"I'm just saying I'm less vulnerable than you right now," Oliver pointed out. "I don't eat raw meat and I don't want to be so far away from you that I can't help you if something happens. I've already had to leave my previous life to follow you on this, after all."

"Even when injured, I'm objectively...more durable." Jenna pointed out "Just a single bullet...and boom, you're dead." "I can still fight another dragon....I would most likely lose...but I can take more hits than you." "Not to mention things like illness, which...I'm practically immune to, unlike you...even with the weird changes my blood..seemed to cause." 

"But that's not even the problem...my problem is that you don't think."... "Obviously I'm not offering you eat raw meat, I'm not an idiot...I pretend to be a human after all."... "But if you were thinking straight...you'd know that." "I'd expect you...to be able to understand, that when I bring you...cut, cleaned up and wrapped piece of venison...while you are next to a fire, the oldest method of cooking...that I'm not telling you to eat deer raw." She lowered her head and looked at Oliver with genuine worry "Do you even remember when was the last time...you ate anything at all?"

"Of course I..." Oliver trailed off. When he thought about it, he actually hadn't eaten much since all this mess started. The adrenaline and the shock from everything going on had kept him distracted. "Actually, I don't remember. A few days maybe."

Jenna narrowed her eyes a bit and scanned Oliver with her eyes, she had no reason to doubt Oliver's guess, as she didn't remember seeing him eat either, yet he wasn't skin and bones; guess it was part of the mutation her blood had caused, but she had to think it through before saying anything. She  looked Oliver in the eyes, while flipping the meat on the stones, and then she pointed at the meat with her claw "When that piece is cooked, you eat." "And no buts." she then raised her head back up "You are useless dead." she was surprisingly stern in her words, but her concern for Oliver did bleed through.

Oliver didn't have a reason to argue with Jenna, but the look on her face told him it was a bad idea anyway.

"Yeah, sure," he said. "Hopefully there was enough for you. With those wounds, you really need it."

"I've eaten two entire deer....in less than 24h, I'll be fine." Jenna assured "You have to remember that I've been trained...to survive alone; among all the brainwashing...there were some useful things too."

"Well, just remember you don't have to survive alone anymore," Oliver assured her. "I'm just trying to look out for you, especially since you got hit pretty badly back there. Those wounds still look nasty."

"Burn wounds tend to look bad." Jenna said "The scars will likely be visible... even in my human form." she glanced towards her shoulder, it would certainly be visible, because even with dragon's healing abilities, you couldn't grow back a missing chunk. "But at least in this form my scales will... cover them, eventually." "I'm more concerned about whatever happened inside." she held her leg against her chest as she said it "Since I have no real way... to know for sure." "But since I'm still alive,.. it can't be that bad."

"If I knew more about dragons, I might be able to help you more," Oliver said, frowning. "I don't even have the equipment to properly find out what happened to you, or how to fix it. I wish I could help you more."

"Even a human hospital wouldn't help...much." Jenna stated "One more downside of becoming a...rogue." "We really are...on our own, when it comes to things like this." it was a risk she took, and she was going to live with it "Part of the reason why...I insist on hiding instead of fighting."

"Well, you're not on your own anymore," Oliver reminded her. "You don't have to put yourself in danger as much if I'm here to look out for you. You just have to let me help whenever I can so you don't get injured as much again."

" 'We' included you" Jenna pointed out "And you did help...and because of that, I'm only injured...and not dead." "I wouldn't have been able...to take on both at the same time, so you keeping...the other busy, kept me alive." "But at the same time...let's be realistic about what...you can actually do."

"I just don't want to be a hinderance," Oliver said. "I'm glad I was able to help you with those two, but there's only so much I can do."

He looked at himself and thought about the dragon blood inside him. "As far as I know..."

"I have a hunch...what you are thinking." Jenna stated "But I think we have already seen....most of the effects of my blood on you." "I've been thinking about it...among other things. And I think I...have a theory." "I think what happened...is that my blood boosted your body's natural...processes." "Healing, stamina, things like that...they are something human body already does." "So be it our natural magic...or something biological in our blood....it could have boosted those processes." "It would also explain...why you got so sick at first. Your body tried to...fight off what it saw as an intruder." 

"The real question is...how deep the change is? Is it permanent?" "If it affected you on...cellular level, or even on the DNA-level.....the long term effects can only be speculated."

"Yeah, I'm not sure either," Oliver said, looking at where the gunshot wound once was. "I don't feel sick or anything, but I'm not sure if your blood has effected me apart from healing faster. Wonder what else I can do?"

"Like I said, it is likely that...your natural processes simply got boosted." Jenna stated "Given perfect circumstances, humans would be...perfectly able to heal wounds like that, be it....very slowly." "Circumstances just never are perfect, thus they never...fully heal." "My blood likely boosted the process in your body...enough to heal quick and without permanent..effects." "This would also explain your stamina increasing...since your body recovers faster." "I'd assume that it means that...things like your muscle gain would also be notably faster." 

"That happened with my blood mixed with yours." "So...there's two options on what will happen with time." "Either my blood will fade out as your body creates more blood...returning you to normal." "Or it has changed your biology to the extend...that eventually only dragon blood flows in you." "And while you won't be changing species...I am curious about the implications of that...for your body." "It could in theory, increase your lifespan... far beyond normal."

"So there's a chance I could be part-dragon?" Oliver summised, looking at himself. "That sounds pretty cool. I guess I wouldn't mind looking like a dragon, but having the abilities of one would be cool too."

"Genetically speaking." Jenna specified "You most likely won't be growing any scales...or breathing fire." "It's a mutation, not a transformation." "My guess is that...if there was to be any physical changes, besides what...we have already seen, it would be something like...your skin growing more durable." "You are still a mammal, you won't turn into a reptile just because some blood." "However, it is good to mention...that I have no real knowledge on the matter." "Talon never, as far as I know, experimented with human-dragon hybrids." "Why would they?.... they see humans as inferior creatures, pests that are more harm than good...." "Why would you try to combine yourself with something you see as inferior?"

"Well, good to know I'm the first of my kind," Oliver joked, looking himself over to see if he had indeed grown any scales. "It'd be kinda cool, to be part-dragon. I wanted to be one when I was a kid, actually."

"Funny." Jenna stated in contradictorily matter of fact tone, "I also wanted to be like the dragons in fantasy books." "Even us dragons, can't be like...dragons." "But back on topic, like said, don't expect..notable obvious changes." "Your body is still...99% human."

"Yeah, probably," Oliver said, looking at himself again. He didn't want to admit he was checking to see if he had started growing scales or something. "Still, it'd be kinda cool to do what you can do."

At this point, the meat that had been cooking for Oliver was cooked, so Jenna picked the stone it was cooking on from the fire with the meat, so that Oliver had some kind surface to eat on "Time for you to eat." "Watch out...the stone is still hot." "There's utensils in my...backpack, if you don't want to....eat with your hands"

"Oh, thanks," Oliver said. He had to admit the meat looked quite good now that it was cooked. He waited for the stone to cool down before he took a bite from it.

"Mm, this is pretty good," he said. "Thanks."

"Don't eat too quick." Jenna warned "You haven't eaten...for a while, so your body may...be unprepared." she looked at the piece of meat "It's funny, we can breathe fire...yet we never really cook our food." "I wonder why." "It smells and tastes objectively better...when cooked." "And it doesn't make it...any worse food for us."

"Right," Oliver said, nodding as he ate slower. As for her query, he wondered about it himself. "Well, you can breath fire, right? Maybe whatever lets you do that cooks the meat inside you or something?"
