(OOC: Here, believe it or not.)

You may have seen these two pop up here and there, in art or in fiction or a bit of both but we’ve never formally introduced them until now!

“Quite formal, indeed.”

“So formal we should have mustaches! We should have gotten mustaches for this!”

“I… no comment.”

AAAAaaanyway…. Like Buffy for MLPF, and Pixel Wavelength for Poniverse entirely, Roleplay World have their own Mascots: The twins…

“Fraternal twins.”

“Ever wonder what it would have been like if we were the other kind?”

“What, Siamese? I don’t want to be a cat.”

“No, I mean… wait, what?”

You two are making this very difficult, you know that right? In any case, I’d like to introduce Wordplay:

“Heya.”

And Fair Dice:

“It was originally Fairplay, but I changed it when my cutie mark appeared.”

“Huh. You know that brings up a question… Hey big bro? You changed your name to Road Map, right? Because of the cutie-mark, right?”

distant response “Yeah.”

“What was it before?”

distant response “Dude, I changed it for a reason. They’d never let me into the Guard with… never mind. Need-to-know basis only.”

“Oooooooh, a scandal. Now we have to find out.”

Okay, guys. This was supposed to be a simple introduction post in the OOC section. Now as a mod I have to send it to the RP section to follow the rules.

“Remember to link to the OOC in the first post!”

THIS WAS THE OOC… but then you… arrrrrrrghhhhh….

Wordplay and Fair Dice

Fair Dice wiped down the table set up under the small pop-up tent, while Wordplay stacked a variety of stuff on the shelves around the outside edge. The Winter Wrap-Up Faire hadn't really kicked off yet, though technically the 'gates' were open. The Faire takes place the day after the actual Wrap-Up, in order to give all the ponies a day to recover after the hard work of cleaning up Winter. Normally the faire hosts all sorts of arts and crafts for sale, fancy baked goods (nominally to use up all the stuff left from winter storage), as well as some games like Hoopla, the Coconut Shy, and the ever-present Dunk Tank.

It was with the games that this booth was grouped. Road Map had already left after having set up the majority of it, as he has Guard duty that day, but there was still lots of stuff to arrange. Various manuals, dice, and tiny little figures from their store of vintage role-playing games and accessories. Duplicates, of course, so they can actually be sold as 'collector editions'. However, that was all dressing.

For Wordplay and Fair Dice had a mission. They were there to answer questions. To get ponies interested enough to sign up onto Pixel Wavelength's little project, and do their role-playing there. And for that, the pair were praying that the portable computers that Pixel had lent them were going to behave. The last thing they needed was a bonfire in the middle of the booth.

It looked like some ponies were already wandering the Faire. And the twins were ready. Who would be first? Would anyone be first? Oh sweet Celestia, is anyone going to even come over?

Copper hummed a tune while walking around the Winter Wrap-Up Faire.  After helping out in Ponyville he decided to take some time and enjjoy what the faire had to offer.  He saw what looked like twin ponies set up a little booth.  So he came to the booth to check out what was in store.  While in there he greeted the twins.

"Hi, there!  I'm Copper Strikes.  What'cha guys doing?"

A red pony with a purple and violet mane walked into the faire. She wasn't sure why she was here, she wasn't one for festivities. But for some reason she was drawn to this place, or more specifically the booth with two ponies that looked like they were waiting for something to happen. She quietly walked over to the booth and when she was near enough she started looking around at the booth and the ponies. She wanted to ask what the booth was for, but it appeared another pony had already beat her to is.

Wordplay and Fair Dice

The twins looked at each other in panic. They actually hadn't thought this far ahead. Setting up the booth, displaying their wares, getting the computers to not burst into flames... that's as far as they had gotten in the planning stage. Maybe they should have asked Buffy or Viola for help, as they were far more experienced with this kind of thing than they were. Or even Nova... no wait, the point was to have the computers not on fire...

"Uh... Hi!" Wordplay stuttered.

"Yeah! Hi!" Fair Dice joined in.

"We're here to introduce everypony to Roleplaying."

"Or help out ponies already into it, with some things they might never have seen before!"

Copper looked at the twins with confusion.  Had they not thought this whole role play thing through?  Have they just started?  Questions kept flowing in his head, and there was only one way to answer them.

He was going to test them.  Starting with a question.

"Alright.  Let's see what you two know about role playing.  I'll start with easy questions before going into the more complicated ones.  Now, what kind of roleplays are there, specifically?"

Wordplay and Fair Dice

Wordplay shrugged, "Well, that depends on the system you're using to categorize them, really."

Fair Dice grinned, "You could divide them up by genre, you know: Historical," She quickly folded up a piece of paper into a rather silly hat, and dropped it on her brother's head. "Adventure!"  Standing up on a chair she waved an imaginary sword around. "Post-Apocalyptic." Jumping down off the chair she skulked around dragging a leg behind her as if it was injured. "Romance!" She swooned with her hoof to her forehead, "and so on."

Wordplay shook his head at the antics, "There's by media: Tabletop, Play-by-post, Live-Action, etc."

Fair Dice started pulling stuff off the shelves, "Or system: Ogres and Oubliettes, PonyFinder, Blanket Universal Character Kernel. Lots of options there." She peered at one book more closely before shuffling it under the table. That one ... shouldn't be on display... "But what most people mean by 'type' of roleplay, is..."

Wordplay sang out, "Narrative, where the focus is on storytelling."

Fair Dice chimed in, "Game, where the focus in on mechanics."

And then they pause, as if waiting for something. Wordplay chuckled, "Oops, he's not here." Fair Dice giggled, and finished the trilogy, "And Simulation, where the focus is on reproducing events."
