Vixor 80 August 19, 2016 Share August 19, 2016 (edited) It's not sexist, it's a fact. Stallions are generally much more tougher than mares, and having stallions as guards gives off the feel that the princess is being protected, it's easier for kids to understand that way. Complete nonsense, it's not a fact, it's something you made up despite nothing whatsoever indicating that. And it is terribly sexist to say blatant generalizations like you are; generalizing is a big component of sexism. Also, kids are perfectly capable of understanding it, teaching kids (and all the adult fans who enjoy MLP too, of course) that gender roles and all are bad and unnecessary is one of the big messages of the show. Kids are more than capable of learning that people shouldn't be judged, discriminated against, or generalized based on their gender, among other things that could be said there. The ponies have been quite clearly shown to have pretty equal potential for this sort of thing (things that may require physical strength, we've seen both mares and stallions are capable), both mares and stallions. If you think a pony like, say, Applejack wouldn't be just as capable of being a guard hypothetically, then you're just being silly. And no, neither gender has been shown to be 'tougher', there are again, a wide variety of personalities in both genders when it comes to MLP characters, and the ponies are individuals, aren't judged by their gender, etc. Neither gender has been portrayed as 'tougher' or more 'dominant', but rather both genders have been portrayed as individuals, end of story. I'm not talking as much about the gender roles in equestria as I am about how kids are going to interpret it. We all know for a fact that there are more males in the military, and that males are portrayed to be the protective type. Kids shows are supposed to teach kids about life, and they try to teach them these FACTS by doing things like having stallions as guards to show kids that males are superior to females in regards to toughness and being more muscular. PonyOfWar 126 August 19, 2016 Share August 19, 2016 (edited) Not only that but all the guards have the same body type and are either black or white in coat. I believe they are not intentionally neglecting diversity and more then likely just don't wish to sit and come up with unique designs for all the guards. I also kinda get a British military feel from them or at least the jokes about them ever reacting to anything since we have seen this used in canon before. Usually in other things that portray British soilders they make them look exactly a like, not just sharing a uniform but completely alike. Maybe that's what they where imagining when first creating them. I was really hoping the baby would be a make alicorn, while I'm sick of alicorns that would have made it so much better and unique.
