My kids adore Twilight Sparkle. Lauren Faust's inspiration for Canterlot, with its castle carved into the side of the mountain, was Minas Tirith from The Lord of the Rings. And it was originally called Canterbury. Did you know that?

This thread appears to be related to the My Little Pony franchise and/or the Bronydom in general. Thus, it has been sentenced to Sugarcube Corner.

 

There are a lot of little nods to media that people have found in the show over the years. Some are subtle like this one. I’m fact hunting for the pop culture references is or was part of the allure for the fandom way back in the day.

Canterbury, didn't know it was called that, but that name would actually be a really nice reference on it's own. still hope they'll feature Canterbury Tales in an episode somehow
