ManaMinori 4,146 October 20, 2015 Share October 20, 2015 Over the years, many have expressed a desire to see Scoots fly. I, personally, haven't been one of them. The moral that Applejack recently had to learn in the Manehattan episode was to stop focusing on all that she can't do, and work at what she can, even if in the end, what comes out of her hard work is a smaller scale reward. I think that that's also something the brony community should try to remember, when is comes to Scootaloo and her ability, or lack thereof, to fly. I would like it if Scootaloo remembers RD's pep talk, in Flight to the Finish, and if another pep talk, about how RD's idols weren't all that she had envisioned them to be, onceshe met them. I'd like if RD showed Scoots that she doesn't have to be able to fly, like she can, to be able to soar. Maybe encourage Scoots to enter a "PegaX games" prefecture competition, and try to get to nationals doing stuff on her scooter, like a little Tony Hawk, and help her train for it. That could be a thing. I mean, we've seen her jump ramps and stuff, on a small scale, when she rides through Ponyville. Never really had a full episode showcasing her scooter abilities, and using them to her advantage, instead of her focus on flying. 3 Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
Raven Rawne 1,381 October 20, 2015 Share October 20, 2015 I thoroughtly agree with Your point, although with a little twist, and Ill explain it later. For starters, I think she doesn't have enough magic in her to fly (pegasus flight is a magical ability, since their wings are waay to little to work the regular way). Fortunately, it seems that scootering requires less "juice". Technical stuff aside, I think Scoots is an important character whe way she is, because of her struggle with flight. For her, being unable to fly is a big deal, because flight is a core pegasus ability, and thus a flightless pegasus is no pegasus at all. She's the ambassador of all of us who have to became lawyers, because they come from the lawyer family. People who have to join the military and have a distinguished service record because their military family ancestry dates back to War of Independence. She's there to remind us about all those individuals who feel they have to follow the way of their fathers, and the resulting tragedy when they just can't. Being unable to be who you're supposed to be is a great pain, and it takes even greater courage and resolve to tell yourself, and the world, that you are the one to decide who you'll become, even if it breaks a 200 year family tradition and all your family may very well think you're a failure for the rest of their days. That's why Scoot's continued attempts at learning to fly are so significant, and I would throw all my money at Hasbro if they made a good episode about her deciding that being unable to claim your "birthright" doesn't equal being a lazy failure. That it's OK to buck the tradition if it's effectively killing you. 3 Science wil reveal the Truth. Eventually...
Vulcan 3,255 October 20, 2015 Share October 20, 2015 I've also never wanted scootaloo to fly, I've always seen her as a speedster on land , maybe even upgrading to a motocycle/skateboard-like device when she gets older XD but sadly that doesn't seem to be the case, Since a Cutie mark foreshadows one's destinies, Hasbro seems to hint at her future flight abilities with a cutie mark that contains not only wings but a lighting symbol similar to that of rainbow dash. I can't wait to see how this pans out in future episodes, maybe Dashie teaching scoots to master flight or Scoots realizing her abilities in wing-enhanced land transports. it would be great either way.

And she hasn't flown, yet, so the symbol can't mean that she's good at flying fast. J. Brony 313 October 20, 2015 Share October 20, 2015 (edited) I feel that Scootaloo is perfect just the way that she is. It isn't necessary that she learn to fly. In fact, being unable to fly makes her unique. Scoots is at her best when she's on her scooter in my humble opinion. That pretty much defines her character for me. I mean, her name is SCOOTaloo right? As far as her new cutie mark is concerned, perhaps she still needs to realize the significance of it. Here's how I think it should go down; 1) Scootaloo gets depressed over her inability to fly. 2) Rainbow Dash gives her a pep-talk, basically repeating what I just posted above. And 3) Scootaloo realizes her special talent is riding the scooter. Anypony can ride a scooter but not like Scootaloo. Her tiny wings don't generate enough lift to get her off the ground. Instead they act like little propellers, allowing her to "fly" across the ground on her scooter. We've seen her on many occasions hitting some pretty impressive speeds and pulling off some amazing stunts like that. As an adult I can see Scootaloo becoming a daredevil and putting on shows that would impress even the Wonderbolts. And I'm pretty sure Rainbow Dash would be incredibly proud of her young protege for such an accomplishment, especially since she earned it without ever being able to fly. Kyoshi Frost Wolf 41,894 October 20, 2015 Share October 20, 2015 Cannot agree with this more if I tried. One aspect that I really love to see in this show is self acceptance, I think Scootaloo is a wonderful candidate for that subject. She may not be able to fly, but that doesn't change who she is, what she loves and her devotion with her friends. She is really good on that scooter from what we have seen and apparently can pull off some pretty impressive maneuvers already and she is quite young. I don't think anyone should be pressured to be great at something, they should be happy with what they can do and work on that if they so want to.l In Scoot's case, she may not be able to fly at all, but that is why she should embrace what she loves anyways, she doesn't need to fly for any of that.
Wind Chaser 4,768 October 20, 2015 Share October 20, 2015 (edited) I made a blog post on why not resolving Scootaloo's loose ends actually works to the character's advantage, and why fans like myself have gravitated more towards her. I go along with what @Kyoshi said about self-acceptance. We haven't seen much of it in the show. The Mane 6 and the other two Crusaders all have big dreams and have had it relatively easy as far as pursuing and achieving their goals, whereas Scootaloo and Spike seem to be the only characters with both external and internal barriers that may complicate their futures. Scootaloo and Spike are the remaining underdogs; characters with whom we can sympathize and better identify with as alternatives to the success stories the Mane 6 have become and the other two Crusaders may have an easier time coming to in the future. I'd like to see an episode dealing with how Scootaloo actually uses her natural talent and comes to terms with it. The main thing setting her even further apart from the other characters is the fact that we've never seen her use her talent for anything other than her own amusement, where flying has proven more practical throughout the series. I could understand a desire to fly in that regard, and Scootaloo coming to doubts with her own self-worth with a seemingly impertinent talent. You don't have to answer to whether Scootaloo is ever going to fly or not, but appeal to this aspect of her character and give closure on how she can actually use her talents. geartree 33 October 21, 2015 Share October 21, 2015 I feel that although to me it doesn't matter if Scootaloo flies or not(at least to me), that she might end up flying. I feel that it would be nice as well as a good moral in some senses, but in other senses a bad moral for kids watching. If maybe someone had some disability watched the show might think that if they worked hard enough they can overcome a disability, even though for some they might not be able. As for her character, some might say it would make her a more interesting character, but I feel she would be the same whether or not she could fly. I believe that's the story the show is selling, and I quite agree. 1 Hearts, as strong as horses.

She has flown before , but every attempt seems to show her using extreme effort to generate the slightest lift I hope it means that she would be good at land transport instead, It would be 20% cooler XD
cider float 2,539 October 21, 2015 Share October 21, 2015 I don't see the problem with her unable being to fly. Like 95% of the unicorns out there don't even get to reach the full extent of their magic potential like Twilight yet nobody complains about that. ManaMinori 4,146 March 15, 2016 Author Share March 15, 2016 I still very much want this, and hoping to see Scoots being as awesome on her scooter as Big Hero 6's Gogo Tamago is on her anti-gravity wheels. (Better yet, having RD trick out her scooter with anti-gravity wheels using pegasi magic) Just all kinds of epic!
