Before he could do anything, Somnus was pressed against the mountain by Ruby's leg stopping him from moving anywhere, she brought her head next to Somnus, as close to his ear as she could, and she spoke with voice dripping with disgust "Then you are a worthless coward like every one else in your pointless species." "And you would also be the cause of death of those you swore to protect and the one creature you claim to love so much."

Somnus struggled, trying really hard to get out of Ruby's grip.

"The only death there will be is my own."

Calti had jumped down from top of Ruby and was hiding in a hole nearby "If I hated you, I would have killed you myself already!"

It made sense. Ruby would get blamed if he jumped.

Somnus didn't know what to do at this point.

Ruby still didn't let go "I told you already" she huffed "I want you to make something of yourself." "Because no matter how much something inside me tries to like you, as long as you're just brainless and weak bat, i will only tolerate you at best." she lowered her voice and sounded almost threatening "You claim you'd do anything for me, so prove it, become something worth of my time."

Somnus now saw a way to redeem himself. And it's true he would do anything for her.

"I'll try."

A large wyvern flew over to the mountain. This wyvern was seven times the size of Ruby.

"A perfect place to live. Complete with free food, a smaller dragon and a sad pony."

Although Somnus was still deeply saddened, he knew what danger this wyvern could be to Ruby.

"We need to go, Ruby."

"Need to go? I can't let you do that. You two are a perfect source of food. Besides, the red ones taste the best."

"You missed." she didn't stay in one place any longer than she needed to, she wasn't going to do the same mistakes that had caused that week in the hole. Her wing did hurt to fly still, but due to her instincts firing up due to this being a case of survival, the pain didn't slow her down, and instead made her fight only harder.

The wyvern was counting on her to go at his head. He went to bite Ruby, but ended up roaring instead. Somnus got the wyvern's wing with his staff.

"There, now he won't be able to fly, we have a flight advantage now."

"Wyvern's use their wings as front legs, so now that one his damaged, his mobility will be limited. But he still has a strength and size advantage, don't forget that."

Ruby reminded "Not that harmful but extremely annoying and hard to catch, so use that to your advantage." she sent a spray of fire towards the Wyvern's eyes, naturally it didn't do any damage, but it still stopped him from seeing momentarily as she flew down and grabbed on his back, scratching him and taking off before he could catch her, laughing as she did, sounding like she was genuinely having fun.

Somnus started to fly around landing random hits, but he was being more unpredictable with his movements than he was in the training yard. Clearly he picked a few things up.

When Ruby hit the healthy wing, Somnus flew straight into the wyvern's head, knocking him over.

"Give up yet?"

The wyvern roared and tried to bite Ruby, though being off balance made that pretty difficult.

"Restraining him isn't an option due to his strength and he clearly doesn't plan on stopping, we should finish him off while we have the chance."

"That was the plan." Ruby stated "Too bad it was this easy." she sounded almost disappointed. She then started flying upwards, and after gathering some altitude, she started charging towards the wyvern, shouting "Time to meet the royalty!" she then hit the wyvern with all of her weight and speed, and though she was a lot smaller, it was still quite a strike, and it sent both lizards and a small piece of the mountain plummeting down the mountain towards Canterlot, Ruby pretty much riding the wyvern. 

Calti was standing on the mountain and looking towards the falling lizzards and then towards Somnus, bit confused about what was happening.

Somnus looked down, it was night time and there was only a guard drinking a banana smoothie. He flew down and pushed him to the side.

Ruby hadn't told the whole truth, there was a third reason why she had done this, or more specifically there was a reason why she had aimed for Canterlot from all places, it was a reminder, reminder to the ponies that she wasn't a pushover. It wasn't until just before the impact when Ruby separated herself from the wyvern and glided down, her landing wasn't the smoothest out there, but she was aright. But the wyvern was a different story, his tough scales had kept his body in one piece, but there was no signs of life in him, and him being seven times bigger than Ruby, who already was in several hundreds when it came to weight, the impact was rather huge, doing some damage to the city around it, and sending out a loud enough sound to most likely to be not only heard, but felt all around the city.

Ruby walked next to the now dead wyvern and ripped off one of his claws "I win"

The guard who Somnus pushed out of the way looked Ruby, Somnus, and the dead wyvern for a couple seconds only to walk away to buy another smoothie.

"I wasn't expecting us to actually win."

Truth was, Somnus didn't think he would survive that, he only stayed and helped fight to keep anything bad from happening to Ruby.

That's all Somnus could really think of saying. The unhappiness was still there, which he was trying to hide, though it would be pretty visible to someone who was observant.

Ruby shrugged, she obviously wasn't someone who was observant of emotions of others "Don't know, I guess I'll head back to the treasury because I don't feel like climbing back up and my wing hurts like hay."

Somnus decided he would just go with her since he had nothing better to do. First though, he had to ask something.

"I never said you are, only that you would be if you would have ended it there." she replied, changing to her pony form as she did "And I always mean what I say." "Those who end it because things don't go their way are cowards, it's that simple." "You either succeed or die trying, those are the only options, any other is coward's way."
