Luna and Celestia's weapons from "Fall of The Crystal Empire"

Could these really be the weapons they would use if they fought? Cause that sword looks like something Luna would definitely use, and celestia seems more likely to use that lance/polearm hybrid.

I have some mixed feelings on the matter.  The weapons themselves are awesome and their designs definitely fit the style of the two sisters.  But, even with the use of levitation magic, are either really practical for a pony?  I mean, how would an earth pony or pegasus even wield such a weapon?  Would they grip it in their mouth or do the whole "suction cup" hoof thing?

 

This has always been an issue of curiosity for me.  Wouldn't ponies have developed weapons specifically suited to be wielded by a hoofed quadruped?  Like, a lance mounted on their saddle or a duel-bladed cavalry sword they could hold in their mouth?  Using weapons designed to be wielded by a hand just doesn't seem at all practical to me.

I really loved the way Sombra's scythe changed shape with Luna stole it from him.  Again, it's appearance fit her Nightmare persona perfectly.

Actually I think that all may be optional or that those with spell wielding abilities may just use their magic as a sort of prehensile appendage. 

 

 

As for whether they'd wield them or not, I'd say it depends on both the writers and the situation. Like the sombra, likely to have been used. In a more militarized battle (army vs army) the sisters may stow their personalized armor and weapons for a more conformed set, as a morale booster for the forces under their control (the whole "I'll fight for my leader because they are willing to fight alongside us" kinda thought). That's counting if the writers will give us the kind of battle that either the animation mentioned above or the tirek fight could become and that the fandom craves.

 

I know in my head canon the sisters do have the weapons (sombras has become a trophy in a display case in their armory) and only bring them out when they decide to get in a bit of a sparring match or want to test any high achieving guards as a ranking exam, or when I get them hyped up enough to poof up the weapons and attempt to teach me a lesson (warning DO NOT tease any of the sisters for longer than is acceptable). Lulu was even using that gorgeous blade to train me to use mine own specially crafted spell blade after having to learn to do things the Equestrian way. Needless to say I ended up lunging with an overly used favorite of mine with an all too easy weakness, she dropped her blade exploiting mine's current weakness, I landed behind her and was sent sprawling a few yards with a hoof print shaped mark in my bumm.

They totally would. But that would require a bit more imagination on the part of the creators.

Also, new weapons designed for an entirely different species aren't nearly as recognizable as human weapons would be to viewers.

Possibly, but I am pretty sure at the time Celestia and Luna just wielded the elements of harmony as weapons and didn't really need to use anything else, considering how powerful the elements are.
