (Danish)

The Guardian heard the dragon and turned to see the dragon land in the forest. The Guardian ran to where he saw the dragon had landed. He crept up on the dragon, who was muttering in some sort of speak. The Guardian decided to take a closer look. He jumped up into a tree and maneuvered his way into a position where he could see the dragon. He smiled. It was just Sappy, he was a nicer dragon, still a dragon, but nicer. The Guardian knew Sappy sometimes talked to other animals in the forest. He revealed himself, and cocked his head to the side to see the dragon's reaction.

Sappy looked down at the pony/Cat hybrid before him. He lowered his head "Why hello there little fella, are you sapient?" Asked Sappy with a smile crossing his features. "Do you know what's going on? Or where everyone else is? Because i heard that this forest is in danger" Said Sappy, dusting off his tuxedo

Demosthenes was running towards his home but stopped when he saw something.

''Dragon, in Everfree, How I have been missing that''

He went closer and hid in bush.

Then he saw other creature.

''What in hay is that''

He took book from his saddlepack and tried to find creature from there.

''nothing, what are you?''

The Dragon was speaking to him, and he didn't really understand what he was saying, but he sensed that the dragon was concerned. The Guardian looked about and then took some energy from a large oak and then made a little blue fireball. Then he ate it. And coughed. He tried out his voice and tried a few words. He then looked at the dragon and asked a simple question with some words he knew "You Okay?" The Guardian managed. He was too focused on speaking to notice the potion pony in the brush nearby.

Sappy was a bit confused when the hybrid ate a fireball, but it made it speak! "You okay?" Asked the hybrid. Sappy nodded "Yes, i'm quite alright, i'm how ever curious as to what is going on. I was in the griffon kingdom drinking tea with the griffon king, and then i get a message saying that the everfree is in danger" Explained Sappy. He noticed a silhouette in the bush, but passed it off as a wild animal

Demosthenes came out from the bush but didn't go too close.

''Hey dragon, did you just spoke? and did you just say something about forest being in danger''

''And you pony cat thing, do you speak?''

He took of his hood off and went closer to dragon and the guardian.

He saw the pony exiting the bush, and flared his nostrils aggressively "Yes, i did speak. You might know me as the guardian of culture, but who are YOU?! The everfree isn't a place for your kind" Said Sappy. "As for the forest, i don't know what's going on" Said Sappy.  This behavior was unusual for him, but this pony could be the reason as to why there was a problem

Demosthenes backed up a little.

''Well hello, you can call me as Demosthenes and I have been living here a long time, nice to meet you.''

''It's interesting that we have never seen before.''

''And you're right about that forest isn't place for most ponies but I'm not like most ponies ''

''That bad feeling of yours, I talked with some royal guard today and she was really interested how not to die in forest, I have bad feeling that they are planning something bad''

He heard Timberwolf behind him.

''Don't worry, I won't get hurt'' and looked at dragon.

Timberwolf backed up.

The Guardian raised his hackles at the surprise guest. He then quickly calmed down. "It not potion pony, it some else." He managed. The Guardian looked at the creatures before him and took off into the brush "Follow!" He part growled, part spoke. He took off towards the potions pony's house. He then would slip away back to his cave, and then hunt with some Timberwolves.

"It's actually not a surprise that we have't seen each other. I rarely visit the everfree because i am the guardian of culture. Which basically means that i collect culture from all around the world." Explained Sappy, realizing that this pony wasn't a thread. He adjusted his top hat "I'm curious as to why you are living in the everfree there are so many better options then this" Said Sappy

Demosthenes looked at dragon.

''I see''

''And why I live in Everfree, well It's simple, here is lot of ingredients for potions and here I can do my things without any disturbance.''

''But it seems that pony cat thing wants us to follow''

Demosthenes started following.

''Wait...why are we going towards my home?''

Holy Light watched the pony smoke bomb her, causing multiple ponies around her to cough and gag as well. She noticed some of the smoke got onto her, and began to seethe. She managed to wipe off the smoke from her armor, and was able to somewhat regain her compusure. She looked towards the Everfree. 

 

"Guards. Get the troops. We'll raid now instead of tonight. I believe I have all of the information necessary. I'll go on ahead. We would want to get this over with as soon as possible." She looked towards the citizens. "PONYVILLIANS! IF YOU WISH TO PARTAKE IN THE DESTRUCTION OF THE FIENDFUL EVERFREE, FOLLOW ME, AT YOUR PRINCESSES ORDERS!" Many of the ponies seemed to take her words to heed, but there were a few on the edge. Ignoring them, Holy began to gallop towards the Everfree, as Ponyville began to prepare for the raid.

 

Holy was now in the Everfree, lighting up the place with her horn. A section of the Everfree was filled with light, about a few yards around Holy due to it being her special talent. Unfortunately, this served as a beacon for many of those who would want to be alerted to her presence.

Demosthenes stopped.

''Wait, I think we have some kind of problem''

''I have bad feeling about that light over there'' ''Light, in Everfree''

He started to run.

''I have to get equipped, Really Fast''

He rushed through his door.

''This, this, that, also those...I need Everything''
