TheAnimatorOfficial 567 July 15, 2016 Share July 15, 2016 I mean we already have a pretty A-list group (Tara Strong, Liev Schreiber, Uzo Aduba, Michael Pena, Emily Blunt, Kristin Chenoweth, Taye Diggs), but besides Tara, do you think these actors can pull off a highly original personality with animated characters? For reference, you have a movie like Inside Out which does an AMAZING job with its voice acting, and you have a movie like Shark Tale, which does a horrendous job. cmarston1 5,964 July 15, 2016 Share July 15, 2016 I am pretty sure that this movie is going to be fine and the voice acting will not be an exception to that.
Fhaolan 4,494 July 15, 2016 Share July 15, 2016 Actors turned Voice Actors tend to fall into three categories: 1) Nope, that didn't work at all. 2) They can do *one* character, mainly because their voice is way too distinctive and they don't know how to modify it. 3) Wait, you must have done this before. And it's not really possible to tell ahead of time, until they've been given a chance to try. There's several actors who jumped to VA work that surprised the heck out of me, like Mark Hamill. There's a couple of things that can help though. Comedic Actors tend to transfer their skills better. Comedy is all about timing, and given that voice acting is usually done alone in a studio with nothing to work off of, a good sense of timing is *critical*. Plus a lot of comedic acting involves impressions, which gives range of characters. Theatre Actors often are good at vocal performances. You can't survive in the theatre if you're vocally a plank of wood. Singing training also transfers well as breath control, projection, and the like are all good tools to have in the box. Most professional VAs take extensive singing training, even if they never intend to actually sing. So basically, for a good VA you're looking for someone who's the type that ages past would have ended up in Vaudeville. Comedic theatre song-and-dance peoples. KatonRyu 1,036 July 26, 2016 Share July 26, 2016 Aside from Tara I know none of these people. Still, I think that Hasbro would want good vocal performances for this simply because they want to make a lot of money off this movie. Because of that I'm not too worried about the voice acting skills of the actors.
