I tend to find there are two paths - one of deciding what you are going to cook, then visiting multiple shops to find the ingredients, and the other visiting a convenient shop to see what ingredients are available, and then deciding what you could cook from those :)

What did you have in mind? Do you have any favorite 'go to' -recipes?

Saturdays are my 'no cook' days, so I'm figuring out where to go, most likely getting takeout on the way home from grocery shopping.

Depends on how "non cook" you want it to be I guess - when I can't be bothered to actually make something, but don't want takeout, I usually get ready-to-cook ovenables from the chilled asle - say chicken kievs, tagliatelle carbonara, and garlic bread, which DO require cooking, but the entire effort is "remove from outer packaging, place in oven, wait" :)

I do a big meal on Sundays, so this is my 'let someone else do it, I'm saving my energy and staying out of the kitchen' day.

(It's a working title.)

There's some options on the way home, just figuring out which one to stop at is the issue.

Good evening y'all, it's once again time to try bump this thread ^_^

Hopefully you had a wonderful Halloween! Though I absolutely despise said holiday, there's one good thing of it: pumpkin beer! Importers make sure that markets and liquor stores are packet of it for the rest of the years :mlp_icwudt:

Does seem to have gone quiet in the absence of @Longhaul ...

Not a great fan of pumpkin anything, I am afraid (we didn't even get them in this country until recently, using turnips instead for halloween lanterns) - besides, AJ would tell you cider is the ultimate alcoholic drink (although I do like a good single malt)

That sounds very nice. *slides a cider over*  I'll have a pretty low-key holiday myself, just me and my special somepony.

There are also the aberdeen angus beef pies with ale in the gravy to consider :)

Got me craving onion rings now. I wonder where I can buy them ready-cooked (as I don't have a deep fat frier at home)

They sell them in most supermarkets, through they’re never as nice as ones cooked in restaurants - especially TGI Friday’s beer battered onion rings smothered in Jack Daniel’s sauce. :nom:

They sell them ready to cook in most supermarkets (at least here; I am not speaking for other countries) but not precooked (which is probably a good thing; most supermarkets have their hot food in cabinets, and they can be there for hours; onion rings need to be freshly cooked or they go soggy)

plenty of pubs sell them as a side though, and I suspect some fast food places too. I may go hunt some down :)

I've had the frozen ones from the supermarket and they're not too bad.  Some brands are better than others; it's all a matter of personal taste.

They are nice if deep fried from frozen. Oven baked, they tend not to be so nice.

I’ve only tried the oven ones and they’re so bland. Nothing beats deep fried but I don’t have a frier, so I just have them whenever I go to a pub or restaurant.

One restaurant was a con though. I asked for onion rings and they gave me them without the batter. They were onion rings but...not onion rings.
