ManaMinori 4,145 July 3, 2018 Share July 3, 2018 (edited) I vaguely recall that at some point, Queen Majesty of gen 1 was referred to as male (maybe it was an AU on Tumblr?) I don't have the greatest memory, but it was brought to mind after watching a "queen" on 'So You Think You Can Dance' pull off a rather some rather fabulous choreography. Do you guys think Hasbro would be willing- and able- to pull off having a "Queen" as its focus in a new royalty-centric lineup, whether in g4 or the next generation's toyline or animated series? ***PLEASE MIND THE CONTEXT AND QUOTATIONS*** Wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_(slang) In gay slang, queen is a term used to refer to a flamboyant or effeminate gay man. The term can either be pejorative or celebrated as a type of self-identification Related Terms: Drag Queen Edited July 3, 2018 by Nightmare Muffin Under the Jellicle Moon- a site with cuteness, cat boys, and comic strips / Star Dreams Fanclub
King of Canterlot 9,603 July 3, 2018 Share July 3, 2018 Why are you so obsessed today with Hasbro's relationship concerning Princesses and Queens? Anyways, to answer this threads question, yes. I believe that Hasbro is perfectly capable of having queens in MLP. Just because they haven't really had a whole lot of Queens in the current generation doesn't mean that the next MLP generation won't have queens in it, nor does it mean that the writing staff won't be capable of writing up good queen characters. Again, this is really something that we will just have to wait and see for ourselves in the next generation. 1 RA RA RASPUTIN

NOT the royalty type, but basically an efemminite male (who would just so happen to be in the line of royalty, mind you, for pun's sake). Think Big Mac, but girlier. Are you talking like a Feminine male type of character? I know that Hasbro can easily pull off a Prince or a King, but some girly ruler? No..... I don't think so, that's just not they're style of characters to have in the show. And they really have no reason to even create a character like that, who would even be the target audience for that girly male character? 1 RA RA RASPUTIN

Nevermind that creating such a character in our rabidly pc culture would be like leaping into a minefield with a vest made of c4 and pants made of thermite 1 May the Friendship be with you. The show as a whole caters to a certain demographic, not the individual characters, themselves. (and honestly, one our of dozens sticking out from the norm wouldn't even be noticed by the "target demographic") Just look at Rainbow Dash. Nor is being typical aristocratically entitled. Never mind how unlikeable he was. Fans would notice. Forced characters for no reason never go over well. And what about Rainbow Dash. What implications are you going to try to pin based on her being sporty and competitive? May the Friendship be with you.
Cwanky 17,602 July 3, 2018 Share July 3, 2018 For the record there is a queen in FiM: which for awhile suggested that queen is a 4 letter word but the. Again you have Queen Novo, so I think its somewhat mixed on their views. They seem to have matured past the whole “queen is an authoratitive and bad image for little girls” motto. In practice though, Celestia and Luna are queens. Twilight or Cadance are the closest we have to actual princesses, canon be damned.
