Didn't see a thread so...

 

anyone started watching Mr Robot at all? It got a ton of awards for best tv show this year so I looked into it and I'm blown away!

 

Even after only watching one episode, thoughts and theories are already whirring through my head and there are so many subtle things in the writing which both add to the mystery and complexity of the narrative, which is already very impressive with its realistic protagonist (suffering from social anxiety) and the very realistic situation it shows us (one media corporation effectively controlling and policing society)

 

I would HIGHLY recommend it if you havent started watching it yet

I can see why you might think it, but in truth, all they share is the common theme of hacking the media. That's where the similarities end pretty much.

The original ads made it look like stupid garbage so I stayed away. But trusted sources suggested otherwise so I caught up with the first season.
Still a few episodes behind though. Great show.

I've watched all episodes of Mr. Robot and I really enjoy it. I also like how technologically accurate the show is (all the computers used by the members of FSociety actually have Kali, a Linux distro made for hacking and penetration testing on them), which is unlike most depictions of hacking in movies, TV and video games.

Definitely one of its strong points. I just love their approach to Elliott's social anxiety in some of the episodes, purely because he is thrown into group or public situations where he reacts so uncannily to how I would, I genuinely feel a little uncomfortable..which is certainly a new experience for me

 

but they did a good job with all the computer stuff too
