Why does people think Thorax should join Starlight's friendship group?

I know in the season 6 finale, Thorax worked along side Starlight, Trixie, and Discord to claim the hive, but did you know Spike was his only friend at first? If we compare Triple Threat and To Change a Changeling, we can clearly see who Thorax likes better! I'm not saying Starlight and Thorax aren't friends, they are! Anypony can be friends in this show! But if we were to be making friendship groups on the show, Thorax would be in Spike's group with Ember, and possibly Scorpan once he comes on the show!

Basically Starlight and Thorax interact mainly because Chrysalis and the rest of the changelings are part of Starlight's arc, but Thorax himself is part of Spike's arc. Starlight ain't missing out without Thorax! She's still got Trixie, Sunburst, and Maud, and possibly more to come!

I fail to see why Thorax couldn't be part of both Spike and Starlight's friend groups, he's already friends with Starlight and Trixie, and he's already friends with Spike and Ember, there's already episodes of him with both of them. I'd like to see more of the "To Where and Back again" crew hanging out honestly, including Discord too.

Not to mention Starlight's one of Spike's friends too, so I don't think we really need to start drawing out these clear cut groups.

Yes, I agree. Thorax can be part of both groups, I don't see why not.

I actually prefer it being one big group actually! But no one is adding Spike and Ember when they talk about Starlight's group of friends, so I thought they didn't want that! Why doesn't Spike and Ember join Starlight's group then? That's a better idea!

Well, I wouldn't mind seeing Starlight hang out with Spike or Ember some more, Spike and Starlight get along pretty well whenever they're together, and Starlight liked Ember up until she started confusing her with Twilight. So, as long as the writer's can think up a good episode idea for Starlight with them I'm all game for them spending more time together.

I would consider it as being Thorax expanding his horizons when it comes to having friends and not being forced to choose one group or the other.

Cause, "Why not?"

Relationship dynamics are cool like that. Some friends are mutual while others are not. I've always thought of some of the Mane Six as having different bonds with one another individually. Same could be said for Thorax and Starlight.
