Starlight's role in the show now seems clear (Hint: She's not a main character)

nice.. one good episode without her when we are almost halfway through the season (and even then, it could be WAY better with Starlight).

 

Starlight was brilliant in every single episode she had in in S5 and S6... without her (or some kind of change/addition to the main cast) this show can maybe make 2-3 good episodes per season from now on... its way past its prime (S2 - S4).

Aside from A Hearth's Warming Tail, I haven't found any of Starlight's episodes this season to be especially good and A Hearth's Warming Tail doesn't even really count as a Starlight episode. No Second Prances came close, but it had too many flaws (namely Twilight's OOC-ness) for me to consider it on par with The Saddle Row Review, On Your Marks, Gauntlet of Fire, The Gift of Maud Pie or even Flutter Brutter. As for there only being "two or three good episodes" in Season 5, I beg to differ. Off the top of my head, I can name eleven* good episodes in Season 5, only one of which had Starlight Glimmer.

 

*Those episodes being The Cutie Map, Bloom and Gloom, Make New Friends but Keep Discord, The Lost Treasure of Griffonstone, Slice of Life, Amending Fences, Rarity Investigates, Made in Manehatten, Brotherhooves Social, Crusaders of the Lost Mark, Hearthbreakers and The Mane Attraction.

 

Returning to the topic at hand, I hope the writers actually go ahead and do something with Starlight Glimmer this season. Despite its flaws, No Second Prances showed Starlight Glimmer has potential as a character, but I fear the writers will end up squandering any potential Starlight has by limiting her screentime to a bare minimum. It was bad enough the writers botched her redemption; the only way they could make the situation worse is by doing nothing with her after she's been redeemed.
