Maple laughed too, "Yes we probably should hmm..." She thought of something else to talk about. "So you know that I like apples. But what about you? Any preferred foods or drinks?" This was more of Maple trying to make conversation than asking an actual question but it was an effort at least.

Speechless thought for a moment before writing "Not really, I was lucky to inherit my diet mostly from my mother, and I don't really have any favorite foods and drinks." "I guess I like apples, and chocolate milk, but that's not really special."

Maple chucked "Well you'd love my dad's magic then. He can spawn a cloud... Made out of cotton candy... That can rain chocolate milk." She explained, "Well if you were alive before his reformation I'm guessing you knew that already." She giggled a bit more after the last but not sure how old speechless was but too nervous to ask

Speechless chucked too when he wrote, "I wasn't, but I did know, there is pretty specific explanations about your father's reign in one of the books I have read." "And I have heard stories about it, though they were more focused to your mother and her friends rather than who they were fighting."

Maple smiled to him "His reputation precedes him I see! Well he's a lot better now... He doesn't use a lot of magic now but it's all constructive use when he does. Mom however now refuses to use her element againt villans and tries to turn them good instead!" Maple smiled at him "My brother has a lot of catching up to do if he wants to be as good as his father." She noted

Speechless smiled back before writing, "That sound like something Fluttershy would do." "And if it's okay to ask, how powerful is your brother exactly?" They were now outside his parents' apartment building. He wrote more "Also, do you have something to ask about my parents?"

"Woody? He's about as strong as Twilight is now maybe approaching Starlight glimmer's strength." Maple explained to him not really having a better scaling method, Maple also read the second part, "Yea one. You're dad's a vampire pony and I'm close to that so I have to ask, Does he get 'Cravings' for blood? Even if he controls them do they show up at all?"

Speechless didn't know exactly how strong Twilight and Starlight were, but he guessed it meant that Woody was pretty strong, and for Maple's question, he thought for a moment before writing. "Yes, but he controls them with his special diet, he mostly uses blood from animals." he then wrote more "And even though you didn't ask." "I don't get those since I don't need blood like he does, but I don't find blood disgusting like normal ponies would."

"That's smart of your father. Really? How do you not hate that taste?" Maple asked curiously "I had to try it since I believed I was a vampire at one point. I really hate the taste... Is that because I'm not exactly a vampire rather a fruit bat? I don't know personally but it wasn't good to me at all." She explained to him not having anymore questions since his mother was a normal bat pony

Speechless shrugged before he wrote, "I don't know, maybe it's because I'm half vampire, I didn't inherit the need, but maybe I did inherit the taste " "I had my taste of blood before my parents knew if I needed it or not, I don't like it, but it's not because of the taste, because taste-wise it's actually the opposite." "It just feels wrong since I don't need it."

"Well, I'm glad you and your father don't drink pony blood then. Of course, if you need some I don't mind." Maple said a bit awkwardly "I'm an able-bodied mare so I have ample amounts of blood in my veins. I'd prefer your father take mine than the blood of animals, that's the Fluttershy in me talking but I do mean it."

Speechless didn't know how to react and that showed as he wrote "I most likely won't need to, but I keep it in mind." "And don't worry about the animals, he gets the blood in ways and amounts that it doesn't harm them." "And my mother sometimes gives little of hers too." "But I ask you to be careful with what you say if you talk about it with him, father doesn't really like what he is."

Maple held a hoof up defensively "Don't worry. I'll be careful but I'm not too proud of what I am either... being the only one of my species and all. But I've made quite the name for myself because of that little fact..." There was an awkward silence for a moment "You said your father was in the night guard a while back?" Maple figured she could talk with Him about that since she did a lot with the guard.

Speechless smiled sympathetically when Maple mentioned her opinion about herself, and for the question, he did a 'kinda' gesture and wrote "He tried to get in the night guard, but he was disallowed to continue." "But for the details you have to ask him, he doesn't mind telling about it." He then walked to the door of the building and opened it, giving a asking gesture for Maple to go in first.

Maple nodded a 'Thanks' to him as she walked inside and started up the stairs she realized she was leaving speechless back there and stopped to wait on him a bit. When she stopped she pressed her chest and felt it hurt but significantly less than before. "Phew... Looks like it's healing well..."

Speechless quickly caught up with Maple, and when up the stairs, he passed her and proceeded to knock to the apartment's door. After a short moment the door opened and Speechless' father held the door open until Maple and Speechless were inside. "How was the walk?"

"It was..." Maple smilied awkwardly to speechless "It was quite somethings" Maple laughed still kinda blushing a bit from earlier, She was bad at hiding her emotions since she normaly lead her forces through her emotions. She never learned how to control them adequately. She walked in and sat down, "Mr. Night... Can I ask you something?"

Speechless also answered to his father's question, with a sound, he managed to hide his feelings little better, but his father wasn't fooled, but he didn't say anything about it. "Good to hear." He said with his usual friendly tone as he closed the door. Speechless sat next to Maple, and his father walked to the kitchen, but when Maple asked if she can ask something, he walked back out of the kitchen, taking a seat, "Sure, ask away."

Maple heard him say it was ok. "I heard you where... Or well wanted to be... part of the night guard... But something happened? I kinda want to know the whole stroy behind that." Maple then tensed up. "I... I mean if that's ok."

"Oh, it's fine, I don't mind" Speechless' father assured before thinking for a moment, like trying to remember, "It was some time before Speechless was born, we had been together with Midnight for a while, and I decided that it was time for me to get a job at last." "I looked through my options and ended up deciding that the Night guard would fit me the best." "I don't remember who the captain was at the time, but he was confident that I would be a good guard, and thus the training started." He paused for a moment, but continued with the same positive tone "It went well, it seemed that I would become a guard in no time." "Until one night, after the training session, I was eating a pie that Midnight had made for me with.....special ingredient." "Long story short, one of the other trainees tasted it without my permission, and didn't exactly like it." "The captain was reasonable about it, he listened my explanation, and made his judgement."

"Oh... I'm sorry to hear that..." Maple said looking at him then looking down at the floor, "Had I been captain at the time I would've let you stay. If it means anything, you have the build to be a really strong guard though and that's not even seeing you fight." She smiled at him meaning well.

"I appreciate it, but I don't have any hard feelings about it" Speechless' father said with a friendly smile "Granted I wasn't exactly happy about it back then, but I do understand the decision." "The captain wanted to let me stay, but he didn't want to take the risk." "You can probably imagine what could happen if there was a word going around that one of the guards drinks blood."

Maple looked at him "Glad you don't resent the choice that was made. While I sorta agree there is me. I mean I look like one. Though I guess my parentage plays a port in that." Maple relaxed a bit "Do you wanna ask me anything? About me or my family?"

Speechless' father laughed a little "You don't look like a blood drinking vampire, there is normal batponies with fangs out there." His tone told that he meant it as a good thing "And not really, Speechless already told the things I would ask in his letter."

"Well, the thing is. I am technically a vampire but I don't drink blood. I drink fruit. Apples mostly." Maple explained to him, "Not sure if Speechless told you but seeing as you did help in my time of need you deserve to know if he didn't tell you." She woudn't explain WHY she was unless she was asked but the question normally never came up. "I don't think I caught your name earlier."
