The story is half the reason I love DoS so much. :D

Though I do agree, when trying to get the ultimate weapons you gotta really grind for it and it gets a bit annoying. I love it regardless though. Ecclesia's difficulty was offputting at first because it was so hard compared to PoR and DoS but once I got used to it I fell in love with the game. Shanoa's animations are beautiful and I've still yet to get all the glyphs and try out all the union glyphs.

Aria of sorrow, so much memories.

There's a realy special story with this game, I wanted it very badly, I bough it with my dad, and in our way to home I was like "dady the box isn't heavy as usual, do you think something is missing?" "Wait untill we're home"

I didn't wait, opened the box, no game

So we went back to the shop and they were very nice with us, they didn't has another AoS but they gimme the choice, the previous on GBA, og Golden Sun the lost age (the selet told it was awesome).

I chose Golden Sun and that's how I discover probably the best original RPG of the GBA.

Finaly got AoS few mounth latter and I wasnnn't disapointed at all. A lot of people criticize the Sorrow serie but they are my favourite in a sentimental way.

And dont forget the rest, the new musics are wonderfull, and the graphism for the decors, so beautifull.

I was very surprise when this game cames out but streing is to admit that they tried something enw and completly suceed.

Was it realy harder ? To me the only hard Castlevanias are the side scroler ones, the metroid ones are kinda easy (mostly due to the RPG and upgrading part).

That's probably why I love, and hate those Castlevanias. I like to fell helpless againts a terrible enemy, and in those ones there's allways a way to make the game easier, by using the good weapon, combinaison, and there's a lot of possibility.

In the old's one the posibilities were very very limited and that's what brings most part of the chalenge. You nead to be as fast as possible, as clever as possible, you can only count on your skills.

But at the other hand, the diversity gives a good part to your imagination, and it's allways good to feel like a badass with your fully customized character (for example in Ecclesia, I beeted Dracula only by using the kick after the double jump, why? kuz I can)

So at the end, both of the type of game are adictive and good as hell.

Honestly I'm not one for challenge. If a game is that way naturally I don't particularly care and I'll play it anyway but I will never like a game more just because it IS more challenging than another, no matter the reasons why this is. I prefer to be able to destroy a game because I know it rather than always be struggling even to the end of the game. That's why I love RPGs, for the most part you can always get stronger or abuse the system just right to be ultimately powerful against the final boss.

Hey, no hate comin' from me! I love FFX-2 more than FFX personally. It's right up there with Dirge of Cerberus and FFIX as my favorite FF games. I love the Dressphere system, though I think it could have been executed a little better it was still good.

Oh and I love Eternal Sonata. I don't remember where I am now but I think I just got back to Baroque after going through the Sharp Mountains. (Seriously, why send me back when I just came from there? >_<)

Oh that's right, I was in that temple by Baroque for that spell or something like that.

Sory but I had too.

FF X-2 was my first final fantasy and I dont realy like it, it's not a bad game but not my cup of tea.

Sometime it's a good show (the way your char change their class, the introduction, seriously I never get bored).

But I didn't find the game realy funny to play, that's me that's all.

I'm not crazy about chalenge too.

Or not, I like chalenges because I'm crazy.

You can have fun with an easy game but there's a feeling of satisfaction I can only find by beating a true hard game.

I sometime buy games becauses they are suposed to be hard, but I dont complain about games when they are easy.

Actualy finish a realy hard game is is like eating true french "cuisine". At first you look, apreciate the way the meal is presented to you, then you try only a little tiny bite. You take your time to apreciate the taste, the aroma, and at the same time you're planing the best way to eat it so it can take as long as possible.

For a hard game you have to hold you back too, to think, establish a strategy.

........

Maybe I'm going to far with this comparaison.

But to finish:

It's also allways good to relax in your sofa with a simple but tsaty sandwish, and it's the same for the easy games.

Yeah, if a game is challenging I don't particularly complain, it's just I don't like the way of thinking that I've heard in a lot of places that if it's too easy it's not as good as it could have been. Why does no one like to just coast through games? lol

Anyway, I'm at the end of Wild Arms 2 and I'm about to do all the optional stuff then beat the game. After that I dunno what I'm gonna play but probably White Knight Chronicles II, Star Ocean 4 or Final Fantasy XII.

Ah Final Fantasy 10-2. I don't "Hate" The game, I just don't particularly like what it did with the characters of 10. Honestly, I love how the game plays and the pacing is rather good. It also didn't have a scene where Tidus is all like "HAHAHAHAHAHAHA" and I died a little inside. However, it started a bad habit of Square I'm noticing, 13-2 and possible 13-3 (Have you heard of such a thing?!) and I'd rather just forget about that one really.

Best characters iyo? Junpei Iori (Persona 3),

MARRY ME! :P okay that little outburst out of the way, me and you think on the same wave length is seems, Junpei is a boss! Love that guy! (Another canadian yay :D)

Your favorite RPG series: It's hard to pick a specific one, but I really do enjoy, or at least appreciate, Final Fantasy.

Your favorite RPG? (If different from above) : Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

Your favorite ability system: Teaching your Pokeymanz moves. I like the level of strategy it can add to the games.

Best characters iyo: Daniel from Parasite Eve. I can do nothing but respect the token black guy who doesn't get killed right away.

Favorite sequences/bosses? (Keep these in spoilers for those who don't wish to see it please!) :

Granfaloon from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. I have a thing for destroying large piles of human flesh.

Favorite RPG setting: The Capital Wasteland in Fallout 3. Totally makes up for the frightening character models.

Preferred encounter type? (Visible or random or other?) : Visible. None of them Dark Cave Zubats for me.

Do you like RPGs that are traditional more or ones that are unique in some way: I do like it when RPGs change it up a bit, but it's a good idea to stick to the basics.

RPG series you would recommend to anyone: The MOTHER series. Especially the ones that you can't get your hands on outside of Japan.

Favorite RPG soundtracks or songs? Do you prefer battle themes or immersive town themes, etc. : The battle music in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars.

I've recently resparked my love for older RPGs by finally purchasing Diablo II. Maybe in twelve years I'll get around to playing Diablo III.

I really liked Yuna better in FFX-2, Rikku is always great IMO, but I can see that point. I just have the most fun actually playing that game though which is why I put it as my favourite. I don't see direct sequels as a bad habit either, considering that I greatly enjoyed FFX-2 and I'm enjoying FFXIII-2 currently.

Junpei IS awesome, and so is Canada :)

Also I should add Garrus (ME, ME2, ME3) and Wrex (ME, ME2*, ME3*) to my favourite character list.

One of the reasons I loved FFX-2 was the fact that they did change all that they did. Characters and locales were transformed since they didn't have the fear of Sin destroying all of their hard work anymore so it stands to reason they'd make some serious advancements in technology, particularly since they already had a good basis thanks to the Al Bhed and Zanarkand stuff that was probably left over in ruins.

Not to mention seeing a world that was mostly fearful people turned into a world with people more confident in themselves or people who would outright commit crimes against one another. I'm not saying crimes are bad but the transformation of Spira was absolutely amazing imo and that's one of the reasons I very much love FFX-2.

I absolutely agree with everything you guys said! (Still can't forgive 13 though. 13-2 was an upgrade but I was still a bit disappointed, I've always loved the older games) Except maybe Yuna's character, seems like a bit... Much if you ask me. But I guess anything is better than her being a doormat, just kinda going with the flow of everything rather than showing some kind of spine (Not consistently, I don't wanna get jumped at for that one). I liked the change of tone for sure, showed what a world with out Godzilla stomping around would be like. Last boss was a let down (So was Yu Yevon for the same reason I am about to give) I took him down in like 30 seconds and i didn't even grind my buns off! 3 turns of just normal spells, then Charon from my Dark Knight for 9999 damage and he was done. Yu Yevon was worse though, done in 1 hit. (Damn you Blitz Ace, y u so good!). On a side note, I really liked the class system it's why drew me to Final Fantasy 5 actually! (PLAY IT!). Oh last thing, don't play FFX-2 if you don't like side content because that's honestly the bulk of the game. I like side content as much as the next guy but the game needed a bit more meat on it's, too easy to just blitz through. RANT OVER, I swear. I still like the game but I had to get that out of my system, thanks for putting with me xD.

Do MMORPGs count? If so I'd like to say WoW. I really loved that game until Cataclysm, raiding especially.

Did someone say WoW?! I swear I'm talking to female me... WHO ARE YOU?! I'd say WoW counts, not my thread though >.<. I loved raiding, I played Since Vanilla and have seen all the raids in there hay day! Good times... Man I feel old. Cata made me sad, and Panda's... I cannot forgive that Talent tree change, They took away my Hybrid specs back in BC (Okay it was broken OP but whatever I liked it, okay? :P ) Now they're taking away... MY EVERYTHING! R.I.P Talent tree's in WoW, you will be missed *salutes*. Also Dragon Soul is a boring raid. Have you seen much of it? Perhaps the first boss at least. Doesn't he just make you think of "BREAK YOURSELF UPON MY BODY!!!! FEEL THE STRENGTH OF THE EARTH!!!!".

Alliance or Horde?

Both. I started off as an Ally Play: 85 warrior(The original Sprixx!), Warlock(My first 60 in Vanilla), and Shammy(RESTO BABY... and now Horde)

Then my friend re invited me to play again start of the year, and I leveled a Protidin, and Huntard to 85, and a 81 Priest. Now my Shaman is Hordy too. MY warrior and Lock are still my favorites, if not my mains anymore. I also have a Worgen Drood at like 70 something. I've played every healer and tank out there too at least 70 (DK too but not much). My pally was only Holy briefly but it wasn't really my thing. All my main specs is either healing or tank (Drood was both xD) because I love being the thing that keeps everyone alive, THE PRESSURE! I LOVE IT! (I am insane!)

If it's an RPG, of any sorts, it counts. :P

Also, Sprixx, I imagine you don't care for final bosses that don't take any effort to kill because they are meant for story rather than difficulty? :P

If so, you may not appreciate the Wild Arms 2 final boss since that's all he is. He's pathetic to fight but the fight itself is epic beyond belief.

....if you ever were to play the game. xD

Never played WoW myself, I've had interest in it but in the end I dunno if I can justify paying for it every month. lol

I can't stand it if there's no real build up for it. Like the end boss of Fable 2... WHAT BOSS?! Yu Yeven made me annoyed because He seemed like he was intended to be hard With the way he auto heals... But then they give you Auto Life for whatever reason. Shuyin (I think that was his name) Was intended to be a real final boss having damage and abilities that actually made it challenging, it just wasn't, no strategy and the boss building up to him was also pretty easy if my memory serves. I would actually like to try Wild Arms, I can only hope that the final boss has a really big build up (Kinda like FF7, big build up with a massive boss, ending off on a showdown more or less.).

You're not the only one who doesn't like paying monthly, even I didn't enjoy it.

I used to play WoW. A really long time ago, before burning crusade. Undead Warlock all the way.

Stopped playing because the price wasn't worth the amount of time I had to play it each month.

On the whole challenge and cruising through a game thingy; I like both, actually. I like the feel of accomplishment I get when I figure out to cruise through a challenging game :)

For example, OoE. I can run through that game no trouble now. The majority of enemies, including bosses, I can take down quickly and easily and without taking any damage. I felt so awesome the first time I beat Dracula without taking damage.

Now I can run through the Large Cavern in a few minutes without taking damage. On hard :)

Also, who was it who said Golden Sun was the best RPG on the GBA (or on handhelds in general, IMO)?

Cuz you are absolutely, 100% correct :) I've probably put 500+ hours into that series :)

Technically speaking the boss has a massive amount of buildup. They build you up to this particular boss throughout the entire game in bits and pieces, plus the final stretch after the final save point takes a while because you fight four bosses before him. (Three of them solo with three of your characters and one more with the rest of your party that didn't stay behind to fight the other three)

The boss kinda comes out of nowhere but at the same time, you knew he was coming as long as you paid attention during the game. It's an absolutely amazing fight though.

It was me !

Unless you are alergic to long dialogs (be ready to wait at least 15mn before being able to moove) this game is a masterpiece.

I didn't spend that much time (maybe 150 h with the three) but I sure considere them as the best RPG you can find on a portable console.

How much time did it take you to find all the djinn?

I've wanted to play Golden Sun for ages. I started playing the first one a bit a few years ago but I never got the chance to play it again. I really want to as an RPG lover.

Of course, nothing can beat Mario & Luigi or Megaman Starforce for handheld RPGs for me :P

Hand held RPG? I have a few good ones. For the PSP any of the Lunar games. For the DS Magical Star Sign (It's a bit slow at times but I had fun with it, it felt very traditional with a bit of a twist with the combat). And where is the Pokemon love here guys?!
