Fluttershy is a Flutterpony

Or rather, she has more Flutterpony genes than Pegasus genes. Why? Simple. Fliutterponies (generation 1 subspecies of pegasi) were ponies that were slightly shorte than the earth/unicorn/pegasus ponies, and noticeably longer, slimmer legs. (As well as fairy wings that glittered with fairy dust). They lived in isolation from other ponies in what the other ponies describe as the most beautiful place in Ponyland- Flutter Valley. And they cherish nature, tend to the valey's plant life, etc.

Much like Fluttershy....

Skinnier, and longer legs than the other mane 6, lives in isolation, is shy, is a caretaker of plant life...No doubt she's a Flutterpony, but also has pegasus genes from mixed parentage, or ancestry.

I think this is more just a convenient coincidence, as Lauren Faust's original designs for Fluttershy were that of an Earth Pony. That or later in the show her filly design was made in reference/homage. I don't believe that her being considered a flutterpony would have been a defining design trait. There certainly are interesting similarities, and I'd be open to that direction being taken when expanding on her character. Perhaps an opening for her parents' introduction? Fluttershy's brother has been confirmed to appear in a future episode.

It's a very intriguing observation, not to mention highly ironic how for like these whole past two years now I've been nick-naming her "The Flutterpone" or "Flutterpony" just as a little nickname "play" on her actual name, frankly because of the fact I find her name to be just too adorable for words. :adorkable::fluttershy::squee::blush:

A huge thank you to my great friend AppleGearRising for this signature picture

Thank you Apple, I love it so much!

Normally I would just post the picture, but as it seems, it is too big to put in the signature here, so here is the link to my MLP personality test results:

Interesting theory! I doubt it's true but I'd support it... it'd certainly make for some interesting stories. The flutterponies were my favorite when I was little... probably another reason why I love Fluttershy so much. I know there's pretty much no chance of this but I'd love to see the flutterpony (summerwing) "High Flyer" make an appearance in FiM... maybe even as Fluttershy's brother. "She" was always a "he" in my imagination and his dragonfly cutie mark would fit with Fluttershy's butterflies. Haha. Won't happen but it'd make my nostalgic heart happy. :squee:

Not meaning to sound mean, but you're REALLY reaching here XD
Its highly doubtful that there was any significance behind fluttershy's appearance or that she'll turn up having flutterpony heritage anytime soon (or that flutterponies will appear).

That being said, if they were ever to decide to give the mane six Rainbow power 2.0 Forms for selling deluxe models, I think fluttershy WOULD look good with butterfly or insect wings, to corrolate with her Cutie mark.

I hope it's a future reference. We need g4 Fliutterponies. I hope Flutterbrother is a full fledged Flutterpony

HIGHLY doubtful we'll ever have flutterponies.

Flutterponies existed to fill a niche: specifically, Fairy-like ponies. But Breezies fill that niche in G4, and introducing Flutterponies means you have a race that's fairly redundant. As such, flutterponies will almost assuredly never occur.
