gaming What the hell happened to F-Zero?

Hey guys.
Today I will talk about something different from MLP. I thought about it after the recent release of Metroid Samus Returns. I'm a big fan of most of Nintendo's franchises, and Metroid is one of my personal favorites, but after Prime 3 the series hasn't seen a GOOD game (if you know me I trend to put Other M on par of MLP's TWABA level of abomination), you can't immagine my surprise in seeing that the franchise was getting another GOOD game soon (well there were TWO games announced at the last E3 for that matter. However upon thinking about it, there is another Nintendo franchise that hasn't passed a better time in the years... and I'm talking about... F-Zero...

Metroid might have got an abominable game (technically two considering even Federation Force but.... I trend to consider that one like not canon and like if it never happened) between Prime 3 and Samus Returns but at least it got a game. F-Zero hasn't seen a new entry at all since GX which was released in.... 2003... if I think about it F-Zero is pretty much the only most iconic Nintendo franchise that hasn't got a single new game for such a long time (and now there are a lot of joke memes on Internet about whenever this series will get another game, even Sakurai joked about that when Captain Falcon was confirmed for Smash Bros 4, and that says a lot right?)... I really wonder why. It's not like the previous games were bad or sold bad, I just don't understand why Nintendo is not considering a new F-Zero game.

What do you think guys? What could be the reason F-Zero hasn't got any new game for such a long time? Do you wish to see a new installment of a franchise you love (not necessarily a Nintendo one) that hasn't seen something new for a long time?

I god i would LOVE to see another F-Zero game.

When the Wii came out, i thought it would do great with the Motion Controls but Nintendo seriously made no effort. Maybe it's time for the Switch to bring one out again.

F-Zero is one of my favorite racing franchises with iconic original tracks, great soundtrack and what not. But right now, it just seems F-Zero has been relegated to make guest appearances in Super Smash Bros. and Mario Kart and while i liked them, i want a totally new one.

Why not make a partnership with Sega again? Worked so great with F-Zero GX. :)

I could have another alternative to Sega: Shin'en. The authors of the not so bad F-Zero clone Fast Racing Neo. A partnership between them and Nintendo could bring an EXCEPTIONAL F-Zero game, if they only try. But in any case I think that a partnership would be the perfect deal to bring back the franchise... Also lately Nintendo is getting out of its shell and it's giving the handling of his franchises to other developers (Mario + Rabbids is an italian production made by Ubisoft, and Metroid Samus Returns is a spanish production made by Mercury Steam), so if there is a good time to gring back F-Zero and doing a partnership with a good foreign developer to make a great game, I think the time is now.

Nintendo decided to be dicks. But especially Miyamoto

No seriously, he's often sited difficulty in trying to create something new for the series going forward as a reason to not make one at this time

Which is rich coming from the guy who pushed the NSMB hard for a while

Miyamoto had stated that the F-Zero franchise was not dead in a 2015 Smosh Games interview and that there could be a potential new installment Nintendo were "to develop a unique controller interface for one of their upcoming consoles" (which we now know is the Nintendo Switch). It's very vague but I think Miyamoto is trying to figure out how to fit it in as an unique racing game. Nintendo's already has the extremely successful Mario Kart franchise, and we've seen what happened when Nintendo is forced to half-ass a game because the fans wanted the franchise – Star Fox Zero, anyone?

I'm sure he has reason to withhold from creating an F-Zero game just yet and I rather not have him be rushed into creating one. It still has potential to return for the Switch now, though sometimes Nintendo is a bit secretive when it comes to their games.
