"Well, why else would they send us here totally unprepared?" Oliver pointed out. "No supplies, no knowledge, nothing. We just went through right away, not knowing what was on the other side or even if there was a way back."

"Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." Jenna quoted "All we know is that they knew us, and knew that something was going to happen." "We don't know if they knew what was going to happen." "As far as we know, it was just bunch of dudes in suits who looked at a diagram then a list of names, and just drew some lines based on location." "Again, if intent was to kill, they could have just shot us, that would have been quicker, more effective and generally just more certain way of doing it." "While this place sucks, the only actively deadly thing we have seen, left the place."

"It just feels like they were trying to get rid of us," Oliver sighed. "Whoever they are."

He looked around again. "I hope this light really is the way out. I don't wanna be stranded here and end up like whoever used to be here."

"Again, I doubt the thing is going anywhere until we do something to it." Jenna assured "Though, if our world is heading towards the same fate, would it really make a difference?" "Which again is why we are here." "We didn't come here because a letter told us to, we came here, because a letter told us something would happen, and we made the decision to see what it was about." "And we are still here, because I don't want our world to look like this." "I don't want to be the one writing those journals we found in this place's version of my apartment." "I don't want to know, what it feels like to be that hopeless."

"But we don't know how to stop what happened to this world happening to our world," Oliver pointed out. "We don't even know what happened here."

He frowned. "It's not that I don't wanna do this, it's just that we have no idea what we're doing."

"And that's why we keep moving." Jenna reminded "We can't figure that out by sitting at home hoping for the best." "I don't like any of this any more than you do, but facing the unknown is the only way to learn." "And in full honesty, I rather fail trying, than don't try at all."

"We'd be a lot safer sitting at home, though," Oliver pointed out. "I just don't like how we're here while having no idea what we're doing."

He sighed and looked at Jenna. "I just don't want to die here."

"Would we though?" "With the things running around?" Jenna pointed out "And we won't die here, I am stubborn, but I'm not that stubborn." "Besides, we have only so much food and water, we need to turn back eventually if we don't find something." "This is only the second day; though I admit it has felt like forever because of the constant darkness."

"I just hope we can go back," Oliver said, looking at where they were walking. "I hope that thing really does take us home instead of somewhere even more dangerous. We don't really know where it goes or what's on the other side."

"The portal we entered from is there still, I'm pretty certain." "And it shouldn't go anywhere or change in anyway until we do something to the source." Jenna assured "I hope." she then admitted "It is true we don't really know how things work here."

"You see what I mean then," Oliver sighed. "We have no idea what's going on. We can only hope that portal takes us home, and that no one messes with the source until we do. I'd hate to be stuck here..."

Jenna put her hand on Oliver's shoulder "Don't let it get to you." "If we fall in despair, we will certainly fail." "It is true that there is negatives, but try to look at the positives." "We haven't seen any indication that our way home has gone anywhere, we haven't spotted anything that would be active threat to us..." until you counted the mold, not active threat per say, but certainly not healthy to breath in either "...and we have each other."

Oliver looked at Jenna and nodded, starting to smile again. "Yeah, you're right. I guess it's not totally impossible yet."

He smiled at her. "Thanks. You're right - we'll find a way out together."

"That's the spirit." Jenna smiled "Though, this reminds me, we should probably start looking for a place to rest again." she looked at the time from her wristwatch "It's getting late again, and we are nearing the edge of the city, we need to plan out our next move."

Oliver nodded and looked around, in hopes of finding somewhere to take shelter. "Maybe there's an apartment around here or a store or something? Though, anywhere with a door we can lock will work, I think."

"A place with a door and optimally with minimal amount of mold." Jenna agreed, looking around, they were currently in an area with mostly offices and other corporate spaces, which wasn't out of the question, but she hoped to find residential area, as those were more optimal. If nothing else, there were the suburbs. "I'm not actually too familiar with this side of the city, but certainly there's a residential ares somewhere here."

"The mold doesn't smell right to me," Oliver agreed. He looked around at all the office buildings. "Maybe we can use a couch in a break room or something? Or... I think I can see a neighbourhood a little bit ahead."

Arguably mold never smelled right, in fact, now that she thought about it, Jenna figured that she would be even more suspicious if she found mold that did smell good; she wasn't sure why though. 
"I imagine break rooms and offices can get uncomfortable if the AC doesn't work." "Until of course temperature here breaks the laws of physics like the constant darkness seems to." she was referring to how the darkness seemed to be constantly the same, allowing them to see even in places where realistically speaking, it should be too dark to see anything. 

She looked around to see what Oliver meant, and would change course towards the potential residential area. "A neighborhood would also be a good source for potential transport, I'm still thinking that couple of bicycles would be good to get, lot faster than walking, without the worry about fuel."

Oliver's face lit up a little at Jenna's idea. "Oh yeah, good idea. We'll be able to get to that portal thing a lot faster. Plus there'll be beds and sofas and stuff."

He swallowed. "I just hope nothing dangerous is hiding out over there."

"There hasn't been anything dangerous yet, so while of course stay alert, I don't see why there specifically would be any different." Jenna assured "If I were to guess, if there is something that could be active danger, it is likely near to whatever keeps the portals open." "Since it would make sense for them to protect it."

"Yeah, but hopefully they won't see us as a threat since we just want to get home," Oliver pointed out. "We're not trying to turn it off or anything. Maybe they'll just let us pass if they see we don't mean harm."
