I got the game tonight (with a few other purchases) and beat it.

That was the best six hour fangasm I've ever had. ;-;

Note: There are spoilers in this topic so be wary of what you read.

I sat there and played that game from beginning to end, including the chaos emeralds and final boss, without stopping for anything.

Let me say this: I was going in expecting remade stages, but what I wasn't expecting was the absolutely amazing creations I was given. Every stage was so...original. Despite the fact they were based on levels from previous games they all still felt like their own levels. They were brilliantly designed and the music for each stage was amazing too.

Oh and don't get me started on boss fights, the first one was far more amazing than I expected it to be and was thoroughly epic, then Perfect Chaos came and though the fight did the same stupid crap that I hated about the original one where they went from the awesome theme song of the game to the not-so-great "final boss theme" everything else about the fight was amazing. Perfect Chaos looked way cooler and the level itself was so much better. I had so much fun running across the ruined buildings and through the water and seeing Perfect Chaos in the background while his water tendrils attacked me from afar. It was a really epic fight.

The final boss itself...well the music wasn't so great but the fight itself was pretty interesting. Had a bit of trouble figuring out what to do (not unusual for me when it comes to Super Sonic final bosses lol) but in the end it turned out great. The friends constantly talking through the communicator was rather useless and annoying though. It wasn't even interesting dialog like in Sonic Adventure 2, it was just "DODGE THIS, SWITCH WITH TRIANGLE" over and over and over. -_-

I've yet to do any of the challenges except for the "Friend Challenges" which I chose to do so I could get the boss keys but it definitely looks like a lot of fun to do them all. The rival fights were definitely great, especially the Shadow rival fight, that one was amazingly well done, especially with the music changing depending on who's in the lead. Now that was a truly epic fight.

My one and only disappointment with the game was my one most anticipated stage: Crisis City. It was fun but it didn't feel like such a jump from the original like all the other stages.

Speed Highway, Chemical Plant and City Escape were definitely my faves and I definitely favor the Modern Sonic stages. This game was absolutely amazing though, it was the best six hours ever.

When I finished City Escape I was like "Now that is how you escape from the city!" cuz that level was just so damn fun.

What got me most in a lot of places was the great use of the scenery to get through the levels. Sonic jumping off of street lamps, an Orca Whale bumping me so I flew farther, etc.

This game made great use of the back and foreground. This is truly the best Sonic game and you'd be a fool to not recognize it's greatness.

Oh and also, this game had the best world hub I've ever seen. It was amazing.

10/10, truly the best Sonic game to date.

As much as I love Chemical Planet classic, I truly loved the Modern stage version of the song. That particular stage blew me away as my first true entrance into the world of 3D Sonic via old stages. (I had been playing Green Hill for three months prior due to the demo lol)

That's not fair.

We all know Rainbow Dash is the fastest thing alive.

I was hoping the game would be longer than six hours for what they are asking for it... I would ask if you were speed-running, but it's Sonic; DUH. It looks super fun and all, but if the game only lasts six hours... I'd be better off playing the Wal-Mart Demo's over and over and over. Half the games I got from the Ambassador Program I still haven't beaten, and I've easily put in more than six hours playtime (not consecutive...That Golf game does suck after all). And those games have been around from before I was born!

I won't be sad if somepony gets me the game. I'd happily enjoy it, the music is awesome, the stages are awesome, the gameplay is awesome, They may as well write RAINBOW DASH across it. But $48.99 for 6 hours seems a little steep for me. But who knows, those six hours could be worth the $48.99 + Sales Tax

Ugh, it's too much money for only 6 hours of gameplay, I'll wait until it drops down to $20...but thanks for the details, I didn't know if it was any good :D

as a Sonic fan myself, it pleases me that Sega seems to have made Sonic justice, finally. though i most likely won't pick it up in the near future unless given the opportunity. that's just how i roll.

I've actually heard that sonic colors was also pretty good as well, like the day stages in sonic unleashed. Hopefully they will keep all of this up, the sonic franchise needs to get back to its glory days.

i've heard that, too. and that Unleashed wasn't as bad as fans made it out to be, that most of them were just exaggerating.

i'll get them when i can. i have very little interest in getting new games, nowadays.

I don't care what any of the stupid fans say about Unleashed. It was, and still is a fun game. Sure the Wii and PS2 versions sucked...But the Xbox360 version is nothing short of entertaining. I can honestly say, I enjoyed the Night Stages (sometimes even more than the day stages.)

If you can remember, Sonic 06...is Sonic 06... And has already been deleted from most people's minds, or at least deliberately forgotten. It was just that awful. Don't try to deny it "it's no use." The controls were buggy, the camera hated me, and that one Silver Desert Stage made me kill four baby-child-things. After that, my tastes for games shifted. That could be why I enjoyed Unleashed so much.

Or maybe it could be, because it was just awesome... Albeit, the "Werehog" is a stupid name, and the storyline was a bit iffy (don't even get me started on Chip's voice actor.) But gameplay wise, it kept me entertained. The day stages were quick, and super fun to race your friends for the best run. The night stages were awesome when I was pissed/bored and wanted to do some button-mashing. Then figure out what the heck I needed to do to get a better rank. :P

It's graphics were nice (although the "Werehog" cutscenes lagged a bit.) And overall doesn't deserve the hate it's been getting...

i honestly think that this is just extremist Sonic-fans complaining over absolutely fucking nothing. sure, Sonic has had a share of horrible games recently, but Unleashed seems enjoyable in its right. i say that as a Sonic fan at heart.

I still think it's absolutely useless to bother with price when you are talking about a game's length. A game could be two hours long and be the best 60 bucks you ever spent.

Oh and as a Sonic fan who has really enjoyed even the "worst" Sonic games such as Sonic and the Black Knight and Sonic Chronicles I truly did love Unleashed and definitely liked the Werehog. I always thought the Werehog stages were actually better designed than the Day stages.

  • 1 year later...

Man, I found this game to be extremely exciting. Especially if you have a 3D TV and you're playing rooftop run. Not going to lie though, but the final boss battle I thought was kinda stupid...everything else I thought was fun.
