TheMarkz0ne 962 April 1, 2016 Share April 1, 2016 The typical formula for all seasons 2 part opener episodes 3-24 are all slice of life 2 part closer I personally think the show needs to make some of these openers a bit more longer. Why? Well I thought the season 5 finale was rushed, but had some things I enjoyed, like seeing all the bad futures, but only to have so many detours and not seeing everything in depth. I know they can't all the time. But other shows have done the long running episode really well. I think I remember Teen Titans having one five parter and everything blended properly. That's another reason why last weeks opener was underwhelming, because they should have focused on either Starlight Glimmer and Sunburst's friendship reconstitution, or Flurry Heart's crystaling separately. cmarston1 5,964 April 1, 2016 Share April 1, 2016 I don't really think we should have a 3 or 4 part format over the 2 episodes premiere and finales. MLP FIM isn't a show like Steven Universe or Avatar, there isn't any huge epic and extensive storylines going through the seasons that would justify that amouny tof episodes focusing on one event. FIM is primarily a slice of life show, and thus I don't think that the format you are suggesting would work for it.
BastementSparkle 20,335 April 1, 2016 Share April 1, 2016 You know, I think it'd be pretty cool to have like a huge 4-part story at some point. Maybe for the series finale. But not normally, I think the 2-parters are just fine as it is. If we had two 3-4 parter stories every season, that's 6-8 episodes used, a lot less time for normal slice of life stuff, which is the main meat of the show. If they did use a larger multi-part story, I'd want it to be a really special one-off kind of thing. Twilight is best pony. Why hello MLPForums! What have ya been up to? heavens-champion 1,907 April 1, 2016 Share April 1, 2016 I think it's a good idea. It'll solve the Crystalling's problem.
CrystalCarol 16 April 1, 2016 Share April 1, 2016 I think it'd be 'okay' for a special few finales, but nothing more really. The s5 finale, for example, I think it would've gone nicely if Hasbro made it a four part.
ThatAnonymousPony 133 April 1, 2016 Share April 1, 2016 I don't think it's completely necessary, but I think it would be good if they tried that one time.

Jangocoolguy 433 April 2, 2016 Share April 2, 2016 If it ain't broke... Maybe for the series finale. Otherwise I can't see them making a story that takes so many episodes without things being forced or awkward. "It's like I found a piece of myself I didn't even know was missing!" How do you think WE feel?!
That Guy with the CMB 5,876 April 2, 2016 Share April 2, 2016 Three to four parts is like...a movie, because four thirty-minute parts equal two hours, although...commercials and all. >.> But anyhow, I don't think they should be that long. It would probably get repetitive and it would take a lot of ideas to fill that time. You can only stretch out one idea so much before you need new content. Not doubting they could do it, I guess, but it would probably take considerably more effort writing-wise. Romans 10:
snowflame 189 April 2, 2016 Share April 2, 2016 4 episode idea seems too taxing for children I think. I would love it personally however, especially since the cast has gotten so big that not all the characters have something to do in finales. My personal idea that could solve the issue would be a 4 parter in a way that would spilt the cast. Lets say Twilight, Spike, Starlight and the other Princesses would go to some other country some important event when something would happen in part one and they would solve it in part 2, but the cliffhanger would be that they hear that something horrible has happened in Equestria in the meantime. Then here would be two parter that would happen in the same time with the mane 5, Discord and Shining Armour having to deal with the problem in Equestria. Twilight and the rest would arrive to the final minutes of the last episode to help with some battle but the rest of the characters would be the ones handling the issue. This way all the characters would have something to do and we would get 2 different two parter episodes.
Phanact 333 April 2, 2016 Share April 2, 2016 Nah I don't think the show needs to be like that. Waiting a month to find out the ending or whatever, because they'll split them into 2 and 2 for the opener and finale, totally not worth it.
