Equestria Girls - A Thought?

Hi guys!  So I've just been watching Equestria Girls for the first time, and think it's pretty good tbh.  The transition between the universes is believable-enough and not rushed.   The storyline and moral was a bit clichéd / predictable by the end, but overall I enjoyed this venture from MLP.  I just had a few thoughts I wanted to share with all of you:

 

1 - Why exactly do Celestia and Luna decide to send the mirror to Princess Cadence?  It's a significant plot-hole that's not really explained, simply that Celestia hoped that by moving the mirror portal around Equestria that would somehow confuse Sunset Shimmer? 

 

2 - If this universe is a parallel, wouldn't there be a Twilight Sparkle already in the human world (and Spike)?  I mean, what would have happened if the Mane Six had followed her into the portal? Would there have been two of each character? Likewise if the humans had come to Equestria, would they have been turned into the exact same ponies as the Mane Six?  If it's to be an exact parallel world, Twilight - and her pre-existing friendships with her human friends - would already exist, before Princess Twilight made the jump.

 

Other than those two niggly issues, I loved Equestria Girls! As we speak, I'm preparing to watch Rainbow Rocks! :comeatus:

Twilight already exists in the Equestria Girls universe. For now, they don't interact or have significant screen time. Perhaps a fourth film may address it.

1. Expect far more plot holes along those lines. RR has an even more glaring one. For my actual answers I'm drawing from the Reflections arc from the comics, as well as the 'Fall of Sunset Shimmer' arc: Celestia sent the mirror there because she would be tempted to use it as she had before, and because she considers losing Sunset to it one of her greatest failures. Additionally, I can imagine she indeed partially did it to confuse Sunset if she wanted to grab something from the Canterlot palace.

 

2. While there is indeed another Twilight (who I believe was mentioned in passing by Pinkie in the first movie, won't say anything about the others since you haven't seen them yet) the human world is not an exact parallel with Equestria. It's a mirror universe, yes, but the dynamics are different both because of the inherent differences between Equestria and the human world, and because Sunset was going around destroying friendships.
