ManaMinori 4,149 May 7, 2017 Share May 7, 2017 I adore both gothic and Shironuri styles, for their artistic and creative freedom, but both are so drastically different. I've dabbled a bit in the former, but never in the latter, and there are times when I wish to combine them, to have the best of both worlds and express my creativity. However, the religion I'm in puts emphasis on not drawing attention to yourself, not getting too caught up in trends, and dressing modestly. Do you guys think it possible to dress the way I like, but still be conservative? What about mixing fashion styles on two opposite ends of the spectrum? Can it be done without looking too weird? Have you guys ever experimented with mixing two drastically different fashion styles? How did it turn out? Thuja 3,667 May 7, 2017 Share May 7, 2017 Well there's things like corporate goth that emphasizes some modesty. I think there's also such a thing as "White Goth"??? I'm not really sure, that's a tricky question. Might I ask what religion you're a part of? I guess I might not be all that helpful since I only wear blue jeans and t-shirts.

The closest thing I know of to such a thing would be Shironuri, but that's hardly gothic. I don't really feel comfortable saying over the internet, due to people's opinions. Just know that its very conservative. But thanks for your help. Justin_Case001 4,938 May 9, 2017 Share May 9, 2017 I am an absolute fashionista, and I love experimenting with all sorts of crazy things. I would highly encourage you to be true to your creative self, unleash your inner Rarity, and wear what you love. Absolutely draw attention to yourself, because you are surely beautiful. I mean no offense, but I would also encourage you to reexamine your religion, and decide if a doctrine that dictates how people should dress, live, and express themselves is truly the best mode of navigating life. I don't believe in god, but if there is a god, do you honestly believe he/she would punish people for creativity, self-expression, and a healthy pride in their bodies and appearance? I couldn't believe that for a second. And it's not like we're talking about hubris, here. This is just beautiful expression. Perhaps there is a god, but these rules of how to dress were human-made. It's just someone else's opinion. You don't have to follow it. If there's no changing your mind about that, then it certainly is possible to combine these styles in what I would call a conservative manner. (I.e. not revealing or overly provocative.) However, I'm afraid it would be impossible to wear any gothic and/or shironuri without drawing attention to yourself, because the very essence of most fashion in this world is to be dull, boring, and just like everyone else. That's what makes your beloved goth and shironuri styles so wonderful: they're different and interesting. Please be different. Be interesting. The world has enough dull and boring. cmarston1 5,965 May 13, 2017 Share May 13, 2017 I don't really know a lot about fashion. I just know not to wear socks with sandals, and that I love wearing cool colors.
