Speechless had a understanding smile as he wrote "I'm not pretending, at all, but I do understand." "I'll do my best to not bother you about it." He added "I walk around a little, call me back if you want to go back to my parents' place, or need something." He than walked off, putting the notebook back to his bag, he wasn't going far, he just intended to walk around the small park. He sighed and his head dropped a little, though he was feeling happy, there was little sadness mixed in, and he wasn't sure why.

"Alright, I'll let you know." Maple then sighed looked at the broken fountain wondering how it broke and if they were trying to fix it all or just leaving it as it was. Maple started to hum something to calm herself down she felt pretty tense. She stopped and then watched speechless for a minute.

Speechless walked slowly, only looking forward as he walked along to edge of the park. His mind was a bit of a mess, he wasn't sure anymore what Maple actually thought about him, because though she had said she may have feelings for Speechless, her need to explain everything with something else than that, made Speechless question if that really was the case. And thought Speechless understood why Maple wouldn't want him to express his feelings, somehow it made him feel little down, he didn't know why, but it did.

Maple smiled looking at Speechless something about his presence just made her feel... something but she couldn't explain what it was but it was powerful...  More powerful than that snake that had crushed her. She just kept watching him wondering if he felt something too.

Speechless turned at the corner of the park, and quickly glanced towards Maple before looking back in front of him, not noticing that Maple was actually watching him. He felt odd enjoyment of sorts from Maple just being there, in fact, he didn't even feel like calling over any animals like he would usually do, many times he choose animal company over ponies, but now he didn't feel like it all.  He of course explained this to himself with his crush on Maple, or what he assumed to be a crush, he had never actually had a crush before.

Eventually, Maple decided they both had been there acting awkward enough "Speechless... Perhaps we should head back to your parent's place. I bet my mom dropped off some stuff for your parents... I mean if you want to stay here for a while and think about the things you feel I get that too... Not sure what they are myself."

Speechless turned towards Maple smiling and made a agreeing sound as he walked back to her. He waited for Maple to start walking first, and then walked next to her, keeping just a little bit bigger gap than before, still thinking.

Maple noticed the difference in the size of the gap and went to a neutral expression. Sighing, She worried that the distance was the result of her telling speechless how she really felt and he wasn't able to handle it so now he too, saw her as a freak of nature who wanted attention... She pushed that out of her head, He at least liked her... but she wasn't him so she'd watch to see if he continued to avoid her

Speechless had increased the cap because of his uncertainty about Maple's feelings, he didn't want to be too close in case Maple didn't want him to, but he also didn't want to be too far in case Maple did mean what she had first said. When he heard Maple sighing, he was faced with the decision if he should ask what's wrong or not, and choose to rather take the risk of being annoying, taking out his notebook and pointing at "Something wrong?".

"No... Sorry for dumping that whole 'monster' thing on you... I should've just kept it to myself as I have before." Maple smiled a bit however "But I think you're ok with it at least you haven't started completely avoiding me so you're less touchy than most..." She paused not sure if she was offending someone or even him. "You're cool you know that?"

Speechless wasn't entirely sure what Maple meant with 'monster' thing, but he didn't think about it any deeper because rest of what she said told enough. He wrote, "Don't be sorry about anything." "And what do you mean, at least I haven't started completely avoiding you? You think I'm avoiding you? or something similar?" Speechless looked almost sorry when he wrote more "I didn't mean it to seem like that, it's just that, even though you said you may have feelings for me too, the way you tried to deny the fact that I can like you just because of you, made me unsure if you wanted me to show it or keep it hidden."

Maple sighed but was relieved, She laughed a bit "It's ok. I'm not pushing your feelings away. I do like it really but... I've just... Never... Had someone spend so much time around me... and protect me with such ferocity... I won't be mad either way but tell me... Do you honestly... L... Love me... I know that's probably not what you meant by 'having feelings' for me but I had to ask." Maple was blushing intensely it was cute in Speechless' eyes.

Speechless indeed did find Maple blushing cute, like he did all the times before, but he wasn't going to tell it, because not only did he not want to make Maple uncomfortable, but he also felt it would be...weird. He wrote with a warm smile, "I do, I know we met two days ago, but I'm sure about it." well, he wasn't 100% sure about it, but he did believe it to be the case, it was the only explanation. Text continued, "And I do understand if you want to keep this between us two for now, this is new to me too."

Maple smiled a bit her next works studdered "I... I..." She started laughing it was a happy laugh but there was confusion in there as well, "I never knew someone could actually like me that much! Let alone that quickly... It's not unheard of though so it'll be alright.... I think... And yea keeping this between us two for now would be the best. If any of Chrysalis' Changelings caught wind of this..." Speechless thought this was another pause but she didn't continue from there. She didn't have much more to say.

Speechless waited for a second to maple to continue, but when she didn't, he wrote smiling "Life is full of surprises." "And aright, that makes sense." he then went closer to Maple, shrinking the gap to the usual, he was happy about the clarification, and did understand the reasoning why it would be better to keep it between them for now. But he also became thoughtful about the Changelings, he couldn't imagine what it was like to always life with the threat of someone posing as somepony you cared for, only to harm you. He then wondered, were changelings able to copy the talent of the pony they were posing as, or could that give them away.

Maple smiled to him, she was happy now "So knowing that you're quite the target for Chrysalis and her army... you accept the risks?" She looked at him for a second "Well that's farther than anyone else has gone for me... It means a lot."

Speechless nodded with a smile to the Maple's question, he wasn't afraid of that, but he wanted to ask something about it. He wrote, "So, about the changelings." "If they were to take me and replace me, would they have my memories, skills and talent?" He didn't really know anything about changelings, only the basics.

"No, they have to learn about you by watching you." Maple explained " They can't copy talents either, hay they'd still have a voice even but would have to stay quiet to mimic you accurately. Best way to tell is if they leave for a long time a lot. They have to return to the hive with stolen love after all."

Speechless gave almost relieved smile as he wrote, "Then you don't need to worry about falling for it, if you ever suspect me being replaced, you can just ask me to talk to animals." Secretly he was glad to hear it, not because he was worried getting replaced, but because he was worried about his parents getting replaced, but knowing that changelings only knew what they would observe gave him assurance that he would know if that happened, because his parents were the only two ponies in the Equestria who understood him without he needing his notebook.

"I'll try to remember that... If you ever have a similar suspicion... Well then hand me an apple! They can copy the fangs appearance but can't 'Drink' it like I can." Maple laughed a bit looking around quickly just out of a suspicion "Another way you could tell is I start speaking awkwardly but it's a bit less noticeable."

Speechless nodded in understanding to the apple point, it made sense, it also confirmed yet another way to know if his father was his father, but he wasn't sure what Maple meant with speaking awkwardly, so he asked writing, "What do you mean by speaking awkwardly?"

"Like my tone. They can do really good of impersonating a speech pattern but holding a different tone for a long time is harder for them especially if it's a changeling stallion and not a mare impersonating me." She explained " Though if I need to make sure you aren't that's a lot harder." She laughed.

Speechless made a sound implying he got it after Maple's explanation and then wrote, "Well, I guess the equivalent would be change in my hoofwriting, or like it's in my case, wing-writing." "Also one thing would be reactions, it's hard to stay quiet when you for example break something by accident, and what I have noticed is that ponies seem to like to at least mutter when something like that happens."

"Break something? Meaning like a bone? If it's bone... Mine or yours?" Maple said really confused about what he'd wrote. Going over it in her head she realized "Oh wait you mean like a pot or something... Yea That is a good idea. I'll have to keep this all in mind should you start acting... Strange."

Speechless chuckled a little and wrote, "Yes, a pot or something." he chuckled more when he added "Though breaking my bones would be pretty effective way to know if I can speak, wouldn't it." he then flipped the notebook back and added even more, now looking little bit more serious "And one good way would be my parents, they know me better than anypony else ever will, that of course if they can be trusted in that scenario." he then started smiling again and added even more "But we probably should start talking about something more positive?"
