gaming Stupidest Conclusions to Video Games

The ending of RAMPAGE on the NES... All it does is say "Congratulations!!" On a blank screen, nothing more. After going through such a long and tedious game I felt I deserved more. (Aside from using a cheat code, but even then it took 4 hours...)

A meta-example: Rockman Cross X. The third fortress stage instantly kills you as soon as it starts, making the grueling boss fights leading up to it completely pointless.

Megaman: An Uncertain Future. Dr Wily captures you after you blow up the Wily Capsule as usual.

The Flash game Don't Kill The Cow ends with your wife starving to death if you don't kill the cow.

The Flash game UniWar (not to be confused with the IoS game): After you defeat the final (and only) boss, he doesn't blow up. Instead, he crashes your ship with one missile, ending the game on a cliffhanger that has never been resolved and probably won't be. What a waste of time. Attention all video game developers: Stop having player-defeating cutscenes, and games need to stop assuming they'll get sequels. Every single installment of Harry Potter has an ending that makes it readable/watchable on its own. Unlike Half-Life, Splatoon didn't need a cliffhanger to set up a sequel. in fact, according to Google Trends, Splatoon is getting more attention than Half-Life nowadays.
