The book is an alternate world where African and Middle Eastern culture, Arabic language and Islam are dominate, while Europe remained mostly tribal and dark age like(save for African colonies in Espania and Greece and Scandinavia) I've read the book many times, and just from a visual and production point of view, it would be interesting to see a reversal of slavery and an alternate America(Bialistan as it's called in this world) it would be a much better idea then HBO's Confederate.
