IPS has nothing to do with this. I host MLP Forums on my own server, which I rent from another hosting company.

Isn't it possible that someone seeded out Invision sites and attacked them because the run IPB?

Well, maybe it was a coincidence, but it happened to about 5 or 6 sites I visited yesterday. But it seems to be back to normal now, so I'll just leave it at that.

I've written up a mass email to let everyone know about the incident. It's being sent out right now.

It seems silly to attack sites just because they use IP.Board. There are a number of much, much larger forums than us that use the software.

Then again, the idea of attacking a site with the sole intent of bringing it offline is silly to begin with.

Well, if we've gotten this far with the fandom, and that's the pinnacle of what we have to worry about, I think we're in pretty good shape.

Unless they all use the same host as us which would be very unlikely or this person as a hate against IPS boards and has decided to attack them all or something.

People often do silly things and DDOS is one of them because it could be argued that they gain nothing from it other then the chaos and disruption to those who use the site. There are people who find enjoyment in the misfortune of others though with Discord being one of them.

There's too many possibilities to why whoever did what they did but one thing that is certain is that we have become well known enough for someone to think it's worth their time to bring us down. There's no point them targeting a site that no one ever goes on.
