Rosemead happily filled her friend with caring nuzzles and kept him locked in a hug, "I'm so proud of you, Storm." Her eyes glittered with joy. Erin suddenly interrupted her train of thought, "Now if you'll excuse me," he would say. She stayed silent for a while, still hugging the alicorn. All this commotion had made her head go dizzy, and it was rather hard to think it was really over. Her hooves lightly petted the stallion's cheeks in a reassuring fashion. She then turned to him, "Hold on for a moment." With a quick flutter, she flew behind Erin and delicately landed right beside him. "I just wanted to thank you for saving me." His bright green eyes made her heart race, "and I think you're just as beautiful..."

"Y-Y... You do...?" he said quietly turning around. He got out of his seat to face her.

"I-I'm sorry for snapping a-at your boyfriend. I'm just stressed. I save you guys, then I need saving, and no one seems to want to do that anymore, so I have to save myself and all. O-On top of that my temper rises whenever I see Storm... Agh I can't do this!" said, anger, sadness and pain creeping into his voice. His unsmiling eyes settled on the floor. He shifted on his hooves.

"Sorry... I-I shouldn't have said that." he muttered.

The flutter pony gave him an understanding smile and nuzzled his nose with hers carefully, "Oh don't apologize, silly, we know things like this happen." She noticed the hint of hurt in his voice and planted a kiss on his cheek, "I don'tk now why you keep saying Storm is my boyfriend, I doubt he even likes me that way." She giggled and blushed at the thought. Her wings kept beating, having already left a large mess of glitter on the floor.

Erin's face went bright red.

"Bu-but... u-um... He... *clears throat* I thought y-y-you liked him a-and it's obvious h-he likes y-you... I j-just assumed y-you were together a-and all...." Erin sputtered. A smile tugged at his lips, but he pushed it away.

"A-And yo-you already know how I feel about you...."

She blushed a bit more and and kissed his forehead, "I do know, and as for Storm, I don't think I could ever be possibly right for him, I think he'd deserve a princess of some sort." She giggled and shifted her hoof on the floor, "I-I better go check on him." Having reached her limit of shyness she quickly zipped off into the room where Storm was and carefully landed beside the noble alicorn. "Now, why don't you tell me how you defeated the demon?"

Erin sighed and left his study. He walked downstairs and cleaned up.

"I'm a lost cause..." he muttered.

"Well, At the last second I had transformed into my ultima form. It's a form that takes years off of my life span though. So a minuete in My ultima form is a year off my total life in normal form. but, it's ok!" He said happily.

He gave her a gentle hug and told her,"I'm glad you care if I'm alive or not...."

Rosemead smiled and returned the hug, "Of course I am, my dear friend, I wouldn't want you to be hurt one bit."

She kept petting his cheek and kissed it, "I hope that demon doesn't interfere anymore.." As she said this she grimaced at the wounds on his body.

"Hey Mask." Erin said glumly as he passed the earth pony.

Storm noticd that she was looking at the wounds on his body.

"Don't worryabout them Rose.....I've had worse done to me. I've even gotten sliced in half once." he said with a twinge in his voice.

"In half?" She sounded worried yet intrigued. As a foal would when its mother told a story, she sprawled comfortably beside him and widened her eyes, "That sounds terrible." Before she could ask for more details, a loud groan was heard. With all that had happened, she had forgotten to eat. "Heheh," she chuckled nervously.

Storm burst out laughing as soon as he heard the growl from her stomache.

"Heh.....I guess I could eat too!" he said with a chuckle.

Storm looked into her eyes and saw something...."Rose?" he asked with concern in his voice.

"Is there something your not telling me about your farm?"

"I- I-umm," she cleared her throat. The question had taken her completely by surprise. The vineyards? "W-well, we m-make wine." She tried to hide her nervousness, although the stuttering in her sentences made it clear she was hiding more. She tried to distract Storm with another question, "Why don't we see what's left on the snack table?"

Speda walked over to the refreshments table and took a small hay sandwich. She was starving. After that, she went to te pool.

Erin was calmly eating a sandwich in a more shadowy part of the room. He blended in with the dark hues and was nearly invisible. He had a depressed and brooding focused glare directed at the floor. He had never had so many emotions conflicting at the same time, so he didn't know what to do. His new form took some getting used to as well.

"Somepony help me through this nightmare..." he sang to himself quietly.

"Uhh...sure!" he replied.

Before Rose and him left the room, he stopped her and asked, "Rose....Please what are you hiding?"

Rosemead gently trotted towards the door, forgetting she had wings for that. She was stopped by Storm. "I.. well, don't you think you've lived through quite a few surprises today?" She gave him a bright smile and fluttered her eyelashes innocently at the alicorn in front of him. She couldn't just tell him about the Harvest, or the process for the special batches of wine.. he would either freak out or, being the hero he was, put a stop to it all. She personally disliked the tradition, which is why she had moved to Ponyville in the first place, but her family and friends thrived on it, and however terrible it was, there wasn't much of another way to gain life.

"Well actually, I live off of suprises!" He said with a chuckle.

He then got a sad look in his eyes. "Well if you don't want to tell me that's fine...." he said. "But it still wouldn't change the fact we're friends!"

Erin shrugged and walked out of the shadows. He grabbed a mug of cider and drank to his hearts content.

"What more to lose eh?" he asked Mask and chugged two mugs.

The mare's heart broke at the tone of his voice. She scratched the ground now covered with the dust from her wings and looked down in shame.

 

"For.. for generations, my family has made a special type of wine called sparkling wine. It is made by crushing grapes by hoof while fluttering our wings; the dust from them will fall into the must and give it special detox properties."

 

She stopped to look at Storm for a moment, took a deep breath, and continued, "It's quite wonderful, really, and it's really helpful when it comes to any type of poisoning... Nevertheless, there's another type we make, which is not really one to admire... See, a long time ago, our ancestors put the bones of a hero charred by dragon fire in one of the barrels to mix with the wine, in his honor, and they soon discovered that this gave it more power and even offered a few moments of inmunity to poison or sickness... ever since they discovered that, we've been using charred bones for a batch every 20 years... At first, there were volunteers among us, but later on, the Elders decided to use... others."

 

She took a deep breath, remembering everything, and tried to fight her anger back, "The thing is, what we call the Harvest is actually a tradition where the Gem, meaning the chosen flutter, will lure another pony into the dragon's den and collect the charred bones after it has been incinerated... I was the Gem the last time, but I decided to go against it after having betrayed and pretty much killing a special friend, and moved away from the Valley."

 

A sigh escaped her throat, "Now you know, I don't want them mistaking you for the tribute... You or anyone else, for that matter.."

"Oh, that sounds sad...." Storm said. "It's ok though since I can retaliate to something similar..."

She tilted her head sideways, had he not been disgusted at her? Her lips curved a smile and planted a kis on his cheek, "Thank you for understan-.." Her stomach gave a louder growl," ...Uhh, why don't we talk this over lunch?"

Erin finished his last glass and went back to his brooding. He ate another sandwich halfheartedly, trying to sort out thoughts. The look on his face was rather secluded and pained. He finished the sandwich and sat at a table near a window.

"Sure." He said with a smile.

 

As they sat down to eat,He started, "2,000 years ago there was a kingdom called Canterlot. The children each year were called to the center of the kingdom. where upon, the Summer Storm might choose the next ruler of the kingdom.....One year....The Summer Storm's lighning struck a child in the crowd...A young alicorn named Storm Spark....The King was furious and ordered the child to be killed. The guards had almost killed Storm's girlfriend Celestia. At the last moment, he saved her by giving himself to the king in return for Celestia's freedom.Then the gods were furious with the king and sent the Summer Storm to tear Canterlot apart. When the king was killed by a strike of lightning, and canterlot was about to be blown sky high, Storm flew up into the sky and gave himself as a sacrifice to the Summer Storm to save canterlot and everypony in it. When Storm was sacrificed, the place where he entered the heveans were 5 stones, later nicknamed, The Elements of Harmony, and a locket holding his picture and a pictue of celestia.

The Storm did not come for 50 years...Then the kingdom decided to choose Celestia to be their ruler for the time being....and every night....she could hear his last words echo in her head....I love you...."

 

He ended his story and said, "So, that's my past..."
