So who's gonna play this and name all the planets and species after ponies?

I can see there'll be absolutely no ability to immerse yourself if people are going to be naming shit after stuff like ponies.

 

Of course we all know people will also find some way to call every planet some variation of "penis planet".

 

On a serious note I am actually looking forward to this game. I like the idea of having such a massive universe to explore, even if the reality of procedurally generated planets and ecosystems doesn't turn out to be as great as the concept.

I am intrigued by the game, but I wouldn't say I am looking forward to it. 

Looking at the developers, I see they haven't made many games before, so charging full price for this may not be the best idea in my opinion. The game could very well not live up to the hype that's surrounding it. I mean, there's supposed to be outer space travel, yes? And you can visit many planets that are all procedurally generated. A lot of the planets could very well turn out to be almost identical, so I think this game has a lot to prove for me to have any interest in it.

I'm looking forward to seeing how it rolls out and seeing what it can and can't actually do.  I don't believe a lot of the hype that surrounds it and I think that it's going to be a major blow to the game if it can't hold up expectations but... I don't think it's going to be a bad game in of itself, simply not the one most people are expecting.  It seems to be heavily focused on exploration and I like that but I don't think it'll be able to keep it's infinite exploration mechanics up for as long as people hope.  Remember the first Borderlands game?  It's biggest advertising point was infinite procedurally generated guns.  It didn't catch on because one gun wasn't all that excitingly different from another of it's level.  I fear No Man's Sky will have the same issue with planets. 

 

Personally I'm more interested in another game in development; DUAL universe. 

 

Similarly unbelievable at first and might be promising things it can't deliver but a lot more exciting if it can deliver.
