Possibly the later, as I believe the Mane 6 should be the heroines in the story

Technically I think that things will effectively go like this. It's alreadynamic confirm ed that she wrote and will sing two of the eight songs of the Movie, probably the beginning one and the ending one. Which... it's EXACTLY what happened with Zootopia (except that in that case they used both Try Everything as beginning and ending while here we're gonna have two different ones)
